Official 2015 Cowboys Thread- 4-12. We won the 4th pick! (2 Viewers)

Par for the course. Guy can't be trusted. He's a flake, but at least he's our flake. I'll take him cause he's pretty good and cheaper since he can't keep his nose clean.

Good news. While I'm glad we moved on from that whole "give everyone a contract" phase that we had a few years ago, we shouldn't journey into Patriots territory and treat every player as if he's replaceable either. Dez needs to be retained without question. He has a good 5 elite years left him and will live up to whatever insane contract we give him. Franchise QB, an elite WR, O-Line and Pass Rushers need to be our contractual priorities.

Everyone else is replaceable.

The whole superagent concept needs to be re-analyzed.

He is creating the market value then complaining each team talked?

The salary and contract become public. Obviously he spoke to Denver about Demaryius. Then you've gotta figure he said to Dallas, my other top wideout got XYZ from Denver and that Dallas was watching the news to see what he was paid.

If he's upset with Demaryius' deal and feels it's too low...guess who is at fault there?

The concept of the two teams controlling the market insinuates there wasn't a third party(the agent) involved in negotiations and that the teams can just state a salary demand and he takes it.

This study is based on revenue. Even for something as subjective as 'best' fans that is a strange metric to use.
What would you use as criteria? I think its a better metric than somebody who says they are a fan of team X and never spend a dollar toward that team (put your money where your mouth is, so to speak). All teams for most part sellout capacity so that doesn't seem like a valid metric. For the record I'm not hanging my hat on this study, means nothing.

It sounds like the study is basically taking dollar spent per capita for the size of the metropolitan area they are in. Dallas has the biggest stadium so they can generate the most revenue per game (other teams could sell as many tickets as the Cowboys do but are limited by the size of their stadium). This study also doesn't factor in how much of the revenue being generated is from opposing teams fans buying tickets. In Jerryworld, this is significant since there are so many seats available. It is evident that this is happening by the amount of fans cheering for the opposing team in the last several years. Using dollars generated as one metric for determining the best fans is one thing. Using it as the sole basis for which team has the best fans is crazy. Maybe if you were trying to determine who had the best owner for making money.

Personally, I rely on the "eyeball" metric which basically goes something like "wherever I go, what teams do I see represented most by PEOPLE, talking about their team, wearing the team colors, etc. In my opinion, it is probably the Pittsburgh Steelers. In my travels across the United States and Europe, the only US sports teams I have ever seen more represented are the Chicago Bulls and the Kentucky Wildcats College Basketball team.

I agree re Pittsburgh. Packers fans and Giants fans too. You do some realization that there's zillions of people in NYC and you saw jerseys all day on a Sunday and it'll hit ya. The thing I find fascinating about these three fan bases is they are the only ones that have elderly men active on message boards. It's nowhere near as many as back in the newsgroup days, but it is still great to read some 75 year old man discuss the Pack when he was younger.

I think it's very possible that the fans of America's team are not even essentially the team they love most. Many of the Cowboys fans I know go rivalry type big game crazy passionate for HS football or college football and are way more laid back for Cowboys games til playoff time comes around or at least til Turkey day. There seems to be a shift in their focus. If you pinned them down and had them pick a favorite team between HS, college, and Cowboys, I'm not sure they'd pick the Cowboys.

I was never impressed with our fan base to be honest. Our stadium crowd noise was never imposing to opponents. The random Cowboys fans I bump into never impress me with their football knowledge. The suddenly quiet anti-Romo camp comes to mind.

I also vividly remember a bus driver who was convinced a washed up Eddie George would rush 1500+ yards when we signed him.

Chances Brady is on the field week 5 against the Cowboys?
I could see the suspension being overturned by the courts or the NFL settling to reduce it to two games. Either way, Brady would play against the Cowboys week 5.

My only hesitation is that Goodell is a lawyer and I have a hard time seeing him maintaining the 4 game suspension if he thought it would be thrown out in court. So of course there is some chance that Brady doesn't play.

I don't know!! What do I look like, a lawyer?!! :)
