2018 - lost to Brazil 2-0 - Brazil favored

2014 - lost to Netherlands 2-1 (on a 94th minute pen) - Mexico finished 2nd in their group, Dutch were presumably favored

2010 - lost 3-1 to Argentina - again as a 2nd place group finisher (actually won group tiebreaker over South Africa) - Argentina favored

2006 - lost 2-1 to Argentina (in extra time) - 2nd place in group

2002 - Lost Dos a Cero to United States - Mexico won their group, would have been favored

1998 - lost 2-1 to Germany - Mexico finished 2nd in group

1994 - lost 2-1 to Bulgaria (on pens) - Mexico topped their group when all 4 teams finished on 4 points, 0 goal differential - Mexico had most goals scored.  No recollection of Bulgaria, and how good they might have been. They did lose to Italy in the semi-finals.
