*Official 2017 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Parade of Champions Down Broad Street! (5 Viewers)

Looks like on Sportrac we have 11.3MM available
Take a minute to remember that the Eagles started free agency this year with $13.9MM in cap space. Then they did what they did in FA, signed all their draft picks, restructured some deals, and did these trades. All for a net cost of $2.6MM in cap space.

Or who trades a draft pick for a 37 year old long snapper?
Isn't it a conditional 7th?  Isn't that pretty much nothing?  One could say "at least it's something"... but a 7th is the same as just taking an Undrafted FA.

EDT:  What were the cap ramifications of a cut vs a trade?  This is probably what helps us the most from it.

Do we have the ability/appetite to get Joe Haden in here? Looks like on Sportrac we have 11.3MM available and Haden is owed 11.1MM. Haden and Darby to start 2017, Darby warms the seat for Jones while he gets healthy: Browns open to trade offers for veteran CB Joe Haden
Don't think we would go this route.  We have already brought in some CB's and the season starts in a week.  I don't think we go chase a high profile CB like Haden at this point, it wouldn't really fit with what we're doing.

Even if it helps get a jump up in a trade or get a head start on someone you don't want to risk being an undrafted FA it helps. I wonder if they were going to just cut him.

Cap #'s are below

Eagles save $825,000 in cap space by trading Dorenbos. ($262,500 in dead money)

It's a 7th, no conditions. But it being in 2019, it's essentially "no value" in today's capital, according to the value charts teams use.

I think it opened up $875k in cap room.

Very likely. They probably kept Lovato from last year and all through camp this year, with exactly that possibility in mind and figured if they saw at least a negligible difference between the two, they could go with the guy 13 years younger making way less money.

Nice.  Obviously the cap space is the real win here then.  If there's little difference between him and Lovato then I'm all for it.

Dorenbos has by far the quickest snap of all long snappers (last I knew), so I doubt that there is little difference, but I would imagine that a wrist injury could be really bad for a long snapper.  I wonder if they have been timing him during camp and saw a drop-off.

Very interested to see what his price on the open market is as an UFA and not tied to the Browns deal any longer. Will have my eye on this.
Yes him being flat out cut changes things a little bit.  The contract and giving up a pick were the biggest hurdles.  Like all of us, pretty safe to assume that we should kick the tires and make our offer but stick to it and if someone else will overpay for him then no big deal.

Throwing stuff at the wall, if the market was light-ish on a LT deal, do you spend a bit if Howie can get him on a 1-year deal while Jones recovers? I'm with you, not sure a mega multi-year deal is prudent, but that could be a great add if we overpay a little for just 2017.

As far as Haden goes I'm not sure he's much more than a name at this point. Reports are that he's running in the 4.7-4.8 range as well. Bringing him in also sends a bad message to guys like Darby, Mills and Douglas.

What happened to him to make him lose a step or two at such a young age?  Hes only 28.  Used to be a top 5 corner in the game.

He also had some struggles the season before, so he was already on the decline, before the injury (and aging two more years.)

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of six teams “very much in the mix” for free agent cornerback Joe Haden, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora. Haden is reportedly expected to sign with a new team in the next 24 hours.
I understand everyone's reservations, but definitely seems at least looking into.  I guess there is an argument that you have a lot of young guys and you don't want to risk anyone taking away from Jenkins' leadership (though I'm not sure if anybody is clear whether Haden would be a problem in the locker room or not).

Reading reports that suggest the Eagles may look to upgrade the RB position during final cuts, presumably cutting Blount and saving some $.  While he has not looked very impressive thus far, what superior RBs can we reasonably expect to be on the open market?  Would a less proven player who looks like a better "scheme fit" really be much of an upgrade?

No brainer as far as I'm concerned.  These GMs have film from last year. It may be a pure salary dump by Cleveland. If he still looks like a Pro Bowl-level talent, in a division with Dez Bryant, Odell Beckham?Brandon MArshall, and Tyrell Pryor/Jamison Crowder, you get him in here.

Rumors are there that Matt Jones may get cut by Washington.  Not sure he ever got a fair look. Matt Forte is available also.  Not sure what he has left, though.

yeah so about all this...

Haden has been hit hard with injuries. I think had a hip injury or knee issue in 2015 that lingered last year too. He's not the guy he was 5 yrs ago or when he was still at Florida.

Homer in me says get Jones if Cut. I don't think he got a fair shake in Was. He dealt with some injuries, fumbling issues and Kelly took the his chances and ran with it (Pun not intended). Depending what kind of deal I'd be interested. Could fit well in here.

I don't know about that. The last CB they liked from Cleveland was Justin Gilbert lol
Gilbert seemed there were personal issues there. Browns LT Joe Thomas who is very vocal went after Gilbert after he was cut by Pitt for not putting his heart into playing. Thomas is a heck of a follow on twitter though. Very similar to Chris Long entertaining.

Cut Blount.  Go get Forte for a very cheap deal.  I'm sure we would be near the top of his list.  Close to NY, team on the rise/that could possibly make a run, gets to be the starter (we might be the only team he could walk onto and start).  I'd like to grab him and run him into the ground this year.

Forte has nothing left.  Doesn't help us at all.  He's already hurt
Don't think he's injured?  But that's beside the point.  I just think Blount needs to go and a proven pass catching back like Forte could be good for the kids.  Think he has half a year left in him.

I'm not against cutting Blount.  Would rather give clement or trade for another RB though

Ya I still wish we could have made a run at Ingram.  ANY chance clement and blount both make the team?
ingram would be great.  but saints arent that dumb.  maybe lacy?  seattle seems to have like 3 other rbs on there roster they like....

Matt Jones would be a great signing if released. I'd imagine he'd be plenty motivated against the team the Eagles can't seem to beat
