Why?Walker/Rubio is still the best ticket for the GOP. Lots of time for that to change
He is generally acceptable to the crazies and the relatively sane Republicans. Very few of the 17 candidates can bridge that gap.Why?Walker/Rubio is still the best ticket for the GOP. Lots of time for that to change
Im still trying to figure out if anyone can really give a reason why Walker would be a good candidate.
So far...being a winner and having a down to earth vibe are his best qualities.
Not saying I like him. Just saying he's their best chance right nowWhy?Walker/Rubio is still the best ticket for the GOP. Lots of time for that to change

Qualifications...why you think he may be a good president...things like that.
Its telling to me that I have asked this question multiple times...and have almost zero answers that would come close to qualifying someone to be president.
This may be the ticket but I think it needs to be reversed, because I don't believe Walker can win Florida. Rubio might.Walker/Rubio is still the best ticket for the GOP. Lots of time for that to change
I agree. I like it much better that way. This may be the ticket but I think it needs to be reversed, because I don't believe Walker can win Florida. Rubio might.Walker/Rubio is still the best ticket for the GOP. Lots of time for that to change
Conservatives masses already think we have government run healthcare. They'd flip on a dime on the issue. Think the polls already suggest they like everything in the ACA.The practical result of this would be a definite 3rd party run by a winger of some sort. The GOP should run on single-payer health insurance. Trump for it in the past.
The democrats will never get that through anytime soon. Decades.
GOP should relent on that issue but get the executive branch and perhaps both houses. Do what they may.
Basically vote Republican and get single-payer or vote Dem and nothing happens.
Conservatives are not going to the other side. You won't lose them. Think enough of a % of liberals would take that deal.

It seems like you're going to eliminate reasons he's a good candidate one way or the other. So you don't like him - that doesn't discount the reasoning of others who do.

This. Until they can get some sanity I dont see a GOP candidate winning the presidency. Republicans better start realizing this or the party could go bye bye.Sanity.What issues would you like to see them emphasize? This GOP is very very close to losing me as a voter.
Several perfectly good and valid reasons have already been given. Again, the problem with posts like this is that "sanity" basically means "whatever I believe in". And when it comes from liberals it's even more laughable because of the obvious bias.This. That's a completely incorrect assumption.Jeb Bush made an honest, realistic comment last night which may come back to bite him: although he disapproves of the Iran deal, he said that if elected he wouldn't get rid of it right away; he'd have to consider all options, discuss it with our allies, etc.
This is an entirely reasonable comment but it's not at all what Republicans want to hear and it makes him sound weak and tepid. Watch the other candidates gang up on him, especially during the upcoming debates, over this response.
The almost unanimous reaction to the Iran deal, among Republicans, is that they hate it. You don't think they want candidates who promise to get rid of it ASAP?That's a completely incorrect assumption.Jeb Bush made an honest, realistic comment last night which may come back to bite him: although he disapproves of the Iran deal, he said that if elected he wouldn't get rid of it right away; he'd have to consider all options, discuss it with our allies, etc.

Tim, you do realize that even those who support the deal believe by a slight majority that the Iranians won't comply with it, right? The almost unanimous reaction to the Iran deal, among Republicans, is that they hate it. Of course they hate it because Obama basically gave them the house. However, I don't think this is high on anyone's list of issues for not voting for a candidate. The almost unanimous reaction to the Iran deal, among Republicans, is that they hate it. 28% of goppers support it, 38% of Indies support it, 39% of Demos oppose it or are not sure about it.
https://today.yougov.com/news/2015/07/17/americans-tend-favor-iran-deal-they-doubt-it-will-/
55% of Demos think Iran is a threat to the US. 61% of Demos are either not confident or not sure that the deal with prevent Iran from gaining nukes.

Even people in the administration are saying they just hope the deal will halt the Iranians from gaining nukes, and the president himself just said he "believes" the Iranians will comply. I'm overall in favor of the deal but it's got serious flaws.
I think it will be a central issue discussed in the first few debates, and that Bush's statement will be used as an opening for more conservative candidates to attack him. That's my prediction; we'll see.Of course they hate it because Obama basically gave them the house. Agreed. Pretty much everyone believes that Iran can't be trusted any further than they can be thrown, so this is hardly a make-or-break issue.Of course they hate it because Obama basically gave them the house. False...He supports what his handlers tell him to support. He wanted to get rid of the open records in this last budget, soon as people found out about it, he threw his senators under the bus and said he knew nothing about it. Whenever he gets called out on something he backtracks or said he didn't know about it, definitely doesn't stand up and take ownership for what "he believed in".I haven't studied Walker much, but I'd suggest that on at least one occasion in the past, he wasn't afraid to do what he believed was right for his constituency, despite the fact that it was unpopular. In my opinion, that's an important quality in an executive.
I was addressing your premise about "almost unanimous reaction." McCain, of course, was the Republican nominee for president in 2008.
In 1973, John McCain wrote a first-person account of being shot down over Vietnam and held in prison for over five years. You can read it here. Trump graduated from college in 1968, but avoided serving in Vietnam.
That was incredible.Wowowowow.

Trump has graduated from demagogue narcissist to a33h0le.
I shouldn't say I'm surprised that he said something that would totally destroy his numbers, but I am.That was incredible.Wowowowow.

Yeah but it does do 2 things:WILL it destroy his numbers? As I wrote in the other thread I certainly hope so.
But I have my doubts. Many of those who agree most with Trump about illegal immigration have no love whatsoever for John McCain...
opocorn:well if you go by the comments under the post, Americans are still behind himWell maybe you're right looking at the comments section of his Facebook Post not apologizing:

I will say I'm not surprised by his approach (Trump could murder someone on TV and wouldn't apologize, I am convinced). It will be interesting to see how it plays out though - it does give his opponents the kind of ammo they need. It's one thing for Trump to be offensive to a group that isn't strongly represented in the Republican party - it's quite another when he picks a group like POWs.

Except I'm not a liberal.. I'm an independent, I think for myself.Again, the problem with posts like this is that "sanity" basically means "whatever I believe in". I think Herman Cain was out front at this point too. But Trump is self-funded, has huge name recognition, and the network and cable news programs of all stripes are eating him up.Last time we had a pretty big turnover rate of crazies at the top of the poll, didn't we? Cain, Bachman, Santorum all had their time well ahead of anything that mattered at the top of the polls iirc.
