*Official 2017 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Parade of Champions Down Broad Street! (4 Viewers)

Well, if the James TD was overturned, then why not Ertz TD? There is a valid argument. The problem is the rule needs to change.
Not even comparable plays.  James didn't establish himself as a runner.  Ertz actually possessed the ball and then took two steps before lunging for the goalline.

I'll tell you one thing I'll never do is say to a fan of a team that hasn't won a super bowl yet, "How many rings ya got!?!?"

How I've always hated that phrase and still think of the colossal ##### Pats fan that I wanted to punch out at my wife cousin's wedding a few years ago...but I digress.

Fans of Minnesota, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland and the others, I sincerely hope you get to feel this someday. If you're a die hard for your team like we are--you so deserve to experience this!

Nah #### them

No there isn't. Ertz caught the ball and took four steps toward the endzone before being undercut - and as a RUNNER as soon as the ball breaks the plane its a TD.

While I agree with your statement above, the catch rule is a little vague here:

maintains control of the ball after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, until he has the ball long enough to clearly become a runner. A player has the ball long enough to become a runner when, after his second foot is on the ground, he is capable of avoiding or warding off impending contact of an opponent, tucking the ball away, turning up field, or taking additional steps .
In the case of the James play I do not think that he was capable of avoiding or warding off impending contact of an opponent and while he clearly had control of the ball with both feet, his hips and one elbow down he did not tuck the ball away, nor did he take additional steps.  However he did turn up field at the one yard line when he lunged for the goal line.

The replay official (after looking at the play for > 5 minutes) obviously did not think that was enough to be considered a catch so it was ruled incomplete.

Collins worth made both eagles second half TDS sound like they should be overturned which influenced many.  Dude needed to ####.  Like the pats never get any calls.  And this one was a no brainer should not have even needed to be looked at td

I honestly don't like Collinsworth.  He's so overly dramatic and often times just completely wrong.  For him to make a big deal out of those calls (which were correct) in the SuperBowl is just ludicrous.

I generally do not hate him as much as some, but last night he showed poorly. It was embarrassing to hear him spout on and on about those catches. The Clement one was at least debatable but the Ertz one would have ruined the NFL if they overturned it. Personally I would have stopped watching for good if they overturned that one.

I used to really dislike him but he's grown on me over time.  But last night was his worst preformance in a long time.  I was just wishing he would shut up.  Sadly he's still better than joe buck

The Clement one was much closer.  Came down to exactly when he established possession, since that 3rd step was OOB, and the ball moved a bit.  I thought the call was correct though, but it probably wouldn't have been reversed if it was called incomplete on the field.

At least Foles is able to make a clean catch in the end zone :)

Even Viking Fans?

O.K., some day, I suppose.

The foles TD catch was epic

This is gonna sound weird but the eagles running out to rap and pats running out to crazy train told me the eagles were gonna win before the game started

in the waaaaaay back machine ....

I remember a website from like 10-15 years ago, which was just a single picture and clock.  It was something like "last time eagles won a championship".  They made a slight change to it when the Phillies won, but it still referenced that the Eagles had never won a super bowl.  Anyone happen to remember the site or the URL?  I thought it was something like "philadelphiaeaglessuck.com", in all seriousness.

Since I cant concentrate at all today, I figured I would ask.

The thing is...you think about the people who are fans of this team....people who lost loved ones who loved this team. It's perfect.   It's awesome.  The Old Guard......I love that they got this Super Bowl before they left this world.  I love this win more for the people who have suffered longer than I have.  The media show the younger crowd out there......but hell....those 60-70-80 year olds who have been crushed year in and year out...... who are just sitting home watching......this is theirs. It's all of ours.
Not trying to hipple here, but this is a huge deal.  I lost my mom 7 some year ago and she was the biggest Eagles fan I ever knew.  Ill never forget the nights when I was a kid listening to the blacked-out games.  I know she is smiling now.

Yea, there were a few comments I remember saying to my wife.

"Once again the Superbowl ends on the last play".  Really?  Ya think?

There there were a few times in a row the Eagles ran on 1st down and got ~2 yards.  "Well, this really opens up the playbook for Patricia.  He can call anything here".  WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!

I think one more award still needs to be given: thread title MVP and Insein is a no brainer recipient. His title changes were always on point and usually funny as hell. He even changed the thread title to be nice to Cowboy fans when they got their feelings hurt.

Insein, is there any way you can list all the thread titles for the season? It would be a great way to relive the season. Awesome job, dude!!

Great to see.  Philly was my first "favorite team" when I was a kid and getting introduced to the game.  I was 10 when I first saw Wilbert Montgomery gliding all over the place and Harold Carmichael soaring over everyone else to catch passes, and Jaws was just the coolest name ever.

I honestly think even the Clement catch.   Lets assume that it was a bobble.   On the replay to me it looked like his foot the ended up out of bounds had a little bit of drag before it hit out.  You could see rubber pellets fly up.

I don't think there was enough to over turn it but would not have been surprised if it was reversed

I thought the Clement and Ertz TDs were both good calls to anyone who's been watching football their whole lives. But based on how the NFL rules these lately, I thought for sure the Clement one would be overturned and I was afraid the Ertz one could've been ruled a touchback (remember that absurd Jets call?). You never know what the stupid refs are going to do.

Unfortunately I never saved them. But I appreciate the love.

I'll pass the torch on to someone else as I usually do in even years. Let's let this one digest a bit till maybe the combine. Then we can start a new as Defending champs!

I thought both were TDs in my mind..but I really though both would be overturned given the history of bad calls on catches.

Being a long suffering Lion fan I was rooting hard for Philly to win.  I like Brady for what he was accomplished but really enjoyed the way Foles played yesterday.  The players won but Pederson allowed the players to win that game with his play calling and risk taking.  FGs were not going to win this game. The play before the half might be my favorite play I have ever seen.  Enjoy Eagle fans you deserve it!

Fly Eagles fly!!

Congrats Eagles fans.

Have to feel bad for Wentz - he seems very supportive but this has to be killing him a bit.

Not like he’ll be Wally Pipped, so this will probably motivate him more to win one himself.
If anything, its good for him to be there for the experience and to now want to win one of his own.

Just hoping he doesn't feel any extra pressure to do what Foles did, especially if Foles is watching from the bench.

They did it.  They really friggin did it.

The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions.  I am so friggin happy right now.

I have no worries about Carson. That dude is wired different than all of us. He doesn't feel jealousy. But he will get motivated. It's going to be his mission all next season to win one when he's the starter.
