Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

Which of course is not what you said. No one from the GOP stands a chance if Trump runs 3rd party. Trump stands no chance if Cruz/Rubio/Kasich runs 3rd party.
None of those clowns are running 3rd party. They either get the R nomination or they are gone. Therefore, like I said, Trump is the only 'R' that can win.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting, to be sure. The polls are all over the place, with some suggesting a huge win for Trump and Rubio in second, whereas the WSJ polls and campaign internals indicate that Cruz is surging to within the MOE of Trump.
I find that the polls that come out very late which indicate a candidate surging usually overemphasizes that rise and when polling actually happens things go back to 'normal'

:lmao:  at posting a fantasy election with Kasich.
Try to keep up. You said he was the only one capable of winning the WH. Polls show Trump would NOT beat Hillary. Or Sanders. Kasich would. If Trump runs 3rd party, he still is NOT going to the WH. Trump will likely win the GOP, but that's about as far as he's going. If Kasich could somehow win the GOP, he has a real shot at the WH.

Didn't polls just a few short months ago say hillary  was 100% Democrats nominee.

Long way to go before people should pin a snap shot in February  as to who and who can't win.

I think once the anti Trump stories start (after and if he's nominated)  Trump gets swept.  Guys a jerk.

I certainly don't trust the polls, at least not individual polls or those at a single point in time. Trends are more trustworthy. As is Vegas. Clinton still leads the books, followed by Trump and Sanders. My original point though is that Kasich is more electable in the general. I would potentially vote for him. As would many other undecideds/moderates/etc. Trump's only chance in the general is Hillary backlash/hate.

There is only one person running on the R side that is capable of winning the WH. That is Trump.

Bush has ZERO chance because if somehow he weaseled his way to the nomination, Trump will run independent because it would be a slap in his face if Bush became president.

I'm also pretty confident that if Trump doesn't falter and the R's 'pick' the winner, he also runs IND and prevents them from winning the WH. He would have to totally collapse and bow out, not to be running for Pres.

You people may as well get on board Trump because if you don't you are just 'wasting your vote' on an election you can't possibly win.

I'm all for Trump running 3rd party, I don't think it's the disaster for the GOP that Goppers fear and I don't think it's the defeat of Hillary that others desire.

Send him packing.

There was not one poll that said that.

Rush has basically endorsed Cruz, too.

"You will never, ever have to worry about that with Ted Cruz." And let me say one thing: If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan...

But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here.  Ted Cruz has got to be your guy.  There's nobody even close.  Nobody.

He's right - Cruz is pretty much the conservative choice but I'm not sure that's good enough. This isn't like Romney plus four conservative choices. This time it's the establishment vote getting fractured - and the leading con still isn;t winning.

The GOP are pretty clueless.  Doing everything they can to sabotage the guy leading the polls in their party.  Pitiful seeing the conservative media and GOP dog Trump.   He's leading the polls you morons.   You're not even backing the most popular guy in your own damn party.  You're going to lose everything. Idiots

It would be interesting to see what would happen if they all got behind Trump.

Just amazing to me that Rush and other conservatives could compare Ted Cruz to Ronald Reagan. Cruz has got to be the farthest guy from Reagan that I can imagine. Reagan was willing to compromise with Tip O'Neil to get stuff done. Cruz won't even compromise with his own party. Reagan raised taxes in order to save Social Security. Cruz is such a fanatical ideologue that he would shut down the entire government before raising taxes. Reagan granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. Cruz could never conceive of such pragmatism.

But most of all Ronald Reagan was an optimist, a man who made people feel good about themselves. He brought Americans together. Ted Cruz is one of the worst examples of the divisiveness that has torn apart this country.

because the guy leading the polls sucks.

In fact, he's perhaps the smartest pol since Bill Clinton- Princeton BA, Harvard JD, editor of Harvard Law Review, national debate champion, world debate semi-finalist, etc. Moreover, Dershowitz has noted that Cruz is the smartest person he's ever taught. As for Cruz's comment on gluten-free foods, I think he was just engaging in conservative tough guy talk/ poking fun at lefty culture (political correctness, obsession with diversity, gluten free foods, and so on). I mean, I have a lot of gluten free friends, none of whom have celiac disease, and I make fun of them for it all the time.

Here's the full quote:

That's why the last thing any commander should need to worry about is the grades he is getting from some plush-bottomed Pentagon bureaucrat for political correctness or social experiments -- or providing gluten-free MREs.
So dang smart even his peers hate his guts.

Kasish is a boring candidate. Jeb is done. Trump is a clownshow running the biggest con job in political history. Nobody likes Cruz. That leaves Rubio. He is smart, articulate and sane.

This is a recording. I repeat, this is a recording.

Welcome to the ffa!

Will There Be a Brokered Convention?

Except this time with the strongest GOP field in decades, it's a real possibility if you look at the party rules and the allocation of delegates.

Carson will do anything he can to keep his campaign going, as it allows him to travel the country on other people's money so that he can sell his books, etc.
Carson is staying in to stick it to Cruz for Iowa. He knows he can't win but will siphon off the evangelical vote from Cruz. I heard Carson'r wife this morning emphatically state they are continuing on after South Carolina. I think he'll stay through Super Tuesday and then get out.

Why does everyone hate Cruz?  I have to think most politicians are jackholes.
He comes off as a major slime ball.

He comes off as far slimier than the average politician, which is really saying something.

When he smiles, he looks like a child molester.

His sliminess has trickled down to those supporting him.  On three separate occasions this week, on one of the cable news channels, I saw someone from his campaign on there talking, and every single one of them came off as just as slimy as Cruz does.

For as much as an insulting **** as Trump is, at least he owns it. Cruz is a perfect example of dirty politics, yet plays the "who, me?" game whenever asked about it.

Both parties are getting what they deserve if Sanders can take down Clinton. Trump already has destroyed the republicans. He either wins or they lose and don't think he won't come back in 4 years and teach them another lesson if he isn't already the president.

Strikes me as one of those ultra nerds that is too smart he doesn't understand how to relate to normal people.
Its way worse than that.

JD - if you really want to know, just google "Everybody hates Ted Cruz". One Hundred stories will come up. But basically he's an ### who only cares about himself at the expense of anyone else.

Carson was never running for President. He was selling books and making money. Once his staff figured that out the serious ones bailed. He's not getting out until the money stops coming in.

To some degree it was cultivated on purpose. His plan all along was to run as an outsider - he needed the establishment to hate him. To what degree that would have all come naturally is difficult to tell - maybe he's just playing to his "strength".

I mean, I figured he must just be a horrible person to work for/with for everybody to hate him.  Didn't really know about the only care about himself angle.

You think Kasich is going to win Ohio?
Well only one time in history has someone won the presidency without carrying his home state and the state he was born in. This poll has Kasich replicating James K Polks miracle so I like my chances of this scenario being wrong.

So...you mean....he is still getting higher numbers than every other candidate?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Sure but it's a problem for him, it's good as long as the rest of the field is fractured. He won't be a consensus nominee at this rate, he may not be nominee at all.
