I wonder if Matt Holliday will play tomorrow? Guy is probably in intensive care right now getting a blood transfusion. Hope he makes it.
He's off the roster for the game tonight. Replaced by Adron Chambers.GAMER.
Holliday's decision to choose baseball over football is looking smarter every day. To his credit, he did look like a football player when breaking up that double play in the 4th. That was serious. For Ranger fans watching (and drinking) there was a glimmer of hope he could be called for interference, considering his feet were pretty far from the base and he never touched it.

Not a call you can count on getting though. That's the way baseball go. Holliday did what he needed to do and it lead to a run. Good strong play by him.
If umps would tighten that up and call correctly and consistently, that would be illegal and middle infielders would have to actually tag the bag to get the out as well. There would still be plenty of great plays and breakup attempts, they'd just be AT THE BAG. I don't know, I guess the umps would just screw it all up anyway.

Geez. I was just taking a poke at how stupid that all-star rule is. I'm not a Ranger or Cards fan.
Oh bull####... there's still a glimmer of Card fan in you from 1982, 1985, (not 1986, that was a Mets year!) 1987......
:shrug; They trained locally. Went to 10 Cards games a year as a kid. I like em, but I didn't even high-five the dog when they scored last night.

a flashback Sunday

zoom lens feelings

Close-up darkroom

sweet talk in my ear

Her hot spot love

for me is strong

This freeze-frame

moment can't be wrong

Walk off game seven homers or hits? Homers there has only been one.

Hits? 1912 World Series, the Marlins in 1997 and the Twins in 1991 come to mind. I'd guess there are around seven.

Posnanski asked on twitter who the best Texas Rangers ever are.

@jposnanski - Unofficial results for best Ranger ever: 1. Pudge; 2. Nolan; 3. A-Rod; 4. Young; 5. Chuck Norris.

It should be Juan Gone not Nolan.

That has to be possibly the worst ball call in the history of baseball given the pitch and the context.
Pitch and context don't matter when it comes to balls and strikes. A ball is a ball and a strike is a strike no matter the situation. Just ask Livan Hernandez.

Answer was 5: 1924, 1960, 1991, 1997, 2001The 1912 series ended with a sac fly and it was also game 8 (game 2 was a 6-6 suspended tie).

God that was a great game.
Tough loss for Johnnie Mac and Eephus.

The home plate ump was squeezing Matty all day
