Offensive? (1 Viewer)

“In 1947, Congress passed the 22nd Amendment, limiting the President to 2 terms.
They said, “Too much power for too long is a threat to our freedom. “

It’s time to limit Congress for the same reason!

Offensive if posted by the AFF? (White Supremacy group)?

Or is it the truth if you believe in the message of the post regardless of who posts it?

 Discuss.

Are you asking if we should decide on the validity of term limits (or anything for that matter) based on whether a white supremacist supports it?

If so, then no.

I’m not sure. I was told that the post should be deleted and if you agree with the message just post the message itself because being that it came from a white supremacy group is offensive.

Oh - in that case, I would say yes, it's probably best to steer clear from using a white supremacist group to support your points.  It shouldn't matter but it's poor form at best.  If I believe that we should get rid of time change I'm not going to quote David Duke to back me up.

Did someone tell you to delete the post because it was offensive, or did they tell you to delete the post because it made you look bad?

Someone just recently edited their thread title to remove "White Supremist" because several people complained, even though the title was just the headline of an article and used by the FBI as a descriptor. The OP was accused (I think) of using WS as click-bait.

Had a similar experience posting an article from CNN I thought was interesting. Used the same headline, quoted the article and posted a link to the full thing. People attacked me for ebing misleading without realizing it was simply direct quotes.

No, my sister blindly posted that meme and it was from a group called Freed Fighters for America or something like that. I know she doesn't know that they are a white supremacist group and neither did I. I liked the sentiment of the message as well and "Liked" it.

My daughter texted me and told me to tell my sister about where it came from and that she should take it down and type it out if she really wanted to post it. I told her to stop being a social media warrior that she knows her Aunt has no clue and didn't mean anything by it, that too many people nowadays just look for things to be offended by and I'm done with it. Leave it be.

I agree people should realize what they are posting and I agree with AAA above that said it's poor form etc.

Term limits need to happen.

Term limits are not offensive

Rick Scott (R. FL) ran for Senate with this as a centerpiece of his agenda. He has somehow forgotten all about it since he was elected. I’m fully in favor of term limits.

 "Are term limits offensive?"  No.

The correct answer is nobody is congress or senate would ever push or pass a term limit bill.  As we have seen, it is very rare for people to ever leave these jobs.  They either get voted out or die in office.

Term limits for all elected officials would be step in the right direction in curbing the amount of corruption that goes on in our political system.

I agree. This would have a direct impact on lobbyists imo and that’s a good thing.
