Obama was on Cowherd (1 Viewer)

I think ESPN was pimping this enough, I did a quick search and saw nothing on this..........

The best part and the only part that mattered was when Terd asked for a comparison from politics and sports and the president had to tell him that in politics we are all on the same side, even though it is not presented that way,

No, no we're not. That's the most dumbed-down thing I've heard in a long time, and I watch sports broadcasters all the time.

The worst part was Cowherd slobbering all over Obama's health care plan.

Just because "my sister signed up for it and she's saving money!"

"I spend most of my time watching ESPN in the morning," President Obama said. "I get so much politics I don't want to be inundated with a bunch of chatter about politics during the day."

That's nice.

ESPN's most recent ombudsman said that he got tons of mail from viewers/readers who hated when the Worldwide Leader deigned to cover the "news" side of sports, like spousal abuse, concussions and O'Bannon-type lawsuits. Sort of a "that not why were here" kind of thing.

Did he ever reveal his Michigan coaching search candidate? What an attention whore he is

"I have a name that michigan is looking at, I cannot tell you but its going to break in the next 5 days"

(5days later)

"It hasnt broken yet, these things are fluid but I have a source and I am not doing this for attention just to show you how things work"

WE aren't. I think he meant elected politicians are on the same side- taking care of the same corporate interests that helped get them all elected.

ESPN in the morning. Golf in the afternoon. Fund raisers at night. It's amazing where he finds the time to #### up the country!

ESPN was unwatchable/unlistenable for all of September - Cowherd's show in particular. There has been an obvious shift away from that lately with this being the major exception.

I just heard this snipet and the talk immediately around it. I thought it was a good answer and Obama came off genuine in that answer. And he's right. When we listen to sports we don't want anything else there - at least I don't.

I'm sorry, I can't read your post over the portfolio gains in my 401(K). Keep F'n it up, Obama. A few more years like this and I'll retire at 50.

I love how people get all upset when our President does something, anything non-presidential. Dude would go insane if he was in President-mode very second of every day. Heck, we all wish/think we should get more time off of work. Seems like that should, to an extent, apply to the President as well.

Cowherd also asked him how often he ever watched a full game, start to finish and he said outside of the Super Bowl or maybe an NBA final, he never has the time to do so.

But hey, let's gloss over what he actually said and bash him because 'Murica.

Obama said he loves sports, but, given his job, he rarely has time to watch a whole game, only on special occasions like the Super Bowl, World Series or NBA Finals.

On the latter topic, Obama said he's hopeful that Chicago Bulls will make a run at the pro basketball championship.

The president did confess that, on nights when he's stuck with a fat briefing book, "I might have the game on with the sound off."
WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111

I also love the irony of the people who loathe his policies and presidential actions yet want him to work even more.

sometimes they both are

Well, gosh, guys....I kind of liked the interview and also like Cowherd. So angry in here.
I like Colin a lot, but I didn't like him vouching for ObamaCare. Thought it was unnecessary and irrelevant.

Also not a fan of the president(s).
What is the problem with ObamaCare? Isn't it premature to cast negative aspersions?
Obamacare is a ####### mess. My wife and I are 33 nonsmoker's...both in grad school though I still work full-time. We have two kids under 3 and are all relatively healthy (though this makes no difference under this plan). I am paying $1,000 a month for a mid-tier plan. Pediatric dental is also a forced component of the plan which is great, except I was forced to pay the $300 a year for my youngest when SHE HAD NO TEETH.

The plan is great for the baby boomers heading into retirement with health issues and the ability to conrrol their income. It is terrible for middle class america who have families and those a couple years into the workforce... As we are covering the expenses of the boomers.

That is also true of Social(ist) (In)Security.

What were your health care premiums per month before this? $1,000 for a family sounds....reasonable. And I'm pretty sure your youngins will be growing teeth soon enough.

Is that all Obama's fault too?

Obama Care sucks for me. Basically makes me burn $200/month with no benefit.

But the idea that I should hold that against him and, particularly, care that he watches sports is laughable.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Obamacare, but I do know what we pay per month for a family (my employer pays 100%, but I picked out our policy/plan so know the costs) and am curious what you guys were paying before. Woz, when you say you pay $200 a month with no benefit, what does that mean? Unpack that for me.

The increase was probably in the 30-35% range.

That's a lot. I can see why that would bother you. Are the benefits better? Do you get better care? Lower deductibles, more coverage, less expensive ER visits?

Previously I had basically a high-deductible, low monthly payment plan. Basically "oh ####" insurance. Since I'm young and strapping (despite fattening) it cost me like $90/month. I never used it but, as you alluded to, it's better than no insurance.

Along comes Obamacare. My plan dissolves. I try to apply for a plan on the government website but I make too much money. Finally, after speaking to several private insurance agents, the cheapest I can find is like $280/month. Also, since I live in a more rural area, my network coverage is the Phoenix metro area - about three hours from where I live. So yeah, no doctor's visit is convenient or even practical.

In short, my insurance is ####tier than it was prior, I'm nowhere near the network, and costs me about $200 more/month.

A silver plan on Healthcare.gov should cost you half of that even without a subsidy.

I tried for that. It wouldn't let me qualify for some reason.

I think you may have done something wrong. I just told it I lived in Prescott AZ, made $1 million a year, was 28, and at that point it showed me 69 plans with the cheapest being $147/month (University of Arizona Health Plans). AETNA was $158/mo.

I realized I just picked a random AZ zip code and I probably underestimated your income, but you might want to check again.
