I didn't realize that I was a WVU blogger since you continue to use "you guys." See, in the non-conference honk world, we don't refer to everyone that covers or is a fan of any single team in the entire conference "you guys." I know that's tough to understand for a dim bulb such as yourself.Also, nobody said $30 million per team. Somewhere in the low $20s was mentioned. I realized you're detached from reality, but you're off by a factor of 50%.

2. Oklahoma should have dropped. They simply did not look good at all in any facet and struggled to be a team they should have run off the field.

3. West Virginia is underrated. I think that team is one to be reckoned with this season. I think Texas, in particular, is in for a rude awakening on Oct 6th. They seem to handle the Cowboys pretty well and WVU is their trap game before the OU game.

4. Texas is overrated. They will get exposed for what they are in their typical October fashion. They ramble through a bunch of no-names in September and to their fans' surprise each October get run out of the building by someone (this year it'll be WVU and/or OU).

5. Michigan is ranked properly now.

6. Funny enough, after the little noticed victory over the University of Houston, Texas State University garnered some AP attention after their first D1 game ever. The rankings of the D1 Texas schools currently sit at the following in the AP poll:

1. Texas (17th)

2. TCU (20th)

3. Baylor (30th)

3. Texas State (34th)

5. Texas A&M (37th)

4. Texas Tech, UH, SMU, UTEP (unranked)

They never should have been there to begin with. I don't think they are as bad as they looked in El Paso. But they sure aren't a Top 5 team this year. If they lose fewer than 3 games they'll be lucky.

To me, the leapfrog points out how ridiculous the whole idea of a preseason poll is. IMO, they shouldn't put out a poll until after Week 4, when you're pretty much guaranteed that every team has played at least one conference game.

I agree with this statement. Bama looked very good against a poor passing team. Bama's secondary is very suspect. LSU will throw all over them and so will Arkansas. I think Bama loses to Ark and LSU and possibly Tenn. That Sunseri guy is a liability in coverage.

I love college football, so much that I have learned to gloss over the petty conference vs. conference BS. It's created by the system, glorified by the media, and turns fans into idiots. Sometimes ignoring the idiots is the best solution.

I wouldn't be shocked if they did, but I don't think they'll "have no problem" putting up 40+. I could see a 30-10 type win for LSU.

While at TENN Wilcox put 8 in the box and dared LSU to throw the ball. Les being Les refused to stop running the ball. Now it was probably out of necessity since J. Lee was QB. By the 2nd half the TENN defense was gassed. Don't think Washington's front 7 is good enough not to put 8 in the box. Miles will either open up the passing offense up or be hell bent on running the ball. What he decides will say a lot in if he thinks Zach is ready to lead LSU in times where they have to rely on the passing game (Bama).

I agree.I am the rare SEC fan who loves it when conference foes get beat. I have some fellow SEC fans that get mad at me and say that it's bad for the SEC, but who cares. Seeing Auburn try to setup their own out of conference showdown in the Georgia Dome, (only to get upstaged by Bama-Michigan in Dallas) and then to lose that game was priceless.

I never said that it wouldn't happen (in fact, I said I wouldn't be shocked if it did), but I don't think they "will have no problem" putting up 40+. A projected score of 42 doesn't seem like an automatic 40+ to me, but I admit that we may have different definitions of "no problem."I watched UW against San Diego St. (my guess is most fans of SEC schools did not). Christo - I thought FSU/Clemson would come and that it would be about $20m per team + the extra payout from the CCG. I still suspect that the Big 12 may have bungled that waiting for ND and/or trying to weasel out of the Louisville commitment.

Nobody said $30m and I'm pretty sure studies at the time showed that the additional travel costs would be less than any additional payout.

What we really need is for someone to quit creating false backstories and just let it go.

Yes, $20M is about what was expected. The "bloggers" everyone was quoting all along was saying $25M or $30M a year and that FSU/Clemson would take the extra $10M/year. It's only $3M/year per school which isn't going to cause anyone to look because they would lose that $3M easily in travel costs for the entire athletic department.

I just hate to break it to you but you are arguing against the wind here. I'm not aware of anyone here who threw around the $30MM figure and said FSU or Clemson would come running. As a matter of fact, I'm on record saying I would like the Big 12 to add Louisville and Cincinnati to get back to 12.
