Why does everyone get so excited about playing Oakland. I noticed a lot of people started Leinart over QB's like Vick because Leinart was playing Oakland and Vick was playing Pitt.!

Go look at Oaklands pass D. It is #1 in the NFL!!!

It helps that teams don't need to throw on Oakland when they are beating the crap out of them.

It's a little more then that.. They might not be #1 because everybody runs but look at last week.. The Cardinals couldn't run or pass very well.. I do think they are top 5 pass D.. It is improving very fast. This year is toast but man I like what they are doing for next.. I think the fist few weeks of the season were the bottom. Here we go for the future..

This is a counterfeit ranking, just like GB ranking 1st against the pass in yards allowed last year. Yards per attempt is a better indicator of effectiveness, and in Oakland's defense, they are 9th (GB was 15th last year). Still, you can't overlook that Oakland has faced only 24 passing attempts a game (the next lowest is Indy at 28, and thats because everyone loves to run on Indy).

And at Football Outsiders they ranked 28th in pass defense (prior to the AZ game). I trust their rankings more since they factor in yardage needed for a first down on a particular play.

Their run D isn't playing horribly (3.9 per carry) but they've faced the third most rushing attempts in the league, forcing up their yards and knocking down their ranking.
