Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

Trump got slapped around a couple times by Fiorina and Bush (when he went after W about the Iraq war) but it was early enough that he had time to bounce back well.

Interesting to see how differently Jeb approached Trump. In the first debate he was all buddy buddy with him because he figured he was a joke. He seems to be getting frustrated that he's still up there now and he gets flustered any time he interacts with him. Almost like he can't believe this is really happening.

Crazybee is just playing for favor from whomever gets the nomination at this point. He spent more of his time talking about how awesome the other candidates were than he spent talking about himself.

It reminds me of the "Simpson's" episode with Jeb as Frank Grimes and Trump as Homer.

Disagree

Trump held pat way more than Carson did.

I can't believe I'm saying that, and I can't believe Rubio isnt the runaway leader either.

Trump did OK in general (thought most of his good quips went towards the already irrelevant Rand Paul), but got owned in two exchanges. One with Fiorina where they went back and forth and it ended with practically a standing O from the audience for Fiorina. The other was with Jeb who he got the better of most of the night, except in the exchange about the Iraq war where he went after Dubya and Jebby got all pissed off and went all "I'll tell you what my brother did, he kept American SAFE.......#####" and then gave Trump a cold stare-down as the audience applauded and Trump gave his patented awww shucks shrug.

My take is that Fiorina was the only candidate that had the potential of a game changing performance. I don't think Trump or Carson lost any momentum tonight.

In the next week, I see Trump, Carson and Fiorina break out from the pack.

I thought Fiorina gained the most ground. I still feel crazy about this, but IMHO Trump dominated. I thought Carson tumbled out of the race entirely.

He was just as bad last time. He'll gain in polls based on the fact he is black. Just wait until he's Trump's VP.

Oh stop with the add homonym attack

Mff. So the Republicans are so crazy that they can't believe that they are being beaten at their own game by Donald Trump. Jeb is just in disbelief. Awesome.

Ted Cruz solidified his already strong reputation tonight as one of the creepiest people in America. Scott Walker a close second.

Yeah I predict Fiorina takes Carsons spot in second place.

Let's examine your statement about Carson.

I disagree for the following reasons. In order for Carson to tumble out of the race you would have to argue that Fiorina stole some of his support. I don't think that is where Fiorina's support is going to come from.

Fiorina's support is going to come from women who are currently backing establishment guys and those male supporters of establishment guys who don't feel comfortable backing Trump or Carson, who they feel are more crazy/nut jobs/out of their depth types.

This is going to effectively become a five horse race in short order. You will have Trump and Carson as the anti-establishment guys. Fiorina, although anti-establishment, doesn't draw the passionate anti-establishment voters. She draws some but her strength will be as the anti-establishment candidate that those voters supporting establishment candidates feel comfortable migrating too because they think Carson and Trump just aren't qualified.

Then there will be a race to see what two guys will be the establishment backers or the last two period.

I don't see Jeb Bush pulling out of this death spiral but he has so much money that he can't be counted out of the top 5.

And I am really surprised to see Rubio and Cruz being so marginalized in the grand scheme of things. I thought they would be performing better than they are.

By this time next week, I see:

Trump

Carson

Fiorina

Bush

Cruz/Rubio

Then I think we are going to see Fiorina really accelerate and possibly surpass Carson in a couple of weeks. Her rise is going to crush the candidacies of most of the others.

The big question I have is what will become of the Jeb Bush cadre of voters. I think Kasich could be that guy, but not sure.

So much of these debates are affected by the moderators, and once again, they were awful. It seems like this is the case more often than not.

First off, I don't even know what Hewitt and Bash were even doing there; Tapper asked 90% of the questions. Hewitt is a fine interviewer and supposedly he was there to ask tough, specific questions- that's what we heard for weeks in the run-up to this debate. I think he managed to ask 3 questions all night and none of them were specific at all. Bash was, if anything, even more invisible.

But even worse than all this, from the moment the debate started Tapper had no control whatsoever. He continually allowed people to interrupt him (Fiorina was the first to realize this and take full advantage of it; later on in the debate other candidates caught on and did the same.) He let them run on and on and say things completely unrelated to the subject matter at hand. (Such as when Fiorina interrupted the debate on Planned Parenthood, briefly linked abortion to Iran-???- and then offered her stump speech about the phone calls she will make on her first day in office.)

As usual, most of the questions were too general. At this point the public is served by hearing specific ideas. Candidates are going to avoid telling you those unless they get specific questions and they're forced to respond.

Everything about this post is awesome. Sorry, I'm out of likes.

Many of those calls: Laying off 30,000 government workers

 After I exhausted my likes on several of your posts? This hardly seems fair.

Does anyone want to bet me that a Republican wins the nomination? Any diehard Democrat out there watching Republicans put on a show. It's crazy that Trump's presence has forced these other candidates to be entertaining.

It's almost like one big joke. I feel like all of these people are going to be in Trump's candidate when he gets elected. Say hello to the people who are going to be running America for the next 8 years.

Otherwise Sanders wins in some flukey youth movement and we get groovy grandpa for the next 8 years. All I know is that ******* have better have a plan for ISIS. He is traditionallly non-war.

It's not that war is great but there are other people who want to exterminate the United States. We have to stop these nutjobs from getting nuclear arms. Strong American leaders were keeping the nutjobs away and Obama is cowarding to these fools.

It sucks but we need a jagoff to send a few of these terrorist regimes back 20 - 30 years. You'll never destroy Radical Islam but you can put it at bay.

I wouldn't be upset if Jeb Bush won. You know that guy is going to stomp a mudhole in the Middle East. Gas prices are going to skyrocket. It could be really awesome for everybody. Watching airstrikes on CNN.

There is still a lot of time left but Republicans have won the last couple of elections, they have the momentum. The Democrats haven't even started their debates yet, which is a mistake. I think it will ultimately depend on the elected candidate and VP choice. Im interested in watching the Democrat debates but have a feeling it's really only a two horse race as I can't see Biden running. They dropped the ball with their scheduling. If there was a democratic debate it would take some of the attention off the republicans but they are a month away.

Who would debate? The GOP is a full blown circus at this point, no reason the Dems have to do anything at all. If Biden doesn't run, it's a one horse race...no pun intended.

Just finished watching on the DVR.

Walker looked like he was stoned.

Trump sounding more like a politician, especially the exit interview.

Carly was very prepared. Carly vs Hillary would be awesome. She would crush Hillary in a debate.

Rubio and Christie stepped up to the plate, and missed a few pitches.

Carson actually was a little louder than usual several times he spoke as compared to last time. He should stick to the 10% and not call it tithing. He also gained about 500,000 FB followers today.

Cruz, it would take him about two seconds to find the camera to focus on and then would send us all his creepy, laser stare.

Jeb smokes pot :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Well, at least we will get to remember him by this.

Kasich never gets enough air time.

WTF is Paul doing on that stage?

Huckabee is a :tfp: x 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
