Entry 107782

This entry is still alive

Still alive thanks to first time contributions from David Wilson (yikes), Devery Henderson and Dwayne Allen.

Only guys not to contribute are Locker, Vereen, L Miller, Royster, Casey, Blackmon, Sanders and Royal.

Main concerns: Locker as 3rd qb with Flacco and Luck. Benson may be done for the year. Both DEF have byes in Week 8.

Went with quantity and value (in my eyes). Why i stuck with Royster in stead of Morris, i have no idea
Without looking, I'm fairly certain Morris wasn't an option. He'd have been on my team.

This is correct....he would have had Benson kind of ownership if he was in the contest.

Really glad I have 29 players on my roster right now as I lost Cedric Benson, Simpson and Amendola this week while Locker is also still hurt. 26 of my 29 players have contributed thus far with the only ones not making it on the scoreboard being Vereen, Alex Green (who I suspect will make it on the board now with Benson's injury) and Dwyer who may never make it on this year. It would also be really nice if Nicks were to return although surprisingly Kendall Wright has been scoring well recently for me. This week I had first time contributions from Devery Henderson (figured I would get 2 or 3 really big games out of him and the rest duds), Dolphins Defense, Dwayne Allen, Ronnie Brown and David Wilson.

I've been saying it every week and I'll continue saying it: God bless Reggie Wayne. Dude is nails every week.

Also, with Wilson finally counting for me this week, I'm down to OAK Defense and one of my kickers as the only non-contributers thus far.

Also, losing Benson this week will really hurt. I need two of my under-achieving RB corp to step it up since Forte and Bush will be on bye. Looking at you BJGE or Mark Ingram....

It's amazing at how many players I'm kicking myself for removing them from my team. This week it's going to be Matt Hasselbeck because with Locker hurt and Brees on bye, it'll probably be my last week.

Surely this is only interesting to me, but I officially submitted nine different entries before finally settling on my tenth and final entry. (In reality, I created dozens of entries, but these ten were the only ones I actually entered and submitted on the website at some point.) I saved them all just for "fun" and just decided to check on them. Here are the results for how each of them would've fared:

ENTRY SIZE AVG SCORE STATUS1 22 158.95 Eliminated in week 42 19 166.10 Eliminated in week 53 21 163.39 Eliminated in week 54 23 159.39 Eliminated in week 55 23 174.13 Alive6 23 175.27 Alive7 22 174.29 Alive8 22 163.83 Alive9 26 164.81 Alive10 23 189.07 Alive
Looks like I made the right call so far!

Donald Brown going down is gonna kill me. I had a day-long advantage over all the guys depending on Benson...and now I'm screwed. Week 6 gonna be super tough for me, week 7 also.

I think Hillis may have been the worst pick of the contest - I got rid of Mendenhall and Wayne and added a cheaper WR to get Hillis onto my team :bag:

Looking at the changes I made in that final iteration, going down from 26 to 23 players:I removed:Dexter McClusterTaiwan JonesDez Bryant Jason AvantSteve Smith (STL)Mario ManninghamJon BaldwinBrandon PettigrewI added:Torrey SmithMichael CrabtreeTitus YoungDanny AmendolaTony GonzalezMartellus BennettGlad I did that. :thumbup:

Will the Big Ben stat change affect the cutoff number?. 1/2 point off bottom.....I hear the end approaching...tic tic tic

D Wilson and Lynch tied this week so either Wilson is off the dead weight list or Lynch is on the every week list. Dead weight list = FJax, Simpson, Bironas and Wilson???. Every week list = Gonzalez and Lynch???. Nineteen others have contibuted at least once - three are 4 timers, five are 3 timers, three are 2 timers, and eight are only in once. Perhaps the large number of one timers supports the argument which has been made here in favor of larger rosters. Having played with a smaller roster with quite a few studs in the past and no $ to show for it, I tried something different thistime. Does this really matter when compared to finding the reason for the Big Bang or the answer to securing World Peace? Probably not, but those things don't generate many posts.

Gonna be a tough stretch for me. I'm one of the bajillion Benson + Amendola owners. This week I have Lafell and Blackmon on bye in my WR corps -- a whole bunch of "so what?" on bye there. But add Amendola to that and all of a sudden I'm feeling a tad thin there (6 active, but one is Greg Little, aka "Useless"). RB is the real issue for me: I have Benson out and Forte/M. Bush on bye, leaving me R. Bush, Thomas, and S. Jackson as my only options. To quote the great Judge Smalls: "Please, please, please, please, please, please" get into the endzone this week, Steve.

With Cassel out (and my backup to Brees), I'll need to find another 5 points from my other guys. I suppose it could be worse...at least he can't fumble or throw a pick and get knocked out before getting positive points.

Taking into account most injuries and byes this week:

1 Team will only field 5 starters,

1 team 6

18 teams will have 7 starters

80 teams will only have 8.

593 will be missing 1 starter.

110 teams will get a 0 from the QB position

54 will get at least 1 0 from the RB position

93 will get at least 1 0 from the WR position

274 will get a 1 0 from the TE position

152 will get a 0 from the PK position

64 will get a 0 from the Def.

16.2 from Britt is okay by me with another 14 from suisham.

Unfortunately, Mendenhall with an achilles injury... now that's going to hurt.

Gould came through with 12 points on Suisham's bye. Suisham returned the favor by scoring 14 on Gould's bye. Only took these two kickers but they've given me a minimum of 12 points every week so far. :thumbup:

Same here. With Marshall and Blackmon off this week, Brit posting a decent score was huge. Calvin should be a lock for another score and hopefully Smith/Royal throw up a usable number.I could be hurting at flex with Benson/Mendy useless. Ridley/Foster will be my only RB scores. With Graham out, Chandler/Allen will have to pick up the slack.With 130 being the expected cutline you need to average 13 points per roster spot. Nice having two of those posted on the Thursday night game.

Wish I had Calvin to help out, but no luck there... If I need 13 points per spot... here's the mess I have and need 13 pts from two of them:
[*]Titus Young

[*]Steve Smith (STL)

[*]Jon Baldwin

[*]Leonard Hankerson

[*]Lestar Jean

[*]Eddie Royal

[*]Ryan Broyles

Ugly ugly ugly....

Went cheap on RBs hoping to get some production out of the combination of Mendy/Dwyer and Benson. Ooops. MJD is on bye and I am hoping Fred Jackson can finally put up something.

Hernandez, Amendola, Fred Jackson, Mendy/Dwyer, Britt, and Benson have all had injury issues but the team of misfits seems to stay alive. Even with the stinker by Mendenhall, Bironas and Britt have me off to a decent start this week. :boxing:

Injuries and byes mean Lucky Pierre Garcon is going to count for me whether he plays or not.

:unsure:

I am officially in trouble.

Who has been the biggest bang for the buck up to this point this year? Cedric Benson?

I know he is going to hurt me, but he has been good until now.

i think we would all agree that a large roster is better for the first 13 weeks. that was never really the argument.

I really thought the smaller rosters would do better during the first 13 weeks this year.

Same here more or less. Thankfully McFadden and Bush should be playing today. (okay, so not really cheap but cheaper than originally planned)With only Marshall and Gould on bye (and Suisham already gave 14 for kicker), Amendola, Mendenhall and Benson injured I'm relatively comfortable this week.

Frankly, there isn't a week that I'm worried because of byes. Underperforming players on the other hand are always a concern.

Benson at 15 pts per dollar and Flacco with 9 pts per dollar have been my best picks so far.

Gates at 2 dollars per point has been the worst of the ones I'll count. (Royster and Broyles don't count IMO)

Better than large rosters of better than they've historically done?

I thought the would close the gap...so better than historically done.

I had a shockingly high number of players going Thursday night, especially considering the struggles from Pitt and Tennessee. They came through for me though -- Bironas (19), Britt (16.2), Miller (15.7), Wallace (17.4).

-----------------

Drew Brees---------------->Bye

-----------------

Arian Foster

Ray Rice

David Wilson

Rashard Mendenhall---------------->Bad week already

Cedric Benson---------------->Out

Evan Royster

--------------------

Calvin Johnson

Julio Jones

Jordy Nelson

Justin Blackmon--------------->Bye

Danny Amendola------------->Out

---------------------------

Jimmy Graham----------------->Bye

Joel Dreessen

Dwayne Allen

---------------------

Billy Cundiff------------------>Cut......ouch

Matt Prater

-----------------

New York Jets

Seattle Seahawks

----------------------------
It's going to take a miracle....may the football gods make up for my poor choices and bad luck.

Sitting at 65 at halftime of the 1pm games.

Will add anything Flacco, T. Smith, CJ, and Allen do in the second half plus all of Foster and Ridley and Wilson/Royal/Chandler at flex.

Not great, but I'm expecting a cut in the 120's this week.
