That was weird, but pretty fun. Also that doesn't cost anything to make. An iphone, imovie app and some fake blood/halloween makeup. The most expensive part was probably going to buy the college tshirts. 

 
Needless to say the switch to Nike was a big hit. The midnight block party in AA with Harbaugh, Desmond, hoops team, etc. looked insane. What a massive crowd. The merchandise looks great too. It's a good thing the MDen website crashed last night because lord knows how much cash I might have dropped.

Also interesting news that the #1 2017  prospect in the nation, RB Najee Harris has decided to visit Michigan. He has committed to Bama, but maybe there is a chance.

Grad school buddy of mine still lives there and is paying the price this AM for being in the frey last night.  I got probably 15 different "I'm to old for this ####" texts with some pics....needless to say, I was in bed snoozing it up and didn't see them til this AM :kicksrock:

Yeah I was just watching on Twitter. It was very cool but no interest at all being there. 

 
It's almost time....what are your expectations for this year's team?  For me, competing for the B1G east in a legit fashion and no lapses in the "should win" games.  I have a feeling the defense is going to be pretty good and I expect the QB play to improve drastically this year and next.

I think they have 9 games that they should win and 3 toss ups. From likeliest to unlikeliest winning - at Iowa,  at MSU,  at OSU. I would guess 10-2 or 11-1. 

Defense should be fantastic. OL is a question as is QB. But for QB - they have Harbaugh. He has a great track record with qbs.

According to a report in 247Sports, Solomon was offended that Michigan sent him a thank-you note for attending the BBQ at the Big House, though he did not attend.

"A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan BBQ, but we never went," Solomon told 247Sports. "I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me."

Solomon is ranked the No. 8 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 129 player overall in the 2017 class by Scout.com. He is still being recruited by Georgia, Alabama, Clemson and Florida, among others.

:lmao:   So stupid....read this yesterday.  I wasn't sold on his "commitment" given that he hadn't talked to his mother, but this made the decision easier for sure.

They lose to Ohio State, Michigan State and Iowa...all on the road.  They lose to Wisconsin at home.

Indiana between OSU and Iowa is a trap game.  Penn State on the road and their first road game @ Rutgers round out the questionable games.

I'm relatively pessimistic but even I can't get here.  They lose these games and they are well behind where they appear and Harbaugh will need the full 5 years to get things "right".

If it makes you feel better I'm rarely right with my predictions but someone asked so I gave my opinion. I think they are going to struggle on the road but time will tell.

 
There's no question having all of OSU, MSU and Iowa on the road is problematic.  If they are where I think they are, they should win one of those, if not two.  I don't care where they play PSU and Rutgers....if they can't beat them, they will need the full 5 years to get all Harbaugh's guys in there.  I don't buy the hype of a top 10 team, but I think they will take a big step forward this year.  If not, I'll be disappointed.

Michigan's final ranking was 12 last year.  If you don't buy the hype of a top 10 team, but think they need to take a big step forward I'm not sure what that means.

They need to become much more consistent on offense and begin to dominate on defense.  What that translates to in rankings, I'll leave that to the pundits.  I was talking about their play on the field, not rankings necessarily...probably shouldn't have even brought up the rankings...sorry for the confusion.

The schedule is messed up.  Every other year Michigan can be a real contender.

Assuming they don't get a lot of injuries this is going to be a big year.  The offensive line is where they are going to show the most improvement and that will be the catalyst for everything they do on offense.  If they go 8-4 then the staff should just pack it up.  They will be 7-0 going to EL and they, imo, are going to win that one.  The Iowa game is the one where they will be most tested.  They bring back a lot of seniors including the QB and I can see this being a rematch in the B10 championship game.

Read a quote earlier this month from one of the players (forget which one) saying the big difference between last year and this year was that they KNOW they can run the ball.  Thinking back just 3 years ago, that's a pretty strong statement.  I hope they're confidence is justified.

Incoming Freshman Chris Evans went to the local high school. It was a lot of fun watching him starting as a Sophomore and being a key player on the Class 6A State Champs as a Junior. Great speed (he also won several state championships in track and field) he broke off a lot of long TD runs as an RB and a WR.

From what I saw and have heard about Chris he's a good kid too.

Since Purdue's football program sucks right now I may be a Michigan fan for the next 4 years.

I couldn't seem to locate the gambling thread but can they cover vs Hawaii?  looks like it went from 41 down to 38 overnight

I don't see them scoring much today. Either team. Probably run the ball 50 times and Hawaii won't score much, if at all.

Feels like 37-6 or something

Indy guy here too.  It's obviously a small sample size, but Evans looked like the best RB on the roster today.  The announcers kept talking up how the coaching staff has been raving about him for months as well.

Evans was very impressive ...very patient; very fast.  So they've got this talented young speedster, their returning starter (Smith), and a big bruiser (Ivory) ...and just for fun, they can swing a fast WR on an end around ...and 'hey, why not?' - they can put Peppers in the backfield.   :loco:   Good stuff.

Excellent variety with their play calling today, which is a nice change from recent years, it seems to me.  Defense needs to quit telegraphing their blitzes to some degree, and they need to adjust to a spread offense and those slant passes.  But ...a great start.

Wow! I knew he had a chance to have some success at Michigan but I wasn't expecting his first game to go that well.

I wasn't able to watch today's game but I'll look forward to seeing how Chris progresses the rest of the season.
