I have been told over and over that Trump has no shot to win the presidency.Sorry, I'm not for pushing a joke candidate that might #### us for 4 years to "blow it all up".I can definitely understand and respect how anyone might feel that my position is illogical or disconnected. I struggle with it myself. In my shoes, I see two options:So, you are so angry at your party over such issues, you are supporting a candidate whose platform thus far will expand government and run up higher deficits.Again, some disconnect going on...your reasoning for Trump seems completely illogical.sho nuff
But it goes beyond immigration so you are over simplifying it to a degree.
Yes. Immigration is a huge issue for me. But my hatred towards my party extends to a vast array of issues. Most notably bigger, more expansive government, deficits, etc
If my party was actually advancing conservative principles but falling short on immigration then my anger wound be much less intense and I wouldn't be motivated to vote for Trump at all. I would seek out a real GOPer.
1. Continue trying to work within the system so to speak and hope that they (the establishment) finally gets it, or
2. Blow it up and let the chips fall where they may
I think you have written you are a Republican or used to be. Forgive me if my recollection is off...my notebook isn't all that great anymore.
So, I am presuming that you and I see eye to eye on some major issues. With respect to option 1...what hope do I realistically have?
I ask because I have lived through the following:
A. GOP control of the white house and congress from 2000-2006 (nothing happened on immigration and massive expansion of government)
B. GOP recently regained control of Congress (nothing happened and massive expansion of government)
C. Eric Cantor got destroyed in his primary by a no-name that was outspent 40-1 because he supported amnesty (GOP didn't get the message)
D. Numerous attempts to unseat Boehner (GOP didn't get the message)
E. Boehner finally dethroned (GOP tries to install McCarthy and didn't get the message)
F. Ryan steps on the grenade and now he under threat of being primaried like Cantor (GOP still doesn't seem to get the message)
G. Trump speaks on these issues that resonate with the GOP voters (GOPe bends over backwards to sabotage, mock, ridicule Trump and his followers)
Suppose for a second that Trump is the worst candidate to ever promote conservative values. Assume that you think he is the ultimate joke of a candidate. That your own party has to be filled with brain dead morons if they would ever vote this clown show of a candidate.
When that candidate wins...do you not think that that sends a message? This is the question I ask myself.
Because after A thru G above... I am not optimistic that a vote for Rubio fixes the problem, you know what I mean?
I don't think we should okay games with the presidency.
Regardless, I respect your position and understand where you are coming from.
