Mccown went 3-2. He didn't run off 8 straight wins or something crazy. The defense is playing poorly, therefore, you need to score touchdowns, which means mistakes are going to happen now and then. Cutler gives them a better chance now and in the long-term. Once the defense is solidified, Cutler can play it a little more safely.KCitons said:That's great. But, if you are Cutler, you need to understand the game. This is not the Bears of old, and you are not Rex Grossman. Your defense is playing poorly and as the QB of the team, you need to minimize mistakes. McCown minimized mistakes which led to winning games.
Right now, there are two people that don't understand this. The head coach and the starting QB.
It wasn't that Culter wasn't playing it safe. Early in the game he wasn't throwing the ball well at all. All the interceptions were bad throws. That has been his pattern at times. He tries to fit balls in to tiny windows. Yesterday, in the first half at least, he was just throwing the ball poorly. His passes were sailing, and he was just missing the target. My biggest concern, long term with Cutler, is his inability to stay healthy. I am just glad the Bears won the game.Mccown went 3-2. He didn't run off 8 straight wins or something crazy. you need a bigger boatIheartGuinness said:The Bears are easily the best team in the NFL. I've been saying all year that they would win it all, and they keep proving me right. Man, that was one hell of a prediction, but it's looking pretty brilliant so far.
I guess we just approach this differently. Both McCown and Cutler have won and lost games. All too often, it appears that Jay's mistakes are the reason for the loss. swirling winds and freezing temps after a month off, let alone playing a tough d. ryno1980 is exactly right. we need to move the ball, cutler does that better. if this was 3 years ago, i'd be all for playing mccown. a strong d and mccown can win the superbowl. a weak d needs a cutler, we need to take risks. mccown did his job to perfection. 3-2 is all you can ask as a backup. we need Jay, and the 2nd half made me excited about our chances should we get to the post-seasonI guess we just approach this differently. But if he wanted a big catch, he should have tossed this bait into a Packer thread...or a Lion thread. Although, I do hope to watch the Lions tonight, and watch them Detroit all over themselves.I like the "easily" part.you need a bigger boatIheartGuinness said:The Bears are easily the best team in the NFL. The good news is that it's "just" his triceps. Shouldn't be lingering.Figured we wouldn't see him back this year even if we did make the playoffs, but the Bears seemed to make it official that Tillman is shut down for the year. He's probably one of my favorite Bears on the roster, and I think it's really too bad we may not see him play another game. Depending on how the injury looks, I think we offer him a contract for next year, but it will likely be a huge paycut from what he was getting this year, so he may be gone.
Who's the tool? Now that Detroit choked away their season, the Bears officially won the division. They're definitely the hottest team in the NFL right now. Seems like you can pencil them in for the Super Bowl.
With Lance BriggsHow the hell are we going to stop McCoy?
Bitter already? And the Lions aren't even cold in the ground yet.Who's the tool? Now that Detroit choked away their season, the Bears officially won the division. They're definitely the hottest team in the NFL right now. Seems like you can pencil them in for the Super Bowl.
If they do that and the Eagles win, they own the tiebreaker, thus the 3 seed. 3/4 seeds still up for grabsSo if the Lions lose next week (and fall to 7-8) and the Packers win (8-6-1), shouldn't the Bears just bench their players since all they have to do is win week 17 and week 16 will not matter right? Am I missing something?
If the Lions and Packers both lose next week, Bears could win the division with the win on Sunday night and hence would play everyone. But what if the above scenario unfolds?
Lol, the Packers, Lions, and Bears can all still win the NFC North, and the Bears & Packers both control their fate.IheartGuinness said:Now that Detroit choked away their season, the Bears officially won the division.
Philly just scored again.
HTHThe Pee Wee Packers D under 105lb team out of Sheboygan is even worse than ours.
Agree partially, but it's not like they lost 53 to 54, Not going to beat a lot of teams putting up 11 points. No way for anyone to keep defending Tucker. No way. He's helpless. The defense quit. Worst in Bears history. How bad do you have to be to get fired after your first season?
You are freaking nuts.Well, just forget about this one and move on to next week. We should be able to beat this Packers team at home, especially if Rodgers does not start. The packers D is even worse than ours.
I'm not talking about losing or scoring points on offense. I'm talking about an embarrassing defense. No excuse for it. I don't care how many injuries. Someone needs to be fired.Agree partially, but it's not like they lost 53 to 54, Not going to beat a lot of teams putting up 11 points. No way for anyone to keep defending Tucker. No way. This one got away early...25 yard punt? Fumble on the kickoff? And suddenly down 21 pts took the entire O out of their normal game plan....oh well, stuff happens in the NFL. Last week this same Eagles team looked like #### on the road giving up 40+ points to the Vikings without ADP. So things change fast from week to week....good thing the Bears play at home. Still like our chances to win next week. The Packers D is as bad or even worse than ours.
Ok crazy guy.
Doesn't matter who they play at running back. Look back over the season. Anyone can run on them. Anyone!yikes. That was bad. Regardless of the injuries we have had on the D, Mel Tucker should not be back next year. Awful.
Hoping Eddie Lacy can't go next week.
They're comparable and saying 'as bad' is not a stretch when talking about overall production.flapgreen said:Sweetness_34 said:This one got away early...25 yard punt? Fumble on the kickoff?
