Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (4 Viewers)

Krauthammer the crypt keeper on Kelly File right now is saying Hillary HARDLY came up during the debate and that Christie, Huckabee, and Cruz improved their chances. Did he sleep through this thing???

EDIT: Didn't know he was paralyzed, so I probably shouldn't make fun of his appearance. Still think he slept through this if he didn't hear the 109 Clinton references.

FreeRepublic has it:

1. Cruz

2. Trump

Bush is last.
Honestly Trump made a travesty of the whole thing, it was impossible to follow, I couldn't keep track of who was doing well. But I liked Rubio and as a person Carson comes across as extremely decent, but I'm not sure either of them are ready to be president. Fiorina obviously was great in Debate I. After that I'm just :oldunsure: to  that any of these guys should be president. I thought the Christie-Paul debate was fun and though I am no fan Christie crushed Paul IMO and we've seen him do that before. Bush was just mush.

The big loser here is Bush... not Trump.... Bush was number 2 and did absolutely NOTHING to distinguish himself
I don't know if that's true, at least for me. I had no interest in him before the debate but he did make some good points. Not enough to get my vote but I feel less negative about him.

It's like the first round of the fantasy draft. You can't win it now but you can lose it. Paul made major missteps tonight. Really bad night. He and Christie did themselves no favors by mixing it up like that. Christie lost his cool there. Mistake. They may have both taken themselves out. It was like Butterbean vs. Glass Joe there for a minute.

I saw him as effectively "the real" frontrunner, trump aside, and I thought he had a slightly better than Rick Perry performance. A lot more 41 than 43 as a personality

They did railroad Trump with those loaded questions. Seemed like every question they asked him focused on something he did or said in the past that would embarrass him when they brought it up. A couple others were asked one tough question about their record but every question Trump got asked was meant to put him on the defensive. I almost felt bad for him.
Going to be interesting to see how Donalds ego takes this. He may just jump to the third party now.

He's a frontrunner in name only. He's going to have to earn it and I think he did ok tonight.

Absolutely, he feels outcast, treated unfairly, and he can't control the message in these debates. GOP in 2016 is dead if he does this, even 5% kills them.

really can't believe the meat of this debate... how are abortion and gay marriage/trans talk taking up ten percent of the discussion while there is one question on race

I want to see a single photo of Christie hugging a family after 9/11.... these guys call that a good comeback to Paul SMASHING Christie on Hugging Obama, which on the merits is a stupid point but one that he has to live with.

The focus group favorites are Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee
And there is what is wrong with the country in one fell swoop.
That focus group looks a little flawed to me. Not sure it is representative of the whole Republican Party. Also there's always a group dynamic aspect to those things. A couple of loud guys in the middle start ranting about how great Cruz was and the others seem to fall in line. I don't put much stock in it.What those things are good for is the meter thing, and pointing out the sound bytes that resonated most.

Huckabee, from what I saw, gave great answers and is an evangelist of epic proportions.

Underestimate him in debates at your own risk, really.
I have a better chance at being president, sorry.

I mean....I'd be pretty great and all. Legalizing prostitution and weed would be my first executive order.

The moderators were straight up laughing at him.
Great. Laugh at him with the rest of the country when he places in Iowa. I'm not talking about who I like; I'm talking about the debate as a spectacle.

Where can I send my donation?

Clearly intentional. If you notice, the one question on race was directed to Carson who they knew would diffuse the issue so they could move on to the God topic.

This is true.

I don't like Huck. I'm a Paul guy. You can't get much different. Economic and social liberalism vs. economic and social populism. But in the format tonight, Huck was excellent.

I'll stop railing about it. It's not a big deal, all things considered. He'll likely never win.
