Obama delays action on immigration reform until after elections (1 Viewer)

He's lying. Of course it's a tactic. Obama and the Democrats would prefer to do nothing on this issue, so as to (a) protect their asses and (b) guarantee that Latinos keep voting Democrat. It's shameful.

Anyone who believes Obama's lame-### excuse clearly is working for the Administration itself. This is PURELY to protect their asses during the elections.

The GOP needs to should this to the heavens until the elections that the Democrats plan on circumventing the US Constitution and not to be fooled by the delay.

It's okay when my side plays politics, but when the GOP does we should say something.

I totally understand Obama and the Dems wanting to play politics. They played politics with the black vote for 30 years before they passed the Civil Rights Act, and then they did it kicking and screaming the whole way. Latino activists are pissed off at this White House and the Democratic party and rightly so.

Let's be honest: in 2009 and 2010, Obama and the Dems had a majority in both Houses. They could have forced immigration reform through if they had wanted to then. They didn't because they know that the labor unions don't give a #### about this issue- in fact, their rank and file don't want amnesty.

And they also know that the majority of their African American base is against this issue.

Face it--more (and I am not trying to sound racist) Mexicans taking these lower paying jobs= less jobs for poorer black USA citizens and the recent study posted in one of the earlier threads proves this without a doubt.

I have strong doubts. In fact I don't believe it. But I do agree with you that many blacks are opposed to amnesty for illegals. I'm not sure it's a majority but it wouldn't surprise me.

But think about it, a lot (I can't prove majority with a link because 10 hours of football and beer is impairing me) of black voters believed in Obama and thought things would get better--when in fact things have actually gotten worse for them, Some of it he had no ability to fix or change, but the bottom line is things still suck for the African American poor in this country and he is the face of the government.

Now instead of improving the African American communities, where is the focus?? Non-native Hispanic and Central American immigrants. If you were a struggling poor black man in this country, wouldn't this make you angry??

i think it's a rather simplistic analysis. But yes, I wouldn't be at all surprised if many were angry.

He doesn't care if they're angry...he knows they'll still vote Democratic.

You are reading way too much into this Tim. The liberal base is very much in favor of reform. Pushing it back two months means nothing.

Of course they should be angry, just as poor people of any origin should be angry. Wealth is being concentrated at historic levels, and 50% of the country is fine with it.

Obama doesn't have a magic wand, but let's be honest, he's done more for poor people than the last 5 presidents combined.

You're precious.

So I don't understand why the TGOP is upset since, if he is delaying it that's a good thing for the TGOP right? Since immigration is a topic they would rather avoid!

This is what it all comes down to. No matter what Obama does, African Americans will support him and would vote for him again.

This is nothing new though by any politician. Politicians do what they can for themselves and their party first. The good of the country does not matter.

Do you think there is a reason AAmericans vote for democrats 90+% of the time, regardless of the race of the politician?
