ETA: Had 32 HR and hit .302 in 102 AAA games last yearJP Arencibia, who also hit two homers in his major league debut last August, showed on Friday why he was such a highly-regarded prospect coming up through the system and could be in line for a breakout campaign. The 25-year-old is expected to see more than half of the catching duties this season and should be able to put up some decent power numbers with the potent lineup surrounding him. While hitting for average might be a bit of a struggle, Arencibia has a high ceiling and should be considered a sleeper in mixed leagues, especially at a thin position.(Updated 04/02/2011).

Led the team in homers in ST!!! But, yeah. Not much fantasy significance except for Australians-only leaguesLuke Hugheswho replaces Nishioka in Minn?
If he can field the position, he may not be totally useless as a deep league MI option. He can hit a lttle and may be a better option in the two hole than Casilla. Hughes isn't going to steal bases though.Led the team in homers in ST!!! But, yeah. Not much fantasy significance except for Australians-only leaguesLuke Hugheswho replaces Nishioka in Minn?
Baltimore SP Zach Britton (2-0) allowed four hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings in the Orioles' 5-0 victory over Texas in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday. Britton walked three and struck out two batters during his second big league start. "He kept the ball off the fat part of the bat," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "Give him credit. He did a good job." The left-hander was aided by three double plays -- two of which came off the bat of Texas cleanup hitter Adrian Beltre. "We showed we can compete with a good team," Britton said. "We played really good baseball today, and that's what this is all about."The Rays lineup is dreadful especially without Longoria. Id take the performances by the O's pitchers Guthrie, Tillman, & Britton with a grain of salt.

If you have empty space, I would say for sure. I'm still curious about how much he is going to play. The corner infield/corner outfield situation in Texas is getting crowded.Chris Davis![]()
I think he's worth watching but I wouldn't burn a spot for him quite yet. What do you guys think of Masterson?I owned him last year, was excited and he burned me, but it looks like there could be reasons to believe he's getting better vs lefties (his only roadblock to studliness).Lefties are hitting .300 against him this year (.290 last year), but he's striking them out like crazy and not walking them (8:1 K:BB so far). He was pretty awesome in AUG/SEPT last season, strikes guys out and gets a ton of ground balls.I think I'm jumping back on the bandwagon and hoping I was just a year too early in 2010. Then again, every fantasy baseball decision I've made for the last 2 years has been wrong.
I'm pretty encouraged by his BAL start. They put 5 lefties/switch-hitters in the lineup for him and he turned in another great start.Lefties are still hitting a healthy AVG against him (though a tad lower after last night), but his K/BB against them is now 10:1. In previous seasons, it was an abyssmal 1.21.I'll keep my seat on the bandwagon for now and hope I can bail before the bandwagon gets driven off a cliff.I think he's worth watching but I wouldn't burn a spot for him quite yet. I'd go with Smoak. Most consider Byrd a steady, reliable option, but I don't see the benefit of a reliable 15HR power, .280 AVG and very little speed. Smoak's got some upside and would actually be a tradeable asset if he got hot.Gotta have a replacement for Hamilton, not that either is a great option but best available on our waivers were Marlon Byrd and Justin Smoak. Points based league. Any opinions on who to roll with?
