***OFFICIAL*** 2015 Denver Broncos (1 Viewer)

It's simple now: win and out and the Broncos get the 1 seed.

Will be easier said than done, obviously. That game at Pittsburgh will be really tough, as well the home game vs the Bengals. Can't lose both or they risk being the 3 seed and facing a dangerous 6 seed in the 1st round. And the divisional home games against Oakland and SD will be no pushovers either.

One thing is certain: Vernon Davis' value to the running game was more than obvious today. Once he left with a concussion, they struggled to run it. And Osweiler needs that running game to do well.

good call on VD's impact to the running offense.

While I am encouraged by the defense getting back to it's dominant form, I'm cautiously nervous about what our offense has degraded to. The Bronco O was only able to hang 10 points against the 29th ranked scoring defense, even with their starting CB being out most of the game. I understand Kubiak's strategy - when you have a good lead, take the air out of the ball, limit turnovers and allow your defense to be dominant - I get that, but I feel like the O left some points on the board - I guess they did in the missed FG and the interception in the EZ.

I suppose at the end of the day, there were only 2 drives that were 3-and-out. One was hampered by a pass interference on 3rd down and the other was three straight incompletions.

It's good to get the W, but I feel underwhelmed for some reason.

agreed

If the Broncos can't beat the raiders at home, they have no business contending for a high playoff seed. It really sucks to see such a great defense go to waste due to a terrible OL.

Schofield was terrible today, Kubes was pretty bad in that there was no scheming around Mack.

This was a terribly played game offensively, but its not on Brock, IMO.

Plenty of blame to go around on offense, for sure, but I, for one, am getting really sick of Demaryius dropping balls he should catch in his sleep. Considering the money they gave him, he needs to be more money than he has been this season.

This frustrates the hell outta me. He seems out of it, some games.

Okay, it's not just me, then. I am sure we could point to his receptions total, which is still high, and it's possible that his official drops total isn't that high, but it just seems like he drops catchable balls at just the wrong times this year. That drop on 3rd down in the 4th quarter last week was bad, although it got overshadowed a bit later by an even worse drop by Vernon Davis on the 4th down play.

With 2 weeks to go in the regular season, the playoff race is so tight that Denver could finish as high as #1 or as low as #7 (missing the playoffs altogether).

The outcome of Monday night's game could make the difference between a #2 seed or a #6 seed.

Two games left, both at home, one against a Bengals team with their backup QB, and another against a 4-11 Chargers team. The 2 seed and first round bye is just dangling there for the taking.

I'm not an especially knowledgable fan but it appears to me that Kubiak is in way over his head. If they have enough talent to win in the first halves why don't they have enough talent to keep pace in the second halves?

I think that's a little unfair. They had great second halves against KC (first game), Indy (despite losing), New England and Green Bay.

Last week was troubling, though. It was a like a completely different offense in the second half than what we saw in the first. I get that some weeks the other coach is going to make better half time adjustments than you, but how do you go from scoring four touchdowns in a half to struggling to even get a first down?

I'm so irritated at the Broncos right now that I had to stop posting and discussing it with friends. If I'm going to fall in this pit of fire, I'm going to do it like a man - quietly with no violins playing.

And yes, I'm expecting the fiery pit.

Brock is set to start rest of the year. Hopefully it puts the conversation to rest.

Elway has to find some way of keeping the defense in place (Wolf, Jackson, Marshall and Von need to be kept) and somehow get an offensive line because right now we don't have one. I am a bit shocked that Mathis has been benched by Garcia. PFF grades be damned.

For a minor dose of perspective, if Denver wins this weekend, they will have as many 12-win seasons in the last four years as the Jets, Cardinals, Lions, and Buccaneers have in their combined 278 years of history.

Well, I'm not sure what to make of today's game. It's great that we got there, and its even better that we have the #1 seed. This team is so much better at home, we would have no chance in New England (or Houston, for that matter).

I was quite a bit apprehensive when Manning trotted in. If you have 2 QB's, you don't have any QB's. There can be no QB controversy at this point in the season. Obviously, the team responded when Manning came in, and he really beings a lot to me he table.

So, its gotta be Manning in the playoffs. He was healthy enough to play today, after 2 weeks he should be good to go.

So what happens in 2016? I think it's still Brock, and I think his 2016 salary took a major dip, thru no fault of his own.

I dunno though...40 yr old Manning @ $15m for one more year vs Brock @ $10m?

Anyways, one thing I saw today is Manning looked more comfortable from under center...that's fantastic.

Anyways the D is still great - amazing to hold the Chargers to 20 points, despite 5 turnovers from the O.

Bring on the post-season!

When was the last time a #1 seed had a quarterback controversy? I was going to suggest maybe the '87 Redskins or the '00 Ravens, but neither was a #1 seed.

I'm wondering if the benching will affect Brock wanting to stay in Denver - if a contract offer is even or close. I think it takes more than 10M BTW to keep him.Nick Foles makes 12.

I don't think there will be a problem as long as Manning has retired . If manning wants to hang around; then he may seek greener pastures

There is no QB controversy. Osweiler is still #1 and gives the Broncos the best chance to win. Nice to have Manning as the backup in case Osweiler struggles and the team needs a spark.
There absolutely is a QB controversy.

In your mind, perhaps. Not in the minds of Kubiak or reasonable Broncos fans. Manning was 5 of 9 for 69 yards and no touchdowns. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. Osweiler was actually better. Broncos would still have won today if Kubiak had left Osweiler in the game.
Lol @ reasonable Bronco fans. Not sure that exists.

Broncos sign Wolfe to a four year extension for $36.75mil...some might say this is a bit much but he is only 25 so I have no problem with it.

I love it. Versatile defensive linemen who can wreak havoc in the run and pass game in a 3-4 scheme don't grow on trees. I think we saw Wolfe just start to scratch the surface of his potential this season. He reminds me of JJ Watt-lite. Now I figure they unload Peyton's, Ware's and Clady's huge cap numbers and lock up first Von and then Malik and still have some money to invest in offensive line help. Not sure when Marshall's and Trevathan's deals are up but I have to figure Marshall at least is going to be a priority as well. Great move.

Trev is a UFA this offseason and Marshall is an affordable RFA this offseason who will be a UFA next offseason iirc

Yeah, I highly doubt Trev is back with Todd Davis more than capable taking his spot and for a lot cheaper.
Agreed. Someone is going to pay a lot for Trevathan and I don't think that someone will be Denver. Both Malik and Marshall are higher priorities. I love Trevathan, don't get me wrong, but you can't keep everyone unfortunately.

Let's see if Peyton can get the cold weather monkey off his back against the decimated steelers squad:

"Cold-weather playoff games have not been kind to Manning in his Hall of Fame career. Whether the reason is more opponent-based than a climate concern, the fact remains in playoff games when the kickoff temperature has been 40 degrees or colder, Manning's teams are 0-5.

A variety of forecasts, including AccuWeather's, predict the temperatures to be between 35 and 38 degrees for the 2:40 p.m. MT kickoff and dropping slightly as the game progresses."

While all true, the fact of the matter is that Manning played most of his career in a dome. When he had playoff games below 40, that's mostly road playoff games, and most likely in New England.

There was the one Baltimore game in Denver a few years ago in cold weather... it can be debated that he played well enough to win that one.

The sun is shinning bright this morning here in Denver. 38 degrees and sun shinning actually isn't that bad. I don't think the weather or temperature will be a problem,

He beat San Diego when it was 41 at game start - 38 vs 41 in sunshine in Denver is nothing - both are warm and perfect game weather.

The Broncos have home field advantage and a great defense.

New England has Tom Brady and all of his offensive weapons back.

Ultimately I think NE wins because Belichick out gameplans Gary and Wade. Wade's defense's tend to fail in the playoffs because he is very predictable and tends not to gameplan for specific teams.

Well, here we are. I just feel thankful to have grown up with this franchise as "my" team. I've drank too much, and will stop typing now. I'm just happy as hell, and love the Broncos.

Gonna be an...odd couple of weeks for me. I just started a new job outside of Charlotte. I will be introduced to the company on Friday (would have been last Friday if not for the ice/snow). It's gonna be, "WTF? Who hired the Bronco guy?"

I can't wait though. After seeing what our D did today, and remembering last time we played Carolina, I think we match up quite well.

IMO it also will helpanning tremendously to get a week of rest.I had my doubts he could string two games together, but so far, so good.

He was definitely more playmaker than game manager today, BTW.

I have to say I loved seeing Wolfe already paying big dividends today after receiving his extension. The more I watch him the more I'm convinced that we got an absolute steal. What worries me is if we gave Wolfe 9 million a year, what is it going to take to lock Von down? I'm guessing it will be similar to the contract Justin Houston signed last season, so probably 5 or 6 years in the $15-$18 million/year range, at least $50 million guaranteed.

While Tom had all his receiving weapons back, NE was still without a run game and had an Oline with too many replacement players. Denver was able to put too much pressure on Brady, which prevented them from moving the ball consistently.

I made a prediction, and I was wrong. Congrats to the Denver fans for your team's great season. Denver has a great defense and they will need it to try to find a way to stop a very balanced Carolina offense with the ever hard to defend Cam Newton. I think it should be a great game no matter who wins.

Time to pay Von and Malik. Defense should be almost the same next season, perhaps minus Trevathan and Ware. But Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett are waiting in the wings to take up Ware's mantle. Offense has nowhere to go but up.

literally nowhere but up :)

what a great season. I honestly didn't think it was possible when the season started.

Yeah that's what made it so special. Such a perfectly flawed team that scratched and clawed and quite literally willed its way to Super Bowl L Champions. I'm optimistic for this team's future but really just want to savor this one for awhile. We're unlikely to ever see a team or season like this again. Denver may very well win more championships but I can't imagine that one will ever feel this sweet again.
