***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

It's not much different in Toronto, which is 99% corporate.

I like the Joe for what it is but it doesn't fit with that team.

So is Edmonton gonna bust up this team and start trading these young guys for vets? I would imagine every team in the league would like a Taylor Hall, Nail or Eberle. What a huge disappointment, they just look awful.
I doubt it. Omark wasn't going to play in Edmonton this season and he's a FA at the end of the season, so they got something for him while they could. Omark reminds me of an earlier Oilers draft pick, Rob Schremp. Schremp showed some offensive touch in pre-season games, but couldn't duplicate his success in NHL regular season games. Fans would call in to the post game radio show asking why a potential superstar like Schremp wasn't in the lineup. He was a very good AHL player that thought he should be an NHL star if he didn't have the Oilers holding him back. He put up ok numbers with the Islanders a few seasons ago and now he's playing in Switzerland. They might trade one of Eberle, Hall, Yakupov, Gagner as part of a package if they can land a young, top pairing Dman in return. RNH is untouchable, so one of the wingers will be dealt most likely. There seems to be a lot of buzz about moving Gagner to the wing.

great comparison, forgot about Schremp. very similar and I could see the career path going the same way as well.

Hey Detroit Homers,

Have any of you ever had tickets that allowed you into the Olympia Club?

I just got 4 tix to see St Louis in Jan 8 rows from the glass, and Olympia entrance is included.

I will have my 2 boys and my nephew. Can kids go in there? Do players (maybe scratched players) ever go in there? Cost for dinner?

Any and all info is very appreciated

Parm
:sadbanana:
Yeah kids are allowed in there. Have no idea how much it would be for dinner, I got in there once and had some drink coupons. That's what us poor folks do, we use coupons. ;)
been in the olympia club a couple of times, usually you can see Gordie howe or Mickey Redmond down in there.

The restaurant is ok.

I was at a suite for the Sunday game vs TB and the lower bowl was never emptier, and the crowd was super quiet.

CBJ had a SH chance to put Flyers down 3-0 but hit crossbat and post, Flyers scored on rush other way and added another. Suddenly 2-2 after 2 and deja vu all over again for CBJ

Blue Jackets’ Marian Gaborik suffered a broken collarbone Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.Gaborik sustained the injury in the first period, when a hard hit by the Flyers’ Zac Rinaldo sandwiched him against Braydon Coburn. Gaborik had just returned from a knee injury suffered weeks earlier, and had played in just 12 games so far while racking up five goals and seven assists for 12 points.

The speedy right wing had been out since mid-November, but it seems as if the Blue Jackets have now lost him again indefinitely; there’s no timetable for Gaborik’s recovery.

Gaborik’s injury is also a loss for Slovakia, as he was slated to play for his home country at the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi.

Watching StL vs Edm...Edmonton is a horrible team. Hell, the entire franchise sucks. I know Bettman wants to get to 32 teams like the NFL but the NHL needs to get rid of some of these awful situations. Edmonton, Phoenix, Florida, Minnesota, Winnipeg, Columbus...get rid of these deadweights. No one outside of the immediate area cares about these teams and no one would watch if they made a run.
I agree, but I would include teams like Vancouver who can't win a cup in a half century existence. That should be an auto grounds for contraction. I mean what's the point? No one cares other than the comic relief with each 1st round exit.

Brasky does it again with another terrific posting. The Leaves have to be included in the contraction list as well.

I've always said it's about time we contract back to the original 6. None of the other teams matter, nor have they ever.

Maple Leaf fan wants to contract half the league so they have a chance to win a playoff series again.
Ballsonurchin is a Chicago Fan.
They should have been contracted a decade ago. Worst franchise in hockey back then. Nobody in a city of millions knew or cared that they existed.
very good point. I think we need to take a hard look at every team and make sure they aren't contractable.

In. Should we look at the teams in alphabetical order or by their current overall league standing?

They're dropping like flies in Ottawa. Methot hipchecked Crosby and sent him cartwheeling into Dupuis who landed awkwardly on his knee. Dupuis and Crosby are both in the dressing room. And one of the refs is hurt too

Might as well put the Pens at the top of the contraction list now.
