The part that bothers me is, that looking at their list of players in the draft that they are "interested" in. Not a single one looks to be a legit 1st rd pick.
Why are you assuming they are targeting them as first rounders? Good teams cover their bases. I'm sure there are a boatload of players that the Eagles [and many other teams with credible personnel departments] want to get better looks at 'just in case' the opportunity is there to move up or back and still grab them.
I couldn't agree more, and I think that you can have a better draft by getting value in later rounds. I also totally understand the fact that the Eagles never like to tip their hand. But when you draft at the end of the round, there is no telling who is going to be there. I would just have expected at least a few guys to be brought in that might fit the bill as a 1st rounder.Just one side note...The last time I can remember them bringing in only later round guys, was when they came out of the blue to move up in the draft.
By "bringning in" do you mean visiting the NovaCare? If so, you may have just missed these:
Coming to Philly
OT Eugene Monroe - Virginia ... likely top 5 pick
OT Andre Smith - Alabama ... top 20 pick
TE Brandon Pettigrew - Oklahoma State ... 1st rounder
RB Donald Brown - UConn ... likely late 1st rounder
RB LeSean McCoy - Pitt ... 2nd rounder
DE Lawrence Sidbury - Richmond ...2nd rounder
DE Robert Ayers - Tennessee ... mid 1st to early 2nd
S Patrick Chung - Oregon ... 2nd, maybe 3rd rounder
S Rashad Johnson - Alabama ... 3rd rounder
There are many others they have had private workouts with, etc...
