***Official 2020 Michigan Football*** (2 Viewers)

Going beyond the obvious rivalry, looking at it as the first round of a 16 team playoff. Get past this giant roadblock and it is on to the round of 8 and Northwestern.

Michigan just got their butts kicked today..and the always classy Meyer still throwing late in the game in a rout.

Sorry big blue but even in their worst season, the buckeyes dominate you.

I was so looking forward to bama kicking their arses in the playoffs too.

Now ... Two SEC teams?

I picture you saying this while patting Jim on the back.

Is there really no outrage in the FBGUM universe?  Seems like some exists outside these walls.
Why would there be outrage?  If this continues, the next couple years and things don't change then yeah.  I'm not sure people really understand what happened with Rich Rod and then Brady Hoke personnel wise.  It was pretty clear Jim was going to need every bit of 4-5 years to get talent back on this team.  The offensive trenches and lack of a QB were obvious issues.  They both seem to be turning around and I don't think that happening and them being a legit consideration for the playoff happening were a coincidence.  They need more speed at the corner position as well as LB position.

The frustrating part about today was Jim's unwillingness to throw the ball way more.  It was clear the OSU defensive backfield couldn't cover Collins.

ETA:  And none of that is excuses....or meant to be.  I've been saying this since Jim took over.

I'm not saying call for his head just yet, maybe that's what you thought I meant by "outrage".  I'd be pretty pissed off right now though because I'd say things have changed in 4 years (for the better for you guys).  So coming into the game as the favorite with few expecting OSU to score much offensively, to get pretty much dominated, has to be very frustrating.

This narrative went out the window last week (at least for me) when I saw the problems Indiana gave the Michigan defense.  Expectations in this rivalry are a fool's folly IMO.  Anything can happen in this game.  I thought they had a chance, but I wasn't confident they were going to win.  Given the world we live in and the issues, I find it hard to get worked up about a football game.  I've never really understood those that do.  I also don't understand why the hell Dan Brown didn't dial up consistent pressure throughout the day.  At least try to get Haskins off his mark....that was key to their success as best I could tell.

Maybe I'm missing something not being as local as I used to but this seemed more like a whoa is me buckeye and national sorta thing. No one I know was puffing their chest out about this game. The weaknesses were known as well as the untapped talent on your team. I didnt expect it to go that badly, but with Bush getting knocked out just moments away from the blocked punt the floodgates felt like they were opened up and. Well...

I was on here a couple of weeks ago and wrote that I was convinced Michigan was going to destroy us this year.

I do not know what happened to us or you all today? Did we suddenly learn to play defense or did Michigan not exploit our defense like every other team in the conference?

Was Michigan’s defense not as good as advertised or did we just get it all together today?

Not trying to rub it in but I was completely shocked at today’s results. I was certain that the streak ended today.

Good luck in the bowl game!

this seems weak beef.

Honestly didn’t mean it to be a gloating comment. OSU had not shown themselves to be very good in the previous few games accept for Michigan State and it looked like you guys were clicking pretty good. Sorry you took it that way but was just coming back by because of the comment from a while back.
I'm an OSU guy.  It was not at all gloating, and I'm not one to gloat either.

But let's not go here.  :)

ETA:  Doc ...muther####in' Doc!!!  @Doctor Detroit

Winovich wasn't effective. Probably injury related. Gary wasnt effective prior, but he was hobbled too. But the floodgates didnt really open until the Bush injury. I dont remember if it was the drive before or after the blocked punt, but it was around that time. Before the Bush injury? Speed kills. Indiana laid the blue print last week then Ohio applied it to their many more pieces. Apply pressure or we are going to isolate those mismatches and stay away from Bush.

On offense Malik Harrison played his best game. Good luck convincing me other wise. The back 7 is littered with holes, so pick your poison. With our strength up frojtnitnwas attack the linebackers. It didnt work because of him and we took too long to adjust. Part of it was game script related, but when outside of our comfort zone and attacking the secondary we had success. But I think one of the reasons we resisted is the pass protection wasnt holding up. Which wasnt a big surprise given the personnelnom both lines.

Tl;dr - your talent actually showed up and you won the battle on both LoS.

I agree on Harrison, by far his best game that I can remember!

Yeah you guys found a weakness and kept exploiting it and we couldn’t counter (crossing routes, picking on Watson, RB’s running routes to the outside).  I’ve noticed Urb is good at finding what works and just going to it over and over and over (few years ago seemed like he ran the Zeke/JT delay handoff option every play)

our offense also completely lacked creativity.  On paper we should have been able to run all day but once it was obvious it wasn’t working and we were in 2nd and 3rd and longs they should tried to open things up

just a complete embarrassment in all phases

My daughter barely ever watches football, and sometime in the 2nd quarter, she asked why they kept just running the ball into the middle of the line every time on 1st down because "it never works". And kept asking throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

I couldn't come up with an answer for her.

It's been the plan all season. Wear them down then start popping big plays in the second half. Slow starts with this strategy have been common all season. And it clearly didnt work yesterday. There was no 3rd quarter push at the line of scrimmage yesterday.

It worked all season ...but not on Saturday, and Michigan just didn't adapt.  Shame on them.

I was surprised how badly Michigan got beaten on the LoS in both directions.  Michigan put no pressure on the QB and couldn't protect their own.  I wonder how much of it was lingering issues to guys like Gary and Winovich (and then the in-game loss of Bush).
