Guess which side she takes, and is it utterly hilarious to you that you knew even before you looked at the story which side she was on?

I'm always grateful when a celebrity jumps in with their informed political opinion.
Me too. I love when the radical independence that money brings results in the most utterly uncreative and sadly traditional political thought that money can buy. And not to mention the possibility that...nobody cares!

The title of the thread implied what side she is on.
That was the point of title. It's so utterly predictable, one can't help but apparently not laugh.

What does her weight have to do with the rightness or wrongness of her opinion?
The point of the thread is not rightness nor wrongness -- it's this: Fat Hollywood Musical Movie Star Has Political Opinion; News At Eleven About Which Side It Comes From.

So it doesn't make you laugh?
No, I get a big chuckle out of it. I darn near beam when I see it in my Yahoo and Facebook feed. I don't even need to click the link, I just crack up.

My comment just takes into account that I'm looking at the small sample size results of those that voted in this particular thread.

She said that America needs better gun laws and that we should follow Australia's example. I don't think it's realistic, given the amount of guns in our society, for us to follow Australia's example, but she's absolutely right that we need better gun laws, starting with the no-brainer mandatory background checks on all private sales.

I'm glad she said it. More people need to speak up.

Well, we've already got our quota of obese Australian musical movie actresses chiming in; perhaps we need to find somebody in the New York gay community to speak out about it and lend it some real weight.

Why do you keep harping on the fact that she's fat? What does it have to do with anything?

And I suspect that her opinion on this issue is more due to her being from another country rather than her being a movie star. Poll after poll suggests that most people around the world really do not get where we're coming from when it comes to gun ownership, and believes we're kind of crazy on this issue. I think they have a point.

Honestly? What we need are more reasonable people like you to realize that libertarian idealism doesn't have to extend to every facet of gun ownership. You're not crazy, rockaction, yet you allow the crazies to rule the day on this issue.

I dunno. Seems like fat actresses never say anything remotely conservative.

:shrugs:

Jesus, has that woman been around since Casual Sex?

Next thing you know we will be fighting off Moe Tucker and Exene stuff about punk rock and conservative women.

OK, rockaction, I was upset at you for starting this thread, but you've redeemed yourself by bringing up Moe Tucker and Exene. So you're good in my book.

Was I supposed to google what she said? Voted no on the hilariousness.
Here's what offended the OP:

"I don't like getting political but America you really have to follow Australia's example re gun laws," she tweeted.

"I don't remember a mass shooting in Australia since they overhauled the gun laws. It seems like every week in America there's a shooting.

"I just want people to be safe, especially people that are doing one of my favorite things in the WORLD - going out to the movies 2 have fun."

That's probably a pretty good way to put it, if we're in a Charles Schulz mood.

It is not unlike a funny funeral.

She tweeted her "lecture" and used the number 2 instead of the word to. Do you follow her on twitter or something?

No, but apparently this is news on both my Yahoo! page and Facebook feed. I am now squarely in the demographic of people who need to hear obese actresses' opinions on my social media pages. ####e.

There are plenty of fat conservative women out there. Just head to Mississippi.
Fat actress, Hollywood, conservative, post-1990.

We couldn't even start a tim draft with that criteria. Wouldn't get past 1.03, and I can't think of the .02.
Delta Burke and Kirstie Alley have to be in the top 5.
I now love this draft idea.
Jennifer Love Hewitt is a nice sleeper

And here I thought it was the left that was trying to crush "free speech" and didn't want people to speak their minds.

What I think is funny is the hypocrisy. If you are an actor that agrees with the right then your opinion has value. Heck they'll even elect you as President. But if you disagree then you should keep it to yourself bexuase its meaningless.

Since there's about five people in Hollywood willing to speak out against liberals, we'll just say they should all be quiet. Good?

honest question bromigos what is worse a famous person leveraging their fame to have a political opinion or arguing about politics on the internet take that to the bank
