Holy :X Looks like Robidas just broke his ankle. Ugly looking injury, as soon as he was down he shook his golves off and was in agony. Take off on a stretcher. Man that sucks.

All Hawks fans in Dallas tonight? They were really loud.
I got to take the family to the game and it was probably 20-25% Hawks fans. Like you said, they were loud. Overall the atmosphere was pretty good. The only thing that bothered me were Hawks fans cheering during the anthem, that should only happen in Chicago IMO.

It was a pretty strange game. It seemed like the ice was bad as there were alot of jumping pucks and weird bounces. Seemed like neither team wanted to shoot the puck, there were numerous great opportunities in the slot to pull the trigger that weren't fired. Yelling "Shoot!" was one thing both Hawks and Stars fans had in common.

Leaving your crease and giving up a goal happens every now and then, but Crawford almost let it happen twice. When he stayed in the crease he was rock solid. Chicago D made several dumb passes that wound up on a Stars stick point blank and Crawford came up big. Lehtonen played a great game as well. Tough to see that happen to Robidas. When a hockey player shows that kind of pain you know it's bad.

The couple that sat in front of us were Stars fans and it was pretty clear the guy was a huge hockey fan while the wife was simply there to pound wine and try to get on the video board by dancing. She clearly succeeded on both points. When Ben Smith scored the S/O winning goal the lady was cheering and dancing in the aisle because she thought Lehtonen made the save. I wish I had a video of the fail of her husband having to explain to her that the puck went in and that the Stars had lost.

Did they take interference/obstruction out of the rule book again? The Flyers aren't good, but this is some godawful hockey being played by the Wild, looks like 90's Devils reincarnated.

pretty shocking that with all that obstruction all game the refs found exactly zero obstruction/holding/interference. I guess I can't blame you from being able to tell the difference from an aggressive structured forecheck though, you don't see it in 90% of your conference games.

sarcasm aside, Wild puck skills were horrible last night and the Flyers barely even gave an effort. that 2nd period was one of the most disjointed, choppy periods I've seen in a while...just bad hockey. if the Flyers would have pushed back at all after the Wild came up empty while having the puck the entire 1st period, they would have taken that game. Wild are in yet another stretch of play where they can't finish anything.

the top line has come up with two big goals the past two games, but I'm still sick of seeing them try to force Pominville with Koivu and Parise. it doesn't work well. Cooke/Brodziak/Mitchell has been surprisingly their best line the last two games, in the offensive zone almost every shift.

Rosehill/Rupp tilt was cool.

You guys think you should be able to decline a penalty shot for a PP

Islanders would have been much better going 4 on 4 rather than the penalty shot and back to a pens PP

Yes. And I agree.

Pens Isles has become a damn good rivalry. Everybody knows what Sid and Geno have been doing but Neal is killing it. Huge bump to the PP with him back in the lineup.

Tyler Kennedy makes his return to PGH Thursday night. I'm expecting nothing less than a 3 pt night outta that pig nosed sniper.

It was Frans freaking Nielsen who got the opportunity. If I could hand pick one guy in the whole damn league to take that it's probably him. No way in hell do you turn that down.

So "structured forechecking" is how you disguise interference? ;) But the thing that bothers me is impeding the players at the blue line after dumping the puck into the zone. Your guys were openly knocking players down at the blue line after a dump in, that #### has been driving me crazy for years.

that gets called 95% of the time in this league. not sure what to tell you, it simply wasn't happening in that game.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/crosbys-game-winning-goal-against-isles-is-beautiful-for-both-the-offense-and-defense-involved/

It’s tough to believe Sidney Crosby has as many detractors as he does. His mannerisms may not be your cup of tea, but when Crosby makes incredible plays look routine – as he did in scoring the overtime goal in a 3-2 Pens win over the Isles – year after year, if you don’t give him his due, you’re a due-hoarder and I’m here to tell you it’s unhealthy.

But here’s what makes Crosby’s game-winner so beautiful to hockey people at the NHL level: the hardworking start of the play, not the spectacular end to it.

Many, if not most people will focus on the Pittsburgh superstar splitting through two Islanders and batting around a bouncing puck through goalie Anders Nilsson to end a game the Isles had led 2-0 for nearly 40 minutes. However, look closely at the beginning of the play....

Did you notice Crosby backchecking like a maniac as the Isles were attempting to break out of their zone? Did you see No. 87 strip Thomas Vanek of the puck before reversing course and pushing the puck past Nilsson? Because you’d better believe every NHL scout and GM watching that game saw it and envied it.

Crosby’s prowess at both ends of the ice is nothing new. But that’s the impressive part: he’s been doing it for so long now, it feels normal to see another highlight added to his reel.

That’s untrue. It’s not normal, what he does out there. It is impressive, and so is Crosby.

Get over yourselves, Crosbyphobes.

Strawman much? Pretty sure "Crosby detractors" mention nothing more than him being kind of a whiner, which is pretty fair if for whatever reason you care about that sort of thing, imo. I don't think there's anyone of consequence that actually detracts his play.

After watching last night's Leafs/Sharks game and seeing how Toronto was scored with a NHL season high in hits, I have zero faith in that stat.

Lundqvist extension is done at 7 years, $8.5MM AAV.
Highest paid goalie in hockey now I believe. Alot of money to pay a 31 y.o. goalie. Hopefully he doesn't slow down too much.

Boys, i know this is gauche, but I need your help. I've been fluking my way through a losers pool (sat night games) where all you have to do is pick a losing team. The pool is down from 175 to 6 guys, all with one pick left. Winner takes home over 2k on a peanuts buy-in. Was just ####### around for the sake of my FIL but i am remarkably still in it.

I need a pick for this sat. Leaning Florida but I'm sure everyone else is too. The Flames toasted like 25 teams last week so looking for something outside the box.

TIA

Sabres @ Montreal

or

Islanders @ Los Angeles

I absolutely believe it. If a team racks up a ton of hits in a game it's because they never had the puck. Usually the team with the most hits loses -Right now San Jose is last in the league in hits. Last season Chicago was last.

The bolded I understand. But 56 hits? The guy tabulating hits obviously was looking for something to do. No way Toronto had that many hits, especially having watched how that game played out.

Can you pick any game or any team even if you have used them before? Is it only Sat night games?
