Sucks this wasn't Thornton...Patrick Marleau natural hat trick then to top it off scores another to make it 4 goals in 13 minutes.
Unbelievable !!!
If you take out history with the team, there's no reason not to protect Staal over Koivu. Younger and has outproduced him his entire career aside from 15-16, way better contract too.if it was me, I'd protect Zucker over Staal (not considering Brodin/Dumba over Zucker, which I would favor the D). having a great year but he's got two years left and is long in the tooth. you can find another aging center that will give you similar. Zucker has been fantastic for the last 6 weeks and is just reaching his potential.
yes, Koivu has no movement. along with Suter, Parise, and Poms. if you throw those out obviously things change quite a bit. I agree Staal has the more attractive contract for what he provides even with the extra year.If you take out history with the team, there's no reason not to protect Staal over Koivu. EDIT - I assume Koivu has to be protected with a NMC because looking at his contract, you would definitely expose him and he wouldn't be picked.
You are basing the points system's worth by how the worst six teams in a conference stack up? Of those seven teams, five have exactly 20 regulation wins. While your argument may have merit, this seems to be an odd Exhibit A.6 teams in the East tied with 49 points and 1 with 50.
This point system is so useless.
That is incorrect. You are looking at ROW which includes OT wins. In those games, the loser also gets a point so 3 points are awarded while a regulation win only awards 2 points. You are basing the points system's worth by how the worst six teams in a conference stack up? sure, but that's not my point.Wouldn't the top 16 be nearly the same as it is now?
at Rado and Zona having their points go downBut RECORDS!Aaron Rudnicki said:If they went to a points system that awarded 3 points for regulation win, 2 points for win in OT or shootout, 1 point for loss in OT or shootout, and 0 points for regulation loss, standings would look like this:
Sabres are on fireUgh, ugly loss for Preds last night. After they went up 4 - 2 they really seemed to mail it in and just try to outlast for the last 5 or so minutes. Let Bufallo score two late goals, then take it in OT. Bleh.
Would also change third period strategy. Too many teams now play for the point.sure, but that's not my point.
my point is there's no clear separation between the teams fighting for the last few playoff spots. they are all bunched into one huge blob now, when there should be more separation.
1 vs 3 and a ripper. beauty of a goal.
Sabres looked to be far more aggressive at the net though...Saros kept them in it with some great saves. Thought Buffalo outplayed them for most of the 2nd and 3rd.Ugh, ugly loss for Preds last night. Always sucks giving up those late goals with the G pulled.
Gotta keep the streak alive somehow.teams who have taken the most games to OT:
FLA 18
DET 18
NJD 17
PHI 16
EDM 16
BUF 15
VAN 15
teams with fewest games that went to OT:
SJS 9
WPG 9
CGY 8
TBL 8
COL 7
NYR 5
37% of all games played by Florida or Detroit have gone to OT this year and resulted in 3 standings points being given out.
In comparison, only 10% of Rangers games have gone to OT.
I think Justin Williams tips the scales hereI'm trying to imagine what would happen if the Caps and a team coached by Boudreau met in the playoffs, and I literally can't envision a plausible scenario for how OT in Game 7 would play out.
They just shut out Pittsburgh on TuesdayWild up 5-1. I'd be surprised if Hitchcock makes it through the season. The Blues have thrown in the towel.
Bad wording from me. They appear to have thrown in the towel tonight. They just shut out Pittsburgh on Tuesday
