Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

Trump is right on eminent domain, the crowd can boo if they want. It's idiocy to think otherwise.
Agreed. And normally they overpay because let's face it, the government overpays for everything. It costs me almost $100 to get a roll of duct tape
I own some mountainside property alongside one of the busiest highways in our area. I bought it to wait and am just praying for them to need to widen that thing out and declare eminent domain.

No. People should not have their property taken by the government for private profit. Screw that.
Do you drive to work every day? If you do, you're using eminent domain property.
No kidding. That's a public use, not a casino or a mall.
So is your line at buildings and not roads? What about schools? Infrastructure such as a pipeline, railway? Keep in mind, rail also involves for profit uses but is a necessity.

I like that Kasich guy. He's got experience at more levels than any candidate. Why isn't he higher in the polls.
As he recently said he should be in the Democratic primary
It says a lot if that's really the case.. It's like the right has become to demand some sort of purity like one would of a Middle Eastern bride.
I disagree

He's a big government guy. The problem with this country isn't that it's mismanaged. Which is his argument.

The Republican base sees the problem as the govt is to big.

Rubio has his talking points ready anytime Obama's name is mentioned. So out of context too. Coming off bad.

You would think that it would be hard to miss the black guy on a,stage with a,bunch of whites and Latinos...

My line is the situation in the Kelo case and what Trump pulled in AC. Here in NO after Katrina the government absorbed a score square blocks and drove out renters, home owners, people who had rebuilt. 150 year old neighborhood. When you see the guts torn out the middle of your town so some politically connected individuals can make a load of money please let me know how that is.eta - I'm all for infrastructure but eminent domain is not the same thing, though it can be used for that. I don't have a problem with the road situation you mentioned further up, that's fine.

In what way is Kasich a big government guy?

My point is, eminent domain is necessary. In the case you mentioned that's a local government issue. Not surprising in NO.
