Cowboys fan here. Sean Lee being out is the biggest issue we have. Not Zeke or even Tyrone Smith (as bad as Chaz Green played this week).

No doubt you guys caught us at a good time, but there's no excuses in the NFL. Injuries & suspensions are a part of the game.

Doesn't look good for us, but if Tyrone is able play, it'll make a huge difference. There's a decent chance you guys will have a difficult time with our running game even without Zeke. You also have some issues in the secondary so getting yards in the air will mostly depend on our pass pro.

On the other side of the ball, Lee seems to be our whole run defense. If I was DC, I'd key the run. Sounds counterintuitive, but we're going to have to hope our pass rush can get to Wentz & cause havoc. We have a couple of nasty pass-rushers so we need to take advantage of Peters being out. Vaitai is going to have a difficult time with DeMarcus Lawrence & David Irving is a handful inside.

Being at home will help, but we're certainly a fairly big underdog as things stand right now.
Every Eagle fan has been in the same spot you guys are now. Countless times the Eagles played the Cowboys with keys injuries. Even this year we are missing our starting RB, LT, MLB and CB.

Currently the Eagles are #1 in rush defense. Even with Zeke I wasn't concerned.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?seasonType=REG&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=1&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=RUSHING_YARDS&tabSeq=2&season=2017&role=OPP&Submit=Go&archive=false&conference=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=RUSHING&qualified=false

But hey it's the NFC East so anything can happen. This is no gimme for the Eagles.

Personally I think the Cowboys are in for a huge awakening.

Not trying to be confrontational, but have you see how well the run defense has played this year?  I'm not sure why anyone would predict that they would have a difficult time, especially without Zeke.  Not impossible of course, just don't know why you would perceive they're being a decent chance of it.
I figured in your run defense, but you're also going up against the best OL in the league when healthy. And arguably the best OL by far.

Denver shut us down, but that was while Green was starting at LG. One weak link can make a big difference. Jonathan Cooper is now manning LG & he's been a revelation. Once considered a bust, Cooper was a fantastic offseason addition for us.

Obviously, Zeke is a huge loss, but Morris is decent. As good as our OL is playing when healthy, I'd feel extra confident about controlling the LOS & even gashing your run D at times if Zeke was in there. He's not, though, & that's where we're at. I'm not sure what's going to happen with our running game. A lot of it depends on Tyrone's availability & if he's fully healthy.

If you mean we could get hammered without 3 of the best players in the NFL, yes. Definitely could happen. It is what it is. You play with who you have. Not going to use it as an excuse & I hope other Cowboys fans don't use it as an excuse.

Not having Lee & Zeke makes it an uphill battle we're likely to lose. Lee is especially critical for us. We have a lot of potential on D, but we need at least another offseason to fix some issues. With our offense, it's going to be very difficult for teams to beat us when we upgrade our D a bit.

If Tyrone plays, we have a chance if we can make make some big plays. Doesn't look good, though.

BTW, I said decent chance because I really don't know. Morris is obviously a fairly big downgrade & we don't know if we'll have Tyrone or if he'll be 100%.

Seattle and Dallas too hurt to be a serious threat any more. Minny without the right mix of weapons (Keenum? McKinnon? REALLY?) Rams look great but very little veteran leadership and virtually no playoff experience to be found on that team.

Saints are clearly the biggest threat. I would hope for Saints to have to play a wildcard game, then travel to the Rams.
I don't know about others but I really like McKinnon as a change of pace guy with pass catching skills from the backfield. He's no Cook or AP but he's definitely a guy who I think if Pederson, BB, Payton, McVay etc got their hands on could become a dangerous player if used correctly.

I don't know about catching you at the right time. True, Zeke is a loss, but you also have lost your left tackle and your best linebacker. We happen to have lost our All-Pro left tackle and our best linebacker as well. So neither of us are at full strength. And I don't feel bad for the Cowboys for not having Elliott. The whole organization and Zeke himself handle that so unintelligently.  They should have learned from The Brady situation. Zeke was going to serve that suspension. It was just up to him how long he wanted to put it off with all his appeals and other BS. Jerry Jones once again thought he was bigger than the league and now he's having his ### burned by it. He should have sat the first six games and gotten ready for the playoff run. So we'll just say that neither team are at full strength right now, and let's see who the better team is. You do have the home field advantage.

yeah, Cowboys could have all 3 healthy and i think the result would be the same. much closer, but coming off a bye i like the Eagles chances either way. to be honest i was hoping they would beat up the Falcons, i think they are a little more feisty coming off that game

in other news, sounds like DeFellipo is getting a lot of interest as a head coach candidate  :( . i'm sure the Eagles have prepped for this, but hate to see Carson lose his guy

Yeah, teams are rarely at full strength. That's one reason I say there are no excuses.

That said, the reality is we might be missing 3 of the best players in the NFL. Two of those players are at critical positions & the other is one of the best RBs in the league. With our OL & Zeke running behind it, it's very difficult for Ds to get off the field. I don't care how good your run defense is.

Bottom line, we're at a severe handicap. I'd say to the point it's a lost cause if Tyrone is out. Peters is out, but it looks like you guys have a much better backup than we do & that's our problem.

The bye week isn't a big concern for me. It's a factor, but what we do (at least on offense), there's not much you can do. There's much more scheming to be done against passing teams.

You guys have a very good D, but there's only so much scheming you can do against a generationally good OL & an outstanding RB. It's like not being able to stop a bully.

Obviously, I don't feel nearly as confident without Zeke & possibly no Tyrone or him being limited.

out of curiosity, why do you think Zeke only had 8 yards against Denver earlier this year? serious question, i have only got bits of Cowboys games, but the little i saw i didn't see the same Zeke as last year

I mentioned it earlier, but Green was getting blown up at LG.

Cooper has made a big difference.

I would gladly give dallas Smith and Lee if we could have Peters and Hicks.  That is basically injuries to great players that cancel each other out. And again, Dallas and Elliott can just blame themselves that they are missing a week 11 game. Pure stupidity.

This is the second time that you’ve seemed to discredit Zeke’s contributions. You’re citing the Denver blowout loss where he did nothing but what about every other game this year?  No offense but if you consider him on the same level as Morris/McFadden, then you essentially deem all RBs interchangeable .

:lmao:  i'm not sure why you are hung up on this. I have stated i think almost every time it isn't like i am watching most of the Cowboys games. the 2-3 i saw were likely in the beginning of the season, and maybe he looks much different now. And i do think A-Mo is a bit under-rated. he has looked good in Dallas when he gets a chance, except for this past weekend where to be honest i think any objective observer would tell you that Zeke would not have faired much better (maybe stop 2 of those sacks, but it isn't like the RBs were the issue).

and i'll take a healthy Cox and Timmy against the interior OL of most teams anyday

I don't think you want to do that.

Believe me, you guys have a much better chance without Lee, much less Lee & Smith. You guys have an advantage at backup LT & Lee is not only the key to our run defense, he's essentially our WHOLE run D (to our detriment)

I'd absolutely love to have Lee/Smith vs Peters/Hicks (with all due respect to your players).

Yea - I mean, I would rather both team played at full strength for a legit game.  But having Vatai playing solid, with that experience having to start last year should be huge, as well as Kendricks playing big time without Hicks.  I don't think the Eagles play a ton of 3 LB packages, so swapping Kendricks for Hicks hurts our depth, but not a lot our main defense.

I know this sounds over confident but I don't think this game with Dallas will be close and if it is I'm going to be pissed

For a guy who is saying injuries are no excuse, you seem to really be trying to drill it home over and over and over and over in here to everyone that the injuries are putting you at a huge disadvantage.  If you're "not making that excuse" then stop making that excuse.  Talk about being passive aggressive.

The fact that you came in here saying that we should have a problem vs the run is pretty backwards as others have pointed out.  You discredit our run D by saying how much of a loss Zeke is, but yet Morris will still cause issues for the league's best Run D?

Peters was crucial, and Hicks was maybe the most important defender on one of the top defenses in the league.  Don't act like you are so much worse off without your two guys.

I think the game will be close, but the amount you're exaggerating your "disadvantage with injuries" is absolute ridiculous.

Eagles 28-24.  (we are also only 3 point Vegas favourites despite your claim of Dallas being "fairly big underdogs")

The Eagles were the better team before Dallas got hit with the injuries.  And the Eagles were already short-handed with their own injury issues.

I think the Eagles score 30+, and Dallas won't reach 20.

Yeah, I knew somebody would likely take offense in an Eagles thread. :) Not my intention, though.

For the record, I didn't say Morris would cause issues. I said there's a decent chance you guys will have a difficult time with our running game even without Zeke. Define decent chance, though. It typically means something far from a sure thing. And that's if Tyrone plays & is 100%.

Indeed, there are no excuses, but that doesn't mean we can't look at reality. You don't think we're at a clear disadvantage with injuries in this game? Come on, LOL. I've already said we can't use it as an excuse & it's our problem, but it IS reality.

In fact, if you guys had similar injury issues this week & we had the upper hand in that regard, I'd say tough titty. It is what it is. That's reality.

Lots of question marks in this one, some because of injury. I'm just talking football.

I believe we're a fairly big underdog even WITH Tyrone.

That's how much Lee means to us (right or wrong).

FWIW, I think Jones is being (mostly) reasonable here. That Dallas D is never the same when Lee is out. It's pretty odd, but I could swear they average at least 6 more points against when he doesn't play. But he gets hurt an awful lot...maybe the Cowboys should have developed a backup plan by now?

Where he's over-selling is that ALL teams lose important players. Teams with depth move on, teams without depth crumble. If your backup tackle is a turnstile, that's a pretty poor excuse. I think the real problem is Garrett.

The Vegas line is only 3. If you think Dallas is a massive Underdog, you should be putting tons of money on Philly

every team has injuries and honestly the cowboys should be used to not having lee out there by now.  guy gets hurt getting out of bed.

im gonna do you a favor and save you some time for the next 7 weeks.

eagles beat Dallas this week. easily.

then Dallas struggles to go 3-3, at best, and finishes 8-8 and out of playoffs.

enjoy your off season.

happy holidays

Eagles are missing their starting LT, MLB, best RB (before Ajayi) and PK.  Were also missing their top CB all season until this week.  Big difference is they have depth or made moves, and the next man up has payed well.  That's what makes a better team.  So yeah, no excuses and really not worth bringing up.

If Tyrone is out, I think that's a near lock.

That said, I don't think i could do it on principle, alone.
Plus, you don't really believe the narrative that you're trying to sell that Dallas is heavy under dogs.  They are the home team in a division rivalry game.  Philly needed a 61 yard field goal to beat the Giants. In Philly.  NFC East games are always close. And 2017 isn't 2016 Zeke anyway. It's not quite the loss you're making it out to be. He has struggled against good defenses this year.  Feasts on bad ones.

Early prediction. Stays close first half. Eagles pull away 3rd quarter. Dallas gets some garbage time at the end.

38-20 Eagles

Look, the one guy we don't seem to be talking about here is Dak. If Smith plays, or if Garrett gets his head out of butt and actually gives help to his back-up LT, and Dak gets some time to throw, that will make a huge difference in the game. People have been downplaying Dak's abilities due to the talent he has had around him, but he has done everything he has been asked to do. Now that Elliot is out, he will have to do more. If they can give them some time, I think he will give the Eagles some problems.

That said, on the coaching side, Pederson>>>>>Garrett. Last season the Eagles went in there and took it to the Cowboys and should have won. Pederson had some rookie coaching mistakes at the end which cost the Eagles the game. And the Eagles didn't have the talent or the cohesion that they have this year.

Eagles 31-20

The injury situation isn't close, but I stand by the no excuse mantra.

I've never seen a bunch who are so stubborn about taking a compliment. Jesus. LOL.

With Lee, Tyrone, & Zeke (in that order), I'd feel pretty confident.

That said, we won't have Lee & Zeke & may not have Tyrone.

Not confident at all now. In fact, just the opposite.

As I mentioned earlier, we should have better backups (especially at Will & OLT).

And with Peters, Hicks, and Sproles, I'd feel exactly same as I feel right now. Like Philly will win by a touchdown.   Not sure why you keep trying to push the injury narrative. Peters and Hicks are also among the top of the league at their position. You are laying the groundwork for an excuse if you guys lose at home. It's lame, weak and terribly pathetic.

Just stick with this. Your no excuses but here are my excuses Schtick is getting old.
Unbelievable.

LOL
Do you have anything else to add, or do you want to keep telling how much of a disadvantage the Cowboys are at this week while saying its no excuse?  Wasn't this a 5-3 team even WITH all of those guys?  The Eagles lost a bunch of starters this too.  Let's just see how the rest of the year plays out, shall we?

But, but, but....we aren't at 100%  It's so lame.      The reason the Cowboys had a nice year in 2016 was because their 'star' QB went down with a broken vertebrae. Prescott stepped in and they were a better team.  Injuries happen. Eagles have lost four starters this year (Darby, Sproles, Peters, Hicks). All Pro Bowl level players.  They are sitting at 8-1.

Cowboys lost their LT and MLB.

Eagles lost their LT and MLB.

Cowboys' players are better, but in terms of importance to the unit, Peters and Hicks do it a lot.  So how is it "not close" again on the injuries?

Some of you guys just don't allow anybody to come in here & talk football.

I made my first post about how I was concerned about our injury issues & I immediately get the insecurities from some people (not all).

I'm really worried this could be a blowout without Lee. No Tyrone & Zeke are going to make it really difficult to near impossible.

RELAAAX. Take it as a compliment. I think you guys have a very good team this season.

Unbelievable.

LOL
Why is it unbelievable? You come into the Eagles thread basically saying the Eagles couldn't handle the Cowboys if they were at full strength. Maybe not your intention, but that is how you are coming across. And maybe the Eagles couldn't handle the Cowboys offense at full strength, but we won't know because they are not. Just understand that this Eagles team has been pretty special the first 9 games of the season. They have a bunch of really good guys who are easy to like, they get along with each other, and their coach is getting the most out of each and every player. And he really is. Every guy who comes off the bench seems to make a contribution. Mack Hollins is one of my favorite players. Have you even heard of Mack Hollins? Maybe, but probably not. And the Eagles fans on this board are about as united as I have ever seen. Which has been a lot of fun I think for all of us. So if we seem sensitive when you come in here and continually repost the same no excuses but Elliot, Smith, Lee, blah, blah, blah.... we really don't want to hear about what could have been. We have lived in a world of what could have beens.

I think you are a reasonable Cowboy fan, and appreciate you posting here. But there is an art to posting in other teams forums without pissing everyone off. I don't think you have learned that yet.

I didn't say the Eagles couldn't handle the Cowboys. I said I'd feel confident if we had those 3 players.

I haven't said one negative thing about the Eagles.

I wanted to talk football, but it seems to be very hard in here. Maybe it's just par for the course in the opposing teams' thread. I dunno, LOL.

BTW, I certainly DO know who Hollins is.

It's not necessarily what you said, but the way you were saying it. Not a big deal. Let's talk about the game.

With Lee out, how do you see the Cowboys being able to stop the Eagles running game? Also, how well has Dallas defended against tight ends? I think Ertz could be very effective since the Eagles will want to get the ball out pretty quick to negate the Cowboys pass rush.

We don't have the personnel to stop it without Lee at Will. Going to have to scheme the run & hope our pass rush can get to Wentz.

Not sure how Marinelli will defend Ertz, but I'd double him & take our chances with your WRs. Ertz is Wentz' security blanket & I want to see how he handles Ertz being blanketed the entire game (if we can do that).

We don't have the personnel to stop it without Lee at Will. Going to have to scheme the run & hope our pass rush can get to Wentz.

Fair enough. Wentz has been very good at spreading the ball around to WR's, RB's and other TE's. I think that is probably Dallas' best approach but think Wentz will be able to take what's given to him. My main concern is Wentz getting the ball out quick, and giving Vitai help early if he needs it. Sack/Fumbles could definitely turn the game in Dallas' favor.

My main concern this week is Dak's scrambling.  Eagles get good pressure, but I'm not sure we're going to be able to contain Dak if he scrambles around to avoid the rush - Cam lit us up there, and I'm not sure we can count on Dak throwing it up for grabs periodically like Cam did..
