***Official 2017 NCAA Hoops Tourney thread: Congrats UNC, all the refs from NCCG should be banned for life*** (1 Viewer)

Totally unrealistic but would love to see the bracket if the committee took the top team in each region and let them choose the bracket.  Then we'd know what the coaches think of Wichita, or Minnesota, or whoever else.
Think it'd be better to let them select top 4 teams and the top 4 seeds in each bracket select their pod. Or else you could see UNC put Duke as their 2 and just load the bottom half of their bracket.

Yeah at best Wisconsin is a 6. Nova got them two days after playing another decent team while they had a 16 seed.

Probably could have been done better but Nova lost to Wisconsin fair and square. Not like they didn't get invited to the dance.
Exactly. My original questioning was that Nova was railroaded. Maybe I wasn't clear on that.

Yeah but then UNC is choosing to load the South Region and hurting their own Final Four chances.

that long underwear is a little questionable.  unless those are compression sleeves or something, i haven't seen something that silly since the Nebraska WR wearing a hoodie under his jersey.
I was just getting ready to say something about this. Those pants they're  wearinglook ridiculous.

that kid must be a cbs plant.  There is no possible way that any human in this world could be that passionate about Northwestern basketball.

The jokes on the Capital One commercials are better than last year's set.  Of course it doesn't matter much  after you've seen them 20 or 30 times.

I don't get the Isaac top-5 pick stuff. What does he do great? He just floats around.
he and elfrid will look very cool together.

body type + size + fluidity  make him super intriguing, even if basketball iq may not be that high.  also makes him perfect for the magic.

didn't xavier lose one of its top players at the end of the year?  would have no idea so far in the tourney (though FSU's sloppy offense has obviously helped this game).

Yeah in February and they didn't beat anybody since then but Depaul twice and Creighton (who lost their best player too).  Piss poor by Florida State

Great game, great season for Northwestern.  Should be a serious Big Fourteen contender next season.  Heck of a coaching job by Collins.

16 seasons for Leonard Hamilton. 5 tournaments, 1 sweet 16. That's it. No idea why this is considered good enough.

He can recruit. Seems like he coaches well in the ACC. He just isn't a good tourney coach. Has the one surprise S16 but underachieved so many years.

With Hamilton I think he does just enough to have pretty much total job security at a football-oriented school in a really, really tough basketball conference.  He's a fantastic recruiter and an average game coach at best.  But he rescued FSU from the netherworld of the post-Sura Pat Kennedy era and the Steve Robinson years and he's the best coach they've ever had (for admittedly a young program).  That makes him tough to shove aside.  However, this game is probably a serious hit against him with the fans and maybe the school.

Reminds me of how much coaching turnover is on the way in the ACC in the next five or so seasons.

One of the cheerleaders was already blubbering. Probably his older sister.
Apparently it's the AD's son

I'm told the crying kid CBS wouldn't stop showing (unfairly, IMO) was Northwestern AD Jim Phillips' son.

I agree with all of this, particularly the post-Robinson era, but I don't think his results are particularly good. Also, they are significantly more talented than Xavier and were never in the game. That's just awful.
