***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (2 Viewers)

The Philadelphia Flyers, the Minnesota Wild, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Edmonton Oilers are amongst the teams believed to have the best chance to try to get Christian Folin out of UMass Lowell.

Brasky, have read good things about this kid, have you (anyone) seen him play for a scouting report and his NHL readiness?

Doesn't have to go through draft process? Or already did?

Check out this high stick from last nights London Knights game.

Stolarz gets 8 games
Zadorov playing well?
He is a horse. Was surprised he was returned, but not burning a year on a team that is rebuilding was smart. He will be a monster I think

Pretty excited about both Sabres 1st rounders from 2013. At the time I was disappointed because I wanted a forward badly but it's nice to look forward to Zadorov and Ristolainen on the blueline for a long time. With Myers, Ehrhoff, Pysyk and McCabe they are in good shape on the blueline.

I agree this is the way to build a team for the long haul. You can always find the muckers and sign a decent forward here and there, but you must develop your own D

Hope Mike Smith is okay. Looked bad.

Ryan McDonagh was a monster last night. Sometimes before bed, I forget to say a quiet thanks to Bob Gainey, but not last night. Richards was on another level picking up for Stepan and MSL who had the flu, and the 4th line was amazing.
that 4th line had been perfect the last few games.
For so many years, the team has had barely anything of value playing on that line, and it creates such a different dynamic when you get real contribution. We're definitely seeing that now. Those guys have fit into their roles perfectly, and they are roles well designed for them.

We lost the 2012 ECF because the Devils 4th line absolutely murdered us. This line has a different dynamic, but the contribution is up there and sorely needed. Especially with some of the top 6 guys still struggling.

BIG matchup coming up with Flyers v Rangers.
Big win for the Rangers. Three points up on the Flyers with the Flyers having two games in hand.

Hank played a good game. Even though it looks like the Rangers will be playing every other night, I wouldn't mind seeing Talbot in net the next game. Give Hank a rest and let Talbot get some play.

McCormick gets jumped by 3 Blues, sucker punched in the eye pretty good. Yikes.

Refs layed the hammer down appropriately. Too bad the Wild PP blows.

This game looks like what every game in St. Louis has looked like for what feels like about a half decade

ie pathetic

Wings could ill afford to come out of those two games with Columbus and Montreal with zero points, yet that's what they did. Howard was off tonight but as usual, he got little help.

Can Stalock push for the starting job next season? His numbers are actually much better than Niemi's, albeit with 1/3 of the ice time.

Probably depends on what happens in the playoffs. Niemi has 1 more year left on his deal and Stalock is an RFA. It's a veteran team and Niemi has won a Cup so I think he'll hold onto the job unless he pulls a Fleury.

I wish Stalock was playing right now. Niemi just gave up a terrible goal. <_<

I was at the game tonight and the 1st two goals by the Jets looked pretty bad. Niemi has been pretty damn good throughout the season, but Stalock is a very competent backup.

New York Islanders owner Charles Wang is in talks to sell a majority stake in the team - per McKenzie.

If true - it would be the best Islander news in 15 years !!!!!

Brasky! Christian Folin? Teach me things.
I'm no help here, sorry
Good puck-moving defenseman with a heavy shot (put one through the net against Rud's Catamounts in the HE quarterfinals). Pretty solid in all three zones. Not a big hitter, but doesn't shy away from contact.
Thanks DD. Is he NHL ready or need some AHL seasoning?
Most people seem to think he would benefit from some time in the AHL, but he is definitely a legit prospect. I guess it might all depend on where he lands and what type of system they play (Lowell's system is pretty structured, but more like a pro style than a college team, so that will help).

The other question is, what will teams be able to offer him and how much will that factor into his decision? Is Holmgren (or Yzerman, or whoever) ready to burn a year on his deal for potentially a couple of weeks? Is that what it will take to sign him? Who knows.

most of those top college players seem to sign somewhere that will give them playing time right away.

stupid Union with a short-handed goal already
