Oakland Q.B.? (1 Viewer)

Shell has said that Brooks is the starter when he returns from injury. It Walter looks good, I doubt he'll give up the job. However, I doubt that Walter looks good behind that line.

Walter, but beyond that I wouldn't count out Jeff George throwing a pass for the Oakland Raiders in 2006.

Week 4: Andrew Walter

Week 5: Jeff George

Week 6: Rich Gannon

Week 7: Jim Plunkett

Week 8: Ken Stabler

Week 9: George Blanda

Week 10-17: TBA per weekly walk on tryouts.................

Art Shell and Methusaleh are working on a new offensive plan which features a half-step dropback for Walters. Upon reviewing the film, they found that he had to get rid of the ball in 0.4 seconds before he was overwhelmed by the defensive line.

They first practiced it without an offensive line, and found 0.5 seconds was enough. But with the offensive line, they can only get away with 0.4 seconds.

Brooks looked decent week 1
He did?
YES, 0 INT behind that line is impresive. Did you watch the game?
Did you? Dude was 6-14 for 68 yards, got sacked SEVEN times in 3 quarters. How in the HECK is that looking 'decent'?
Simply because that was the worst Ofensive line play I have seen in years even worse than the ofensive line play I have seen from HOU, the few HOU games I have seen. He did not exactly have 2-3 seconds to wait for his WR to go down field to make a pass longer than a few yards. He was not exactly given the best game plan out there also. I simply do not think that to many QBs would have done much better. In addition to many people on this board are making too many assumptions about individual players after 1-2 games with just looking at the stats of one 1-2 games. Prior to last year Brooks had some pretty good seasons, and I do not believe that you could put NO last year's performance on his shoulders.

I believe Walter is the starter the rest of the season. Art knows they're not going to make the playoffs, might as well try and see what they have in Walter.

i see this happening as well. not that he looked good, but walter seems to be a much better option than brooks. aaron dances way too much, walter should be more solid in the pocket. LOL.....now i made myself laugh, like the raiders oline can form a pocket.

The way the Raiders are going, Walter could come out and tear it up, lead the Raiders to .500 or better, only to get benched when Brooks returns.

conventional wisdom does not apply

Jeff George didn't make the team in real life so the Raiders will move George Blanda to the starter in week 5.I hope the person who started this discussion doesn't need to start the Raiders starting QB.

With the offensive line problems they've been having, wouldn't Tuiasosopo be a good fit? He's very mobile, and has good playmaking ability while running for his life.

Most QBs: "Blue, 32! Blue, 32! Sixteen, 65! Hut, hut, hut!"

Raider QBs: "Red rover! Red rover! Send the D-line on over!"

Well No, I have Warner & Brunell the Sniper ;) But I also have Randy Moss and a couple of ching, ching would sure be nice. I heard that Walter has a strong arm and Randy was working with him in training. While they were on bye last week hopefully they prepared for the Browns and a few long bombs might connect. In all reality I expect L.Jorden to get a lot of work with the run and underneath passes and if that starts to work they may chuck a long one down field....

I'm not sure Walter's arm strength matters all that much, only his head strength. Brooks has a gun, too.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that Walter played so well the last game. he looked pretty bad...throwing picks, fumbling, sailing the ball over receivers heads... I find it hard to believe that Brooks couldn't have played better if he didn't get hurt.
