*Official 2017 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Parade of Champions Down Broad Street! (1 Viewer)

As a person who served 15 years in the military as did my brother, sister, father and uncles please don't sign Kenny Still I couldn't root for any man who doesn't have enough respect to stand for the American flag.
You fought for freedom but don't believe in freedom?  Interesting...

I know spending big in free agency is not a great indicator of future success but it's hard not to be excited about these additions

Possibly.  I've used this name on a bunch of boards for years.  Don't visit any baseball boards regularly anymore.
It's a little funny because a friend of mine on Facebook invited me into a Philly sports group. One of the guys on there belonged to another board I use to regular post at but was only there for a few yrs.

I'm liking this ... Hopefully betting on himself will result in a large increase in work ethic and reduction in injuries.  Great moves by Howie with something to prove.
I agree I'd gladly eat my humble pie if it works out long term however I've never been a huge Alshon fan and always thought he was extremely overrated just based on a lot of things I saw in College and in the pros. He's not like someone else said on the Dez/julio/AJ/Amari/etc level WR.

That's the great thing about  a 1 year prove-it deal.

He'll be motivated.
I agree however then you worry is he motivated to only get the money and go back to what he was before or does it motivate him knowing he might have a shot at a title and more winning? That's a huge chance especially if he gets what Mosher said is 15-20m his next deal if he proves himself. I hate spending huge money on anyone not a QB, your Right or left Tackle (Depending what your QB blindside is), or your important D member. Like it's been said Jeffrey isn't a top 5 WR even with great work ethic. So I'd rather not pay him that sort of $$$

I'll throw it out there now: do you go best available RB with #14?

ETA: CB would be nice here as well, depending on how it shakes out.
I'd be hard pressed to pass on Fournett if he was there or Cook but given RBs these days I'd prefer the CB. That or do we maybe trade back to say from 14 to maybe 18-17 and acquiring more picks given our cap?

Even as a Titans fan, I'm sad that the state of your OL leaves excited for Warmack. Obviously, there is a chance he gets his head out of his behind and actually start playing up to his draft potential, but I'd not put money on it
Well theres the fact his college Oline coach is here as well who he was very close too.

If we could do that and still get one of those guys I would love it

It's the benefit of having one of the needs or more then one need filled in FA. I still say Jeffrey doesn't stay next year unless Howie works another miracle so we still might need a WR. This draft is deep in RB so we could get one late and take a CB in the first round. We need to hit on our picks to keep the cap down as we are I think still bot 10 in cap next offseason too.

Who cares.  I want him to stay there and be a malcontent.  Screw the saints
Saints are screwing the pooch. Seeing how some of these teams signed FA WR and not to as big as what most expected Saints asked for the moon for Cooks I know Drew Brees hasn't had the best of relationships with the FO in recent yrs either.

Rapoport:

Alshon Jeffery turned down a multi-year deal with more security from Vikings, but he is betting himself long term with the Eagles and Wentz
What kind of numbers would Jeffery need to put up this season to be paid more than 14mil year?

1200 yards 8 TDs?

It was more tongue in cheek. They held out and lost a potential trade partner. Now they have to say they wanted him all along if they keep him.

It's a one year deal, I don't think this stops us from going WR at 14 a little bit. Why would it?
I don't think it necessarily stops us at all either. I wonder if there's anything in Jefferys contract that says we can't take him?

OJ Howard, think of the matchup problems.
Thought about that but Ertz is making big money, Celek got extended recently and Burton just got a decent tender. I think we're fine there.

I really hope a team who values him though gives us a future one if they like him at 14. That would be sweet.

I think he'd have to do better than that. If he's healthy, I can see him matching his prime #'s. He's the best FA WR to hit the market in a pretty long time.

It's not just numbers but also work ethic and being a model citizen. I have a feeling a lot of people had similar concerns as us on Jeffrey personal and character wise which is why he wasn't getting his best deal.

I like the idea of jeffery+smith + cbs in the draft much better than paying Bouye what he got + drafting a WR.

I wish that we had a little more upside with Jeffery in terms of options, but seems like that is what he was seeing elsewhere so why not give him what he wants this year and then just try to re-sign him if it goes really well?  howie will do some cap magic by next year, I'm sure.

#Eagles have to use their first pick, and maybe their top two, on cornerbacks. Can't take a WR at No. 1

I also don't discount the fact that the Eagles might just franchise Jeffery for the next two years if they need to and he outperforms the 1-yr deal. Don't have to start paying Wentz for an extension for 3 more years, might give a high-pick WR time to learn/develop? I don't know, just throwing stuff out there. Happy he's here and it's not a 3+ year deal out of the gate. Howie impresses yet again.

Someone is pretty happy today I guess having to throw to Nelson Agholar does that to you

maybe. I have to think as a veteran WR who knows he is at an important part in his career, i would think he wants to get good numbers. No competition for the majority of targets vs. competing with Rudolph and Diggs probaby played into it. I am thinking more likely, the thought of playing with Bradford vs. Wentz really influenced it as well

Didn't the titans have some bum Oline coach who became a Te coach or something like that because he was so bad. The Titans got rid of that guy and you see a vast improvement in their Oline. Now Warmack got hurt year when they added two good rbs and Marcus started looking like a legit Qb. I think him coming back to Stoutland will help him, He is also taking over for Barbe who is a very solid back up but he isn't pushing the pile.

lol, saw this on bleedinggreennation (sorry if double post):

Nelson Agholor ranks 118th out of 119 wide receivers graded by @PFF. (119 is … Torrey Smith)
i get there are all sorts of other variables in it, but it is kind of funny
Very vast different situations here though. Who did Smith have throwing him the ball and look who the coach was. On top of that look who coached the Eagles and who Nelson was catching balls from. Plus Smith is coming to a better overall talent team now

yeah, i know and i get it. Funny stat was the point. But i think this should be weighed in with a lot of us arm-chair QBs analysis of some skill positions.

Great signings by the Eagles, this team will be fun to watch this year. I never was sure what went wrong last year either, they always looked better than the final score to me.

this is kind of what it was. Lot of games with something silly here or there, and some of it can be attributed to rookie head coach and rookie QB. it's kind of like Chip's last year (i think, maybe it was the year before) where the Eagles would have literally had 5 more wins if they had a capable kicker. this year they had stuff like the fumble at the end of the Detroit game, or the game in Dallas when they were up 10 points with about 10 minutes to go in the game. i know there is more...

I don't know though. It's been said that this is the deepest CB draft of the past 10 years. IF they think Mills can play maybe they wait until round 2? I'm not sure.
count me in as really want CB in 1st. depth is great, but depth can mean a few things. I am not enough of a CFB to know what it is, but i know plenty of times it may mean that there is not a clear top tier, or you have a ton of guys who will be capable of making an NFL roster, but are closer to CB2's, high CB3s. give me a top CB like the premier young guys in the league, and i will be very pleased

I always want BPA if you do that your less likely to get a flop and its not like they are don't need almost every position either this year or last year outside of maybe QB and Te.
