A's (duh) need to get into Detroit's pen as early and as often as possible. And hope Cabrera's still not right.

At least we don't have to play a dumb play-in game. Or worry about the ####-hot Tribe yet. :hifive:

Yep.

In close games you'll only see the following relievers: Porcello, Smyly, Veras, Alburqurque, Benoit and hopefully Rondon. With Rondon that is an above average group, much better than the bullpen we had last year. Without Rondon it is still better than last year, but closer to average. We're in for a lot of close, low-scoring games I think.

 
So, I don't have cable TV. Also, I'm not sure I feel like sitting at a bar until 1 AM to watch the game tonight (yes, I'm old and tired).

Anyone have any idea how I can stream this thing tonight? Would welcome PMs.

Probably cost him three dugout smokes. I guess Oakland is one of the more Leyland-friendly visiting clubhouses, they have a smoke room for him and everything!!! Or maybe that's not true, read it on Twitter. :mellow:

Tigers are in a bad spot in the 8th because Al Al can't be trusted, Veras is a walk machine and Jimmy has decided that Smyly is a LOOGY+1. The last one I don't understand, would have liked to seen him finish out the inning there. Rondon is the #2 bullpen arm, and a guy that would have pitched the 8th, but he is hurt.

Yeah, it sucks when your starter HAS to go 7 every game.

Hell, I'd use Porcello as the righty in the 8th these days.

This is going to burn the Tigers at some point in the playoffs. They've had twelve months to address it.

 
Buck Martinez is a moron, Peralta will go right back to the bench and Kelly will be in LF. It's like it's the first time he's watched them all year, oof.

If Rondon comes back it will not burn them. They picked up Veras and with him Rondon, Al Al and Smyly that is a good back end. Dotel being gone for the year has hurt, but the Rondon injury really set them back.

I agree that Porcello is an option definitely in the 7th.

Maybe. Depends on if Jimbo trusts Porcello. Between Rick, Smyly and Benoit the rest of the guys can take a seat.

Nice f-ing work by the staff tonight. Offense working on 8 shutout innings.

 
Benoit striking out the side in the 9th in route to a 4 out save has given me cause to adjust my prediction. A's in 4. The Tigers won't win another game.
