I look for there to be alot of passing offense vs. Atlanta. Sounds like the team is expecting a tough front for McCoy, so it could lead to a good day for Maclin, Celek, and DJ.
I think I'm going to pat myself on the back on this one.LOLSeriously though, I'm loving the complete turn around of the passing game for Kevin. The loss of DJax hurts but, it was good to see them get him more involved right off the bat. :bowtie:

Feeling good about today's win. I think everyone did a good job and the coaches get 2 thumbs up to me in a lot of areas. I'm loving how Kolb has looked and he seems to have a very good chemistry with Maclin.

I loved how tough Buckley ran too!

Everyone is impressed with Kolb but honestly, IMO, he performed as expected given protection...and that's what we should be talking about...HE HAD PROTECTION!!!!

Is this line finally starting to gel, or was Atlanta just terrible today? Dunlap held his own, and Kolb really had time most of the day. If they can give the QB that kind of protection every week, this Offense will put a hurtin on most teams.

The defense, after getting gashed on the ground earlier this year, has put up two solid efforts in a row.

 Gonna get interesting if they can continue to play like this!

The early gameplan had enough misdirection, rolls and endarounds to not even worry about forming a pocket around Kolb. That gaetmeplan helped the O-line, as in they had to call the game with hiding those weaknesses in pass block while highlighting the playmakers in DeSean, McCoy and Maclin. Excellent job there. Now, ATL didn't really do themselves favors by pressuring the O-line much. The challenge will come next week vs. TEN as they lead the league in sacks and have one of the best defenses in the league.

Fantastic early game plan kept the ATL D off balance and Kolb received protection but made the throws. He did what was necessary in his 5th NFL start. To me that's what is so easily forgotten. Kolb has been in Philly for while but has limited game experience. He has, however, done more to impress than to disappoint in the time he's had as the starter. The 2 TD throws to Maclin and the TD to DJax were $$. So who is starting next week??

At the game today, I was very impressed. Obviously the DJax issue looms, but this game didn't feel contested from the start. It was effectively a snoozer and really ALL of the issues we've had weren't in evidence today. We made tackles. We stopped the run. We didn't give up a ton of pressure. Our QB threw downfield with accuracy. We had balance. We used the clock well. It was awesome, and kind of strange. What was really bizarre is how much time Eldra Buckley got during the end of the game. Being there I didn't know if McCoy got hurt, but from what I can gather, it was just a case of using Buckley in that grinder role. :hifive:

Thats right. They rested McCoy. No need to risk further injury on him with the game in hand. Buckley did pretty well. Should be interesting to see how they appraoch it when Harrison gets up to speed.

I was driving back from Rochester yesterday afternoon so I only got to hear the second half on the radio. How bad were Akers' misses? Is this the start of a slump or an isolated incident?

It was ugly. It was one of those situations where, thankfully, the misses never really put the outcome in danger. But three missed FGs is a HUGE deal because, let's be honest, most games are decided by a few points.

All wide left. Seemed like he was overcompensating for the wind. Was not as windy as it seemed I guess...Not encouraging to see, though.

Props to G-King who said D-Jax would be heavily invloved in week 6's gameplan. He was well on his way to a ridiculous day.

Nah it was the pink slipper. Once he ditched that he made the next kick.

Thanks man, glad to help. I can tell you he was in for a sick day until then. Maclin was the benefit of DJ getting hurt, but it was still nice to hear the offense was going to be pass heavy on Sun.

it was incredibly shocking to see andy reid just going with the most logical/obvious option for once in making sure kolb avoided pressure. hopefully he can keep his ego in check the rest of the way.

The Falcons K was the first to miss a FG (also wide left) and it was down at the same goalpost as Akers 3 misses (all wide left), so 4 wide left alltogether on that end. That was the opposite side of the stadium from us so don't know what the wind was like but the flags on the posts weren't moving much. I would think after the first couple misses left I'd make sure at that point to compensate the other way and if I was going to miss it, it would be right. Maybe he finally figured it out by the 4th attempt but shouldn't take that long for him especially on his home field.

:pickle: That's what I said too - the pink shoes were distracting him as he looked down before the kick...

Quarterback Kevin Kolb was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Eagles' 31-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday.

Kolb, filling in for the injured Michael Vick, completed 23 of 29 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns. It's the second time in five career starts that Kolb has won the award. He was also honored last season after the Kansas City game.

Pretty impressive, imo. Starting to seem a little silly labeling him a bust after 3 career starts.

Those that did knew nothing about football. You have to give a guy a shot before you can declare him a bust. Alex smith is a bust. Jason Campbell is a bust. Kevin Kolb we still don't know but signs point to him being able to play pretty good in the NFL.

Something I just have to share....

Was driving home and I heard DC Sports Radio (AM980) saying that Redskins' coach Mike Shanahan is working with Donovan McNabb on his mechanics, trying to fix the issues with his delivery.... apparently he has a propensity to throw the ball in the ground too much due to his delivery....

McNabb played down any changes, saying his footwork is "one of many" areas coaches have been trying to improve. "There's people with footwork worse than mine," he said.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...isrc=nl_cuzhead

"There's people with footwork worse than mine," he said. Another one of McNabb's strong points, deflecting criticism.

In Kolb's 6th start I see something like 220 with a TD and a pick or maybe even 2.

Tennessee's D is good and can get to the QB. Being without Jackson is what's going to sting the most (and something Vick supporters will not mention). I think we need the running game more then ever this week and hopefully we can escape with a win on the road.

FYI I'm an EAGLES FAN I like both Vick and Kolb.

Yes this is in another thread but I wanted it in one I'll actually revisit.

Yeah that hurt to say. You have to run with Vick after the bye IMO

I hope he can cover a WR.

My intent wasn't to imply Kolb played bad. From the turnover standpoint 2 of the 3 were the cause of poor OL play and the other was just a desperation hail mary type of pass.

The D allowing 27 unanswered killed us for sure and just about everyone in the secondary had a hand in looking just awful!

We have a very rough stretch coming out of this bye, it should be interesting.

Three things.

A) How can Andy/Morningwig call so many pass plays when we were leading by 9? Take some damn time off the clock. Where was Eldra who ran the game out for us against Atlanta?

B) Did we not know what Britt and Collins were doing? How the hell could Britt be so wide open AFTER he had already torched us for like 150 yards? No one covered him? This was Nate Allen's first game that he looked like a rookie but what about Hobbs? He played like one too.

C) McCoy has got to learn how to hold onto the ball. This is the 2nd game that was directly attributed to his fumble that caused us a loss. Sure other things happened but that turned the tide.

Terrible game that could have easily been a win.

On a bright note: We held Chris Johnson to 66 rushing yards on 24 carries (and 7 receiving yards).........

For A- I'm not 100% sure but didn't that 9 point lead only last one play? I thought after we went up 9 the next play was the Britt 80 yard TD. For B- you forgot Mikell too, he also looked awful and if not for an overthrow Britt would have had another long TDFor C- I can't put that on McCoy. There is NO WAY you don't block the NT on the 3 yard line!! That was totally on the OL in my opinion. He didn't have a chance.

 I'll take CJ for 200 on the ground every day in exchange for a win.
Just a tad bit of sarcasm there Jason.......I wanted the win more than holding Johnson in check. The stats vs. Johnson looked a lot better while we had the lead. But you've got to admit, the run defense has been somewhat improved this year.

what the heck happened to the secondary? Looked like amateur hour there in the fourth quarter. Kolb looked OK, not great. McCoy looked good. O-line was decent except for one critical mistake (and that came moments after a forced reshuffling while King Dunlap was hurt on the sideline)...actually, I was impressed that our "putrid" O-line stood up as well as it did against a good pass rush.

Team was far from perfect, but playing generally well on the road against a good team...until the fourth quarter meltdown in the secondary.

I am hard-pressed to name a worse performance by a defensive back than what I saw from Ellis Hobbs on Sunday. On top of not being able to cover Britt, he had several key penalties.

Asante Samuel trying to cover Fitz in the conference championship game?

Ive been biting my tongue, but Hobbs has been horrible thus far.

That said, I thought the selling out to Chris Johnson was a bad idea ... even after we were continually lit up. Why on earth did we not roll double or even triple coverage to him?
