Held this year at Royal Liverpool near Hoylake.

Tiger says he's healthy.

He will play the first two rounds with Henrik Stenson and Angel Cabrera.

Justin Rose is coming off a Scottish Open victory.

Rory McIlroy is coming off a Scottish Open where he shot 64 Thursday and missed the cut by shooting 78 on Friday.

Weather conditions are expected to start warm and dry with an increased chance of rain on the weekend.

Rory mcIlroy on course conditions

EXPERT VIEWRory McIlroy’s verdict: “It’s very green and very lush at the minute. The ball isn’t really running that much on the fairways and they were stopping quickly on the greens. So it will be a lot different from the course Tiger played in ’06. I’m sure – weather permitting over the next 10 days – it will be a bit firmer and faster [by the start].

“The rough is up. You need to avoid that. Generally though, Hoylake is a very ‘scoreable’ course. All four of the par fives are reachable in two shots. So we’ll see guys quite a bit under par in decent weather.”

And Congressional. I would call him the favorite by a wide margin. Tiger's surely still a ways off, probably realistically looking to peak for the PGA. Rory seems to be a bit out of pocket at the moment. Very streaky.

Yep, I'd agree that Rose is a favorite. I like Stenson's chances too and Scott and Kaymer have been so good this year.

Good place to pimp the ESPN Best Ball game, one of ESPN's fantasy games.

You get a salary to pick 4 players, their cost is determined by world ranking or something.

Have done this the last few years for all the majors, very fun.

What a great group to play with Tiger.

Players are lighting it up right now, as Rory predicted. The weather better change.

Watching Tiger...his swing looks as loose as it has in years.

Stenson just putted off the green.

I've hit that shot many times but I don't expect to see that on the PGA.

There's supposed to be a front coming thru Friday night / Saturday morning with potential for heavy downpours. Of course, if it moves thru, it could just make the greens more receptive.

Tomorrow, wind is supposed to pick up some (15 - 18 mph?)in advance of the front.

There's a problem with the German machine as Kaymer doubles the Par 5 5th and bogeys the 7th.
This course is too vulnerable to fit his game ideally...although he's not playing great either.

Same with Rose...does he ever win on easier courses?

Bryden Macpherson shot a 90 today which included being +12 on the first 5 holes on the back 9. He was able to par the rest of the back 9 to salvage a 49.

My dark horse pick Mikko Ilonen has started out bogey bogey bogey. -2 yesterday and now sits at +1. Oooff.

+13 from Mickelson, Watson, and Els.
On the other hand, McIlroy, Speith, and Matsuyama are a combined -10.

Quietly this young generation is looking pretty impressive at the top. Lump Bubba in (at 35 on the high end)...you 3 multi-major winners with Rory and Kaymer, single winners like Rose and Scott, and guys like Speith and Day who have already been close.

He wins the most improved award, shooting an 80 in round 2, shaving 10 strokes off his game.

Pretty much describes my round last weekend.

23 year old destined for life as a journeyman. Which, come to think of it, probably isn't such a bad gig after all.

This weather played right into the late guys hands...Rory may build a beefy lead.

Tomorrow could be brutal though...which could be our only chance for an interesting tourney.

Dustin Johnson is another late tee time taking advantage with a 32 on the front.

He's saving the tourney. Minus Tiger, I can't think of a better head-to-head battle than those 2.

My biggest gripe with the Open Championship is that the weather can literally make the course play two very different ways and it gives big advantages to one set of players.
