I don't agree with the title of this thread but right now we're at war in more countries than we we were in 2008. Obviously I guess you meant boots on the ground but even so we have men in 3 countries now instead of two. Not including boots on ground it's now 5 nations we are now bombing and supplying proxies in as well.  Not to mention we have growing major military tension with Russia and China which we did not have in 2008.

Afraid to enter the pool here but I'll try. I will focus in Independents or those that do not blindly sign up for 1 party or the either because most staunch GOP hate him and most devout DNC think he's Jesus Christ. Somewhere in the middle is the right answer and I'll explain the Pros and Cons

Pro: I am speaking as a guy who leans Right but Obama has done a good job of not smacking the American people with ME problems on a daily basis. He doesn't talk to Americans about terrorism and he is on record as telling people to live their lives. There is an air of confidence that what happens in the ME and parts of Europe can't happen here. We know that's not really the case but most day to day operations here, not many folks are thinking Global Terrorism unless you watch Fox/CNN 24/7 which a good number of folks do unfortunately. This forum has a much higher % of folks who tune in and watch then in real walks of life. My wife, several very good friends can go weeks, months without tuning in, wish I could do the same at times. Obama has this country conditioned not to worry. Bush had us on high alert of Defcon 4 at all times it seemed. I look at as positive that most folks feel pretty secure in their homeland. I believe Obama has kept us out of a lot of disputes and tried his best to stay somewhat neutral at times in disputes. 

Cons: He has a lot of Americans fooled into thinking this place is running smooth especially when it comes to jobs. Fact is we have the lowest participation rate in the job market ever. Millions more are out of work now then say when Clinton were in office.  Oh it's been 6 months and you can't find work still? We can't pay you any more benefits so we are cutting them off and you are no longer counted as unemployed...WTF??? If you can't get real and be honest about the plight of the avg American worker in this country which most DNC/Clinton supporters CANNOT...then I have no choice but to back Donald Trump and run over you because at least he acknowledges we have a huge problem. People are hurting and it is largely due to a lot of Obama policies. 

20% of this country makes over $100k a year, I read the stat the other day. 2/3 do not have a college degree, all of this seems sensible but then you start looking closer and you realize that $100k ain't what it used to be. By the time you are done paying taxes you are left with an awful lot less. And these folks are looked at to carry the burden. Folks making $50k-$100k a year also major targets to get a little more taxes out of. The fact is most of these folks cannot hide their income the way the top 1-2%, the true FAT CATS can. I just wish all these folks could come together and figure this out. No offense to the low wage earners and you will always be taken care of in the world I live but since you do not seem interested in moving ahead but more demanding and holding position where you currently are(totally fine), allow us who want to continue moving ahead to shape policy that is going to allow for all this growth which will in turn allow you to grow. But simply giving more handouts and freebies to those under $50k a year to somehow cleanse and make those fortunate to have 2 nickels to rub together, not feel guilty with the daily social engineering and conditioning thru the TV that we are oh so lucky to be working 60-70 hours a week for $80k-$100k a year...we should be paid double for all the money these corporations steal and keep with all their loopholes, its disgraceful.

OK, that was more of a generalization, it obv is not "everyone".  For the most part, what I see and read (not just in this forum btw) people are much more sympathetic towards left wing extremists (BLM, Occupy this/that, etc) when their motives can be just as disgraceful as some right wing extremists groups.

Funny, I made the same argument when Reagan was president and being hailed as a hero by the right while millions of unemployed steelworkers fell off the unemployment charts.  This isn't an Obama creation.

I'm on record as saying I fell for the Obama BS the first time around.  I was captivated by the thought of someone coming in and spearheading 'the most transparent administration ever'.  Instead I got......this.  Never in the history of the presidency has someone abused the office as much and returned so little to the people.  I could get into the Executive Orders, Fast and Furious, etc....but they've been done to death on this board already.  His administration has done some truly awful and unforgivable things.  Terms like underhanded and shady are well deserved.  The spying on Americans, using the IRS to crush your political enemies, the Benghazi debacle...the litany of his moral crimes against the American people is staggering.  History will not be kind to his time in office. 

But I still get back to 'disappointing'.  With just a teaspoon of sugar he could have truly transformed this country.  During his first term, he had a built in cabal of Republicans (including the nominee he beat) that would have voted alongside him on all kinds of things.  With even a LITTLE ego stroking he would have had them in the palm of his hand, providing "bi-partisan cover".  Instead, he chooses to be a peacock ##### instead of a deal maker.  He scorches the earth into two sides, "with me" or "against me".

A lot of people like to crack on W as a bad president, but I never got the impression that he felt he wasn't the President for all of the American people.  He was a lot like Jimmy Carter in that regard.  So was Bill Clinton.  If Obama had even PRETENDED to be that guy he had a willing partner in the media to spread his message to the masses.  But he was only interested in being the President for people on "his side".

If you're not on the Obama side of the fence, you're considered the enemy.  But if you're on the Obama side of the fence, the taxpayer money flows to even the most worthless of projects (Solyndra) or protects the most racist of causes (DOJ sweeping the Black Panther voter intimidation crimes under the rug).  By definition, if you're on "the other side", everything you want or do is obstructionist and wrong.  I hate how he's divided us.  I've lost good friends because of this....man.

Anybody that talks job participation rate without at least acknowledging the baby boomers aging out of the workforce is being misleading.

But I still get back to 'disappointing'.  With just a teaspoon of sugar he could have truly transformed this country.  During his first term, he had a built in cabal of Republicans (including the nominee he beat) that would have voted alongside him on all kinds of things.  With even a LITTLE ego stroking he would have had them in the palm of his hand, providing "bi-partisan cover".  Instead, he chooses to be a peacock ##### instead of a deal maker.  He scorches the earth into two sides, "with me" or "against me".

A lot of people like to crack on W as a bad president, but I never got the impression that he felt he wasn't the President for all of the American people.  He was a lot like Jimmy Carter in that regard.  So was Bill Clinton.  If Obama had even PRETENDED to be that guy he had a willing partner in the media to spread his message to the masses.  But he was only interested in being the President for people on "his side".

If you're not on the Obama side of the fence, you're considered the enemy.  But if you're on the Obama side of the fence, the taxpayer money flows to even the most worthless of projects (Solyndra) or protects the most racist of causes (DOJ sweeping the Black Panther voter intimidation crimes under the rug).  By definition, if you're on "the other side", everything you want or do is obstructionist and wrong.  I hate how he's divided us.  I've lost good friends because of this....man.

He's a bad guy and a horrible leader.  His lack of intellectual curiosity and inability to learn from his mistakes is troubling.  He's ignorant of how the economy works, and doesn't seem all that interested in learning how it does.  He's turned America into a joke around the world with Obama as the punchline.  He may have initiated foreign policies that we may never recover from (if Iran nukes Israel, the blood is ALL on Obama's hands).

So, is he the worst ever?  Could be.  All I know is a better case can be made that he's the worst than one for him being the best.

Wow the right has done a number on you.  Stop watching Fox news and you might see a different truth.

The problem with your assumption is that I use all forms of communication to research a subject. 

Those that rely on just certain outlets and ignore others (like you, apparently) will miss some things, both good and bad.  I prefer to have a grip on the opinions of both sides, without dismissing their point of view out of hand.  I seek out the full picture.  Real Clear Politics is a good site that tries to balance out news links for differing political perspectives.  You should check them out.

Being the President is a difficult challenge for even the best of us.  President of the United States is the toughest job on the planet.  Obama, I'm certain, has had to make some insanely critical choices that we'll never know about.

But of the choices we DO know about, he's been quite inept.  Hopefully this experience will aid him in becoming a better community organizer once he's out of office.

I don't agree with the title of this thread but right now we're at war in more countries than we we were in 2008. Obviously I guess you meant boots on the ground but even so we have men in 3 countries now instead of two. Not including boots on ground it's now 5 nations we are now bombing and supplying proxies in as well.  Not to mention we have growing major military tension with Russia and China which we did not have in 2008.
