Did some dealing during a recent rookie draft.
12 team IDP/PPR
Gave V. Cruz, Dontario Poe, Aldon Smith, 3.10
Got Cordaelle Patterson, Wesley Woodyard, 3.03
Then I made this one.
Gave Percy Harvin
Got 2.09 (Terrance West), 3.03 (traded for Terrence Williams), 2015 2nd rounder (will be top 3-5)
I'm sure most won't like the second trade, but I'm happy. Won 2 of the last 3 titles in this league without Harvin for the most part. I already had sick depth at WR and needed RB help.
Not sure which one I like less to be honest.I think you have to be a huge believer in CP to believe he will ever be worth more than Cruz. He sure isn't right now to me. Both D players you gave up I like better than Woodyard so the only place I like it is moving up in the 3rd.
I like Harvin by miles in the 2nd one
It would surprise me if many valued Cruz over Patterson. Patterson is still raw and outscored Cruz last year. Woodyard is a tackle machine in the middle. Smith isn't playing this year. Poe isn't a big scorer. We can run a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. There are plenty of DTs on the waiver wire that I can plug in.I understand Harvin is a dynamic player, but the past 2 years have been frustrating. The hip scares me. As I said I have plenty of depth at WR. In a league where you have to start 3-4 RBs I desperately needed to add 1. I have McCoy, Reggie, Sproles, Ingram and Ivory.
He outscored Cruz? Only leagues I have that he outscored Cruz in are return leagues in which case I reverse my decision on that deal but would have been helpful to know scoring before. In straight PPR leagues Cruz outscored him by a solid margin still in Cruz's worst year
If it is return yards the Harvin deal is even worse than I originally thought
Yeah... not sure how Patterson could have outscored Cruz last year. Short of as you said, return yardage. Cruz averaged 12.68ppg last season in my standard PPR league vs Patterson's 9.40. Cruz didn't even play the last two weeks of the season and still outscored Patterson by 25 points. And as you said, if it's a return yardage league than that first deal actually seems really solid to me then. I don't put much value on a DT, usually you can get lucky off waivers on one. Every year I pickup a DT off waivers who ends up having a Top 10 season.
But as you also said, if it's a return yardage league than the Percy trade seems so insanely lopsided I'd almost think it was collusion. Trading one of the most dynamic players in the NFL for a bunch of scrap metal is a tough sell to me. And I actually like Terrance Williams (although, I'm unsure how you got Terrance Williams for a 3rd round pick, that's a whole different conversation). Unless your WR depth is like Calvin, Green and Julio or something stupid, I don't like trading away Harvin.
