Oak vs NYG next week (1 Viewer)

Im not a Raiders fan, and don't pay much attention to them and was hoping a homer or someone w/ knowledge of the team could chime in.

Who does Nnamdi Asomugha typically cover? Is he sticking to each teams WR#1 regardless of where they line up or does he stick to one side of the field?

With that being said, which of the NYG's WR's is going to NOT be covered by Nnamdi Asomugha?

Always plays the right side (e.g., left side of the offense), and does not move around.

This has been covered many times.

I have SSmith (NYG) in an 0.5 PPR league and I will be starting him.

I would really, really, really like to watch that game as (1) the Saints get the NYG next after the bye, and (2) the Raiders are so bloody awful their games are actually fun to watch.

The NYG's line vs Russell. Now think about that. There will be so many opportunities for all skill players.

Based on transcripts of Gilbride, Eli and Smith, the passing game has a big day when the defense focuses on stopping the run and leaves Smith in single coverage. I haven't watched the Raiders much, but my guess is with their CBs being so talented, they'll single cover Smith. I a think Smith is a must start each week, he may not match the numbers at KC, but he should get WR1 numbers.

Does it really matter? I might be wrong, but without any stats in front of me, I think most teams RUN against the Raiders.

If Manning's heal turns out to be a bigger issue than we know, the Giant's WR corps just took a MAJOR hit (FFL-wise). :goodposting:

Yes. It has been covered many times. And it will be covered 13 more times, at least, this season.
13? The Raiders have 12 games left; surely you're not suggesting they could make the playoffs, are you?
Don't forget the bye week. Asomugha will cover Tom Cable in prison during that week.I'm not sure if that's defensive right side or not

Pretty sure it will be Cable's blind side, if Asomugha has a lick of sense.

Classic...

don't even know why it's an issue - if you're worried about Smith then don't - he will get his - the guys has been GREAT so far this year - I love his demeanor - he just plays ball . . . no drama . . .

Teams do run against the Raiders, but if the Raiders put 8 in the box I think the Giants will take advantage of it so future opponents watching the game tape will have to respect the pass. Thus opening up the running game against future opponents. The Chiefs can be run against and the Giants did that and still threw the ball 34 times for 292 yards. I don't think they had to pass so much to win, I think they were making a point to other teams, 'Single cover our WRs and we'll burn you with the pass'. It makes sense to show what your passing game can do, so teams don't cheat up on the run. Look at the chat on this board, opinions are still split on how legit the Giants passing game is, are the receivers starter quality or just NFL WR2s. It will take half the season before it's accepted that the Giants passing game is for real. I believe the Giants want to establish that passing threat before the cold weather games, where they may not want to pass as much, arrive.
