Good Lord. I'd love to see a Venn Diagram with those who would see Star Wars on NYE and those who would watch a CFP game. That overlap wouldn't be detectable to the human eye.

Cmon. Im as poor a loser as it gets but still watched last year. I freakin went to Auburn-FSU after the Kick 6. It's the last game for 7 months.

Watching the Cotton Bowl again...not a good game from Dantonio. Gave up on the run really early, and committed to stopping the Alabama run til the passing game buried him. Good coaching to get them there but out-matched in the end. Dabo, Venebles, and the UC OCs are ready I think?

I think we'll employ a similar strategy on defense to what we did with OU honestly. Play the run and trust the back 4 on early downs, bring pressure early and often on passing downs. It stopped Perine/Mixon/Mayfield, other than two early plays it shut down FSU, and honestly it did pretty well against UNC too until late in the game and the team played tired. On offense it depends what Bama is giving us. Elliot this week has talked about trying to do too much in his play calling since he had a month to prepare for OU, then getting cute in the first half and costing us points. Generally speaking, his strength this year has figuring out what's working early and then abusing it until they change. If you watch the orange bowl, we essentially ran two plays the entire second half (one a lead draw with Watson, the other a read option primarily giving to Gallman) and we just crushed them. There was no need to get cute because we were ripping 7-8 yards off every play.

Once we made the playoff, I'm just taking it in stride and proud of the team no matter what. It'd be realllly nice though to pull this one off, though.Good for you!Enjoy the moment!

OU was doing a pretty good job moving the ball and trading blows until the two bold guys got hurt in the 3rd quarter.

I mean not really. Mixon had 3 carries for 4 yards and Perine had 15 for 58 and that was after his first run of the game going for 17. We gave up one big play to Perine on the first drive and then they combine for 44 yards on 17 other carries.Mayfield had to put it up 41 times to just reach 300 yards.

I'm not saying we straight dominated them and completely shut them down, but nobody was predicting 17 points either. If we do the same to Bama, I feel we have a better than 50/50 chance at pulling this thing off.

Not disagreeing with you, but I don't really understand it. One team is Bama and the other team is an undefeated school with an exciting offense led by the best QB in the country. Personally I'm stoked for the game.
They were dominated and shut down in the 2nd half once they became one-dimensional. But the first half was a different story with Perine at 4.7 YPC and Mayfield with 9.8 YPA as well as 17 points. Need to start better on Monday, that was the point.

Putting pressure on Coker will be important, and stopping the run. One of the things I love about Kiffin is that he will not try to force anything. The Clemson DL is good and Alabama OL is playing it's best...should be a good matchup.
We'll focus on forcing you to throw I'm sure. We did that to MSU with 4 DL. Doubt that happens here, but I don't think you've been forced to throw all year. We tackle well also, so the quick short passes I don't think will consistently move the ball. Gonna have to throw it downfield to some degree with the run-pass option of the normal route.

The one thing Clemson did the whole game against OU was keep Mayfield in the pocket. He's a good runner but a great improviser outside the pocket. Had they not done that OU would have been able to move more than they did.
Clemson can't just settle for FGs vs Bama either, so redzone efficiency will be huge.

Why would they throw away all those "casuals"? They want to "own" a day? Some days aren't for sale

Last summer he did a "tour" of all these high schools in the south where he was a "guest speaker" or some such to get around NCAA rules. He worked with a ton of different kids and got a couple signees out of the deal. College coaches in those areas didn't like it. I don't like making score predictions because one stupid bounce here or there can make things look lopsided quickly. That said, I'd be shocked if this isn't a good game. I think Clemson can keep Bama to a relatively manageable score, so it'll be on Watson and Gallman to put up the points.
A few things...
Watson and the offense tend to be slow starters. We definitely seem to do better in the second halves of games, so if we can get to half within a score, I'm liking our chances. We are a very well conditioned team, so let's just get to half 2 in range and I suspect Dabo will have no trouble taking chances if need be.
Our special teams are decent overall, but pretty poor in kickoff coverage and kick returns. Heugel needs to get the ball out of the endzone for me to feel safe. On the returns, I can pretty much guarantee we won't be past the 30 for starting field position all night. It makes for a long field, but maybe we'll get lucky and break one and flip the field.
Shaq is going to play - how much and how effective are the keys. I trust our secondary for the most part, I'm more worried about Boulware and Goodson reading pulling guards and stuff like that on run plays. They tend to get sucked in and swallowed up on plays.

Clemson maybe doesn't have to play a perfect game, but they damn sure have to limit the turnovers. They are suitably built to be able to move the ball some on Bama, but if they give up a few short fields it'll be over quick.
I don't think much of Bama's offense at all. If they are forced to go 70 yards all game it'll be tough for them to win. But I imagine their D forces 2-3 turnovers.
