Obama can end all deportation of illegal immigrants by himself (1 Viewer)

It wouldn't be an amnesty order but that's what it would effectively become, because it wouldn't be reversed. Please read the article I posted; it explains things better than I can.
I'm with the other guys. The article doesn't explain anything, it just provides conflicting quotes from various people. It definitely doesn't say that no future president couldn't/wouldn't reverse such an order.

That said, I'm not sure whether an executive order along these lines would be a political winner for either side. The people it would please all probably vote Democrat anyway, and the people it would piss off all probably vote GOP anyway.
Maybe so. Like I've said before, I've never cared about the politics.

I know it's a pipe dream. Obama will never do it anyhow. The House will never agree to immigration reform, either. It would make so much common sense for us just to give all of these people immediate amnesty, to let them into our system. We would be so much better off. But we can't bring ourselves to do it.

Laugh all you want. I believe this with every fiber of my being. There are very few issues I feel this strongly about, and this 100% confident that I am right about.

The thing is, the actual truth of the statement is unrelated to the strength of your feelings about it. Lots of people feel just as strongly (probably more so) that the opposite is true.

I agree with the bolded, at least immigration reform that isn't heavy on "enforcement first".

I'm not sure about the part after the bolded. I think it's one of those things that might be good in an ideal world and system, but because our current government and system isn't ideal, immediate amnesty might very well cause more problems than it solves.

That's absolutely correct, and of course it's true about most subjective opinions.

Well of course you're not sure. I know what your view is, and I actually respect you greatly for it. You have been remarkably consistent and forthright, you want what you believe is in the best interests of the country. There is not a hint of bigotry or prejudice or ignorance in your POV. You are my toughest opponent on this subject. It's easy to argue against the bigots and nativists; it's not easy to argue against people with integrity and knowledge. That being said, I fundamentally disagree with you on this entire issue, as you know.

This is a good thread. I'm proud to have started it. I have started many threads on this same issue, and will likely start many more.
