***Official 2013 NLDS Cardinals v Pirates thread*** (1 Viewer)

Amazing how Liriano looks so shaky in the 5th inning, especially control wise, and then comes back with like a 10 pitch 1-2-3 6th.

Glad they kept him in. I wonder if Barmes didnt get a hit if he gets pulled last inning because he wouldnt have the sac bunt chance.

I doubt it because I think they probably wanted 6 out of him

At least he was missing his spots low.

I thought he made a great pitch on the 2 RBI ground ball. It just found a hole.

I hope they leave him in to start next inning consider itll be the bottom of their lineup but sounds like he's done.

I think it should be Watson, Wilson, Grilli showcasing the bullpen going forward. All the credit in the world to what Melancon did this year but he's been figured out.

I dont care which order it is with Wilson and Watson, but those are clearly our 3 best in the pen.

Pedro getting the lead and Martin finally getting off the porch and delivering. :towelwave:
 Martin got the sac fly to put them up and he hit 2 hrs in an elimination game. I was actually just thinking how clutch he is. I actually was confident he'd come through
Talking more about this series but yeah

Now as someone who is a Nats fans and remembers last year, I still say DON'T GET HAPPY.
Point taken but Martin has been a Godsend for this team (mostly for defensive reasons)

They HAVE to finish it tomorrow (at 2:30 on TBS I believe). Don't let them get back to St. Louis with their best pitcher waiting in Game 5 with no idea who the Pirates Game 5 pitcher would be.

See the problem is Hurdle is loyal to a fault. That's why I have no doubt Burnett will be pitching game 5 if it gets to that. Anyways, great win! I'm gonna enjoy this #### for one night

Cole would pitch Game 5. Hope we don't need a Game 5.

How about these guys? How about that atmosphere at the stadium?

You get Hurdle's word on that? Otherwise, my stomach is still churning.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow. Dream scenario--game gets rained out, Burnett pitches at home in game 4 and Cole in game 5 (if necessary). I'm praying for a rain out tomorrow.
That's no way to be. Your team is good and on the doorstep of booting us out of the playoffs. I'd want to keep that momentum.

It has been raining all night but is supposed to be fine by game time. They are going to play -- hope that Morton brings his A game....

This game scares me. The Cards were hitting the ball well yesterday but not getting too many breaks. Morton is the type of pitcher they will feast on. Also, not sure if the Buccos can hit Wacha. Given the high from yesterday's win, I see a letdown today. I'm going into this game fully expecting a loss (probably a blowout one) but hoping to be pleasantly surprised. If it gets to game 5, anything can happen........

Just to clarify on Cole, I have no scoop, only what the baseball reporters' tweets indicate. But if he doesn't pitch a possible Game 5 after turning in a great game versus the Cards, Hurdle will regret it and be reminded about the decision for, like, ever. Cole hasn't given up more than 2 earned runs in a game since August.

I notice Nolasco is being thrust by LA into Game 4, meaning they are holding out Kershaw for a Game 5 or a Game 1. Smart move on the Dodgers' end.
