Can't wait for Shady to end up in San Diego, Arizona, Minnesota, or somewhere where he's not gimmicked to death.
I know fantasy owners have just buried Shady all year long and saying he's not the same guy, etc, but when you watch the Eagles as a whole, it is clear that they have simply become what they were when they had Reid all over again: Victims of a system that refuses to lean on their actual talent.
THey simply let their charts and their grand brain trusts in their schemes dictate what they are going to do instead of having an actual feel for the game.
Love them or hate them, at least you can appreciate a team like, say, the Bengals, who take a guy like Hue Jackson and say "I am going to go with Hill and use the talent. Idon't have to be cute. I don't have to be gimmicky. I can get an actual feel for a game and if it's right, I am going to run this ball down the opponent's throat. Especially when I know my QB is a liability"
Where in the world do you come up with all of this?
Were you crying about Shady's use last year?
And Kelly is a million times better at making adjustments than Reid.
This commentary is way off-base.
I'm not an Eagles fan nor an Eagles hater so I'm seeing it without any biases.
I'm not enough of an expert to put it on a presentation for anyone and talk about the 30% difference in how they are now running less 3-wide set or anything but I can tell you it doesn't pass the eyeball test this year.
Last year, they used their playmakers to perfection. This year, they don't. People talk about VOLUME for Shady but ignore the actual game flow. They keep forcing Sproles in and McCoy out in scenarios where Shady should be allowed to be a star. They have completely failed at developing Ertz to the next level despite anyone with a football interest being able to clearly tell you that he is the ideal TE for the type of difference-making TEs in today's game. They put the game in Sanchez's hands over Shady OR Sproles far too often, despite Sanchez missing passes everywhere.
They ignore Matthews. The like Cooper.
It's just as obvious as they day is long: They are calling and running plays with complete and total disregard for the personnel they have. They act like their calls are good enough to make anyone succeed and they are wrong. They ignore the feel and flow of the game such as continuing to run this tempo when they are down 14-0 and putting their defense in a lurch.
I won't argue it past this point: Mine is just one opinion and I don't have enough fandom for the Eagles nor investment in Eagles fantasy players to care. I'm just saying what I see and to me it is obvious and the wins (losses) and the fantasy production (and lack thereof) support it.
This team has a lot of talented players but Sanchez isn't the top of this list. There are teams out there that win games with far less talent. Philly seems reluctant to recognize theirs because I know there are teams out there that could put some of these guys to much better use (Philly has in the past. Why not continue with what works?).
