Wondering what kind of money Prince Amukamara and Morris Claiborne are asking for ?
Probably more than they are worth right now. Every decent CB is still drooling over Gillmore's deal. Hopefully the impending deep draft class will help reset the market. Maybe two more days of free agent madness, then Howie can start perusing the bargain rack.

Would be great if he had some money to spend once the dust settles. Find a taker for Chase Daniel!

Didn't the titans have some bum Oline coach who became a Te coach or something like that because he was so bad. The Titans got rid of that guy and you see a vast improvement in their Oline. Now Warmack got hurt year when they added two good rbs and Marcus started looking like a legit Qb. I think him coming back to Stoutland will help him, He is also taking over for Barbe who is a very solid back up but he isn't pushing the pile.
well, there have been a plethora of coaches in TEN trying to dig out Warmacks head from his posterior. None so far have succeeded. Hopefully his former cllege coach is more successful.

There are alot of good players in round 1.  BPA.  Except for wr, te imo
Still disagree. They still need a long term WR to pair with Carson for the next 6-8 years. As good as Alshon can be we have no idea if he's a long term option. If by chance Williams or Davis is there at 14, I would have no problem grabbing one of them two at WR.

Diddinger just said if Dalvin Cook is there, he wouldnt be surprised if they went RB.

I would take one of those plus a high drafted Cb.  Secondary instantly better
I really have no idea how they're viewed or what they're asking for. I was just thinking if we could get one of them on the cheap that would be huge for us.

Yeah while it wouldn't be my preference yesterday doesn't stop them from taking a WR in the 1st.

One thing has been mentioned that could work out; they draft a WR in the first, get Alshon to help groom him for the year, and then let Alshon walk if the kid is for real.

Still hoping they go corner or Cook at 14 though.

Unless Alshon is just bad or badly injured he's going to be here for a while.

I keep waiting for the other shoes to drop.  As far as I know, they can't sign Jeffrey until they free up the space.  So what's the projected line now assuming Kelce and Peters go (though I'm not convinced Peters is gone, but who knows)  Johnson-Barbre/Seumalo-Wisniewski/Seumalo-Brooks-Barbre/Vaitai?  So many questions!

Quick o/t question for locals: I saw an ad for the draft last night that I thought said the whole thing will be outside. True, and, where? The only info I could find mentioned BF Parkway, but sounds more like the fanfest portion. Thx.

I don't think we have to be under the cap until June 1st if I'm not mistaken.

Ill assume both Peters and Kelce are gone and with that said we're looking at:

LT- Lane

LG- Babre or Warmack (his contract reads like depth)

C- Seumalo or Wisniewski

RG- Brooks

RT- Big V or a rookie

Amukamara signed a one-year deal

Im thinking Claiborne gets the same. So many CB's in the draft it doesn't make sense to invest much in this tier of CB.

Yeah it's going to be on the parkway, from what I understand they will set up the stage and theater in front of the steps of the at art museum. (which should look pretty cool on TV) So I think that technically it's outside because the back of the theater is open.

Probably going to look like the Made in America set up, which was pretty awesome IMO.

Thanks so much, Skoo. Trying to picture how they can build a whole theater on the steps; haven't been in a long time. Assume there is some kind of covering for Selection Square in case of rain.

As far as i know it's the first day of the league year, which was yesterday.

Some quick hits:

  • Eagles have to be under the cap as of yesterday, at 4pm. The Jeffery deal probably is not officially signed (just agreed to), but with his presser at 4:30 today, expect all those other shoes (Kelce? Kendricks? Sproles?) to drop before then.
  • Torrey Smith's deal is only $500k guaranteed, from what I've seen (and year 2 and 3 are options, so it's just a 1-year deal, right now.) If he comes to camp and stinks it up, the Eagles have a reasonable out.
  • All these 1-year deals are smart in that they prevent long-term hits to the cap if the player doesn't perform and it also pushes the cap impacts of a long-term deal out an extra year, when the cap will be continually increasing. Of course, the risk is they sign somewhere else after 1 year (if they don't get tagged.)
  • Joe Mixon on the Eagles won't happen. RB is too deep in this draft for them to take on that circus.
  • Speaking of RB depth, because of that I don't see them taking a RB in the first round unless Fournette drops to them. I would bet they have a couple of the top CB's that should be there at 14 rated overall better than Cook. And if they go into the draft with no CB's, as they sit today, they can't risk waiting on a top-tier CB at the expense of a RB (pass-rusher, though, I could.) I would guess they think they can get another Westbrook or McCoy type of pick in the 2nd or 3rd.

If that's the case, the only rationale explanation is that we're under the cap.  This is why I made that comment a week or so ago about the Saints supposedly being over the cap but still signed Byrd to the highest deal ever for a DB.  You just never know when it comes to the cap it seems

Some highlights from todays presser:

Roseman said he'll have to monitor cap situation in terms of corresponding moves from this point forward. Clearly, they must be tight.

Roseman says the #Eagles would be comfortable going with young corners in 2017. Mentions 2004 with Lito and Sheldon.

Roseman says Chance Warmack had better offers on the tackle, but wanted to be with the #Eagles

Roseman says these signings are consistent with message of building through draft. Targeting players in their 20s they'd want to re-sign.

Roseman said not a given Kelce will be cut. Said he likes depth on OL. Cites that team had to use 5 different right tackles last yr

Roseman said says Alshon Jeffery can help DGB and Torrey Smith can help Nelson Agholor.

Roseman: "We feel confident with Alshon... "this is a place he will want to be" after the 1 year.

Roseman mentions options with one-year deals. Says tags and first chance to extend. Says they get Alshon Jeffery ready to prove himself.

I'm going to say Mixon is a 50-50 for us.  If hes picked late I don't see it being a Vick like circus

As far as the RB goes, I'm going to include the below from @Deamon from Howie's presser.

Roseman said not a given Kelce will be cut. Said he likes depth on OL. Cites that team had to use 5 different right tackles last yr

IF this is true and we are keeping these OL, I think it leads to us taking a RB early if one of the top 2 are there.  This entire calendar year has been about Wentz.  From the coaches, to the WR's signings yesterday, to them keeping OL.  We really don't have a RB...Mattews is cut as soon as he passes a physical and Sproles is retiring after this season.  I like Smallwood but that's all we'd have.  If this is still all about Wentz, a RB is getting picked in the first 2 rounds and if Cook or Fournette are there it very well may be as early as 14.

I would love that.  I really think Jeffery will stay longer than a year so this offense will be together for a few good years

All the signs point toward them just giving Wentz everything.  I don't know but the more I think about it, the more obvious its seeming. I liked Cook more before his combine and would have to see what he does at his pro-day to see if he improves anywhere but his tape is legit. 2017 could be:

Wentz

Cook or Fournette/ Sproles/ Smallwood

Jeffery

Smith

Matthews

Ertz

That looks pretty damn nice to me lol.  Removing Sproles would put the average age around what? 24-25?

I have a feeling we are trading down this year in the 1st unless a CB we are in love with and is expected to be a top 10 pick slips to us at 14.

The return from moving down from 14 to say 20 could be huge.  And Cook might be there at 20, or at least a top tier CB will likely be.

And I'm someone who never agrees with or feels them trading down but I do this year

Just looked at overthecap.com and the Eagles are $12 million under the cap, but Jeffries and Womack are not on their yet (Smith is). Barwin is not on there. It looks like the Eagles will have to cut or restructure someone to get under the cap for Jeffries.

Makes more sense now:

Alshon Jeffery's deal w/ Philly: $7.75m signing bonus, $1m base (gtd), $750k workout and $4.5m in incentives for yds, catches, Pro Bowl, etc

I actually said this to my son yesterday. "The last time we had a receiver at Jeffery's HoF caliber we went to the Superbowl."

I know its way, way early but it's the truth.

FYP. Hey oh let's not get too crazy. Owens is a HoF'er and top 5, maybe 3 all-time. Jeffrey isn't close to being that good.

Alshon Jeffery's one-year contract with the Eagles contains $4.5 million in incentives.

Reported as a $14 million pact, the deal is really for $9.5 million with the $4.5 million in incentives, which involve anything from playing time to team wins. It is a shockingly poor deal for a player who was considering the best receiver on the market, although it now appears clear NFL teams did not feel the same way. The good news is Jeffery should be motivated to stay in shape and healthy so he can take another run at free agency next spring.

More on Jeffery's contract:

Alshon Jeffery's deal with #Eagles is 1 year, $9.5 million with another $4.5M available in a variety of individual and team incentives.

Jeffery got $7.75M signing bonus, $1M salary, $750K workout bonus. Eight different incentives including yards, TD, Pro Bowl, active 16 games

Basically a one year deal for 9.5 million with 4.5 in incentives. That Roseman guy is pretty good at the monies

What are you guys going to complain about when your receivers actually catch the ball this year? Oh yeah, there are still the refs.  ;)

i don't know man, i really hope they go another direction. Unless Chip is the sole reason why Mathews and Agholar have not panned out, despite being such high picks. I just have a hard time thinking the Eagles will turn that around and all of a sudden be able to draft correctly, as well as groom a young WR. I am glad they decided to just invest in established guys cause for whatever reason they have not had much luck in that department, and i have to think it isn't all just bad luck

Matthews isn't bad.  He isn't worthy as the sole remaining Eagles WR of that (supposed) historic WR class of 2014 (Let's trade Marcus Smith, Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff for Jason Verrett, Jarvis Landry and Donte Moncrief please).

Got to hope that Agholar kind of fell victim to the idea that WRs didn't need any time to develop in the NFL anymore and will understand the game better in his third year. I keep going back to Ray Didinger who was completely fine with Agholar and said he might have been the most NFL ready WR (aside from Amari Cooper) in that draft.

They went out and got Howie a bunch of "football guys" with pretty decent track records so I don't know what else we can do. This is a very important draft for us regardless and we have to get decent players from it. We're due for a great draft.....I hope.

i'm there with you with Agholar, i am totally pulling for the guy. For all i have heard about him he really seems like a good guy who really is dedicated.

i have been thinking the whole time about the Lito and Sheldon thing, but i don't know that they can repeat that. and this is a little different, they literally don't have a CB1 or CB2 so that is a lot of pressure on rookies, and it also doesn't set up well if they don't pan out right away

i also read that Cowboys signed Nolan Carroll. i won't sweat going up against him too much.

heard an interesting trade idea yesterday. Total b.s. i am sure, but trade Ertz for Roby (CB, Denver). for me, i would do that in a heartbeat. not sure what Ertz's role is with the team with legit WRs and legit depth at WR. Denver has an overabundance of CBs, could be interesting

Doubt that happens.  I don't love ertz, but I wouldn't do that

Doubt that they love Toby as their Nickel CB and spot starter for their top two.

I've got a couple 2016 game highlights. The Bears game was the game that Jeffery's said he knew Wentz was something special. The reason he chose us over other teams in free agency. The other game is the Steelers game where we go 3 - 0 on the season. After watching I hope we keep J. Mathews for another season. I'm curious how he will play when the pressure of being the guy is off. Same could be said for Nelson. Let Ertz, Smith and Jeffery be the guys but let DGB, Mathews and Nelson just play within their ability.
