Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Trump is right on eminent domain, the crowd can boo if they want. It's idiocy to think otherwise.
No. People should not have their property taken by the government for private profit. Screw that.
Do you drive to work every day? If you do, you're using eminent domain property.
No kidding. That's a public use, not a casino or a mall.
So is your line at buildings and not roads? What about schools? Infrastructure such as a pipeline, railway? Keep in mind, rail also involves for profit uses but is a necessity.
My line is the situation in the Kelo case and what Trump pulled in AC. Here in NO after Katrina the government absorbed a score square blocks and drove out renters, home owners, people who had rebuilt. 150 year old neighborhood. When you see the guts torn out the middle of your town so some politically connected individuals can make a load of money please let me know how that is.
My point is, eminent domain is necessary. In the case you mentioned that's a local government issue. Not surprising in NO.
It can be. Like I said in my edit above I have no problem with the road example.

I like that Kasich guy. He's got experience at more levels than any candidate. Why isn't he higher in the polls.
As he recently said he should be in the Democratic primary
It says a lot if that's really the case.. It's like the right has become to demand some sort of purity like one would of a Middle Eastern bride.
I disagreeHe's a big government guy. The problem with this country isn't that it's mismanaged. Which is his argument.

The Republican base sees the problem as the govt is to big.
In what way is Kasich a big government guy?
Look at his massive expansion of Medicaid in Ohio. He's really not cutting govt.

He's a manager.

I'm just explaining why he's not catching on.

So your complaint with him is that he took the federal dollars for Medicaid in Ohio rather than having his constituents pay for it all, in addition to their federal taxes?

He's not the most charasmatic personality. But I think part of his issue is how far to the right extreme the party has moved and he's not seen as "pure" by the right.

It's not a complaint.

He did what he thought was best for ohio.

I just don't think it makes your Arab bride analogy correct. He also has no anger.

For better or worse we have a angry electorate.

Cruz is a smart guy, I have to give him credit. I dont agree with his politics but he's sharp.
I agree. His problem is that he feels the need to tell you every ten seconds just how smart he is.
I've actually read many times that's why he's so unpopular. He's the smartest guy in the room, but also the biggest doosh
I've said this on the board a few times, but if you really want to know why people dislike this guy, look up my friend's Twitter account. @clmazin He lived in a room with Ted for 10 months and has uncommon insight into why he's so intensely disliked.

Thanks for the reminder and the Twitter account!!! I've heard of that story but haven't looked into it. :goodposting: x10

Ha actually I've seen this, great stuff.

So, Ohio and NJ have seen big increases in employment during the Obama administration. Not that either candidate has much of a chance, but that approach won't go over well against Hillary.
