*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (1 Viewer)

when/how did that happen? exercise injury or something?
I won't be shocked to see multiple teams with injuries early in camp. Remember this is the first time many guys are playing since January any type of football. Some since Dec. With no Mini Camp and OTA's this is gonna happen more often IMHO

Eliot Shorr-Parks, who is trying to be the poor man's Howard Eskin (not to be confused with Joe Giglio, who is trying to be the poorer man's Eliot Shorr-Parks), has been super on-brand this week:

@EliotShorrParks
I could maybe score a touchdown. I could luck into a home run. I could probably get two points in an NBA game.

I could play hundreds of games of hockey and never, ever score a goal. It looks impossible.

"Luck into a homerun" caught him the most flack in the Twitterverse, but I'm sure he 100% believes it to be true. He tried to justify his credentials by once again pulling out his Al Bundy greatest moment of being a "2x winner of the Eagles beat writers FG competition."

Then this morning he jumped right into the hot take lava with this:

@EliotShorrParks
It was only one practice, but I've already seen enough.

The #Eagles need to move Jalen Hurts into the top backup quarterback spot.
Stay you, ESP

I stopped following and listening to him a while back. He’s the very definition of someone who is just trying to get clicks or noticed by saying outlandish things.

And when you see him in person it makes his take about kicking into a HR even more hilarious

The Eagles could use depth behind 2019 rookie sensation Miles Sanders, and Devonta Freeman could use a roster spot to replenish his market value. Doug Pederson's offense would offer the two-time Pro Bowler a soft landing spot to try and recapture his dual-threat skill set that has been limited by injuries and inefficiencies over the past three seasons. The former Falcon says he's looking for a team that's hungry and believes in him as much as he believes in himself, which suggests he'd be open to competing if it's the right situation. Sanders has the Eagles' RB1 job locked up, but Freeman could potentially earn snaps away from backups Boston Scott and Corey Clement. Best case: A healthy Freeman makes the most of seven-to-10 touches per game, providing the Eagles with productivity from the backfield while Sanders catches his breath. Worst case: The Eagles waste a few million dollars (they have the cap space) on a short-term, low-cost move.

Just don't with that guy. Like Eskin and Missanelli, he's a troll looking to get a rise out of people. I'd be very happy if he was never mentioned/quoted in this thread again.

Eskin is far better than either of those 2. I only ever see one reporter on the sidelines for the duration of the games hours before and after and it’s Eskin. He definitely puts the work in and has reliable sources.

Have never seen Mikey Miss at a game in 5 years.

INJURY REPORT:

Dallas Goedert (upper body) day to day
Sidney Jones (lower body) day to day
Boston Scott (lower body) day to day
Miles Sanders (lower body) week to week
Fletcher Cox planned maintenance day
Word spread pretty quickly this is just precautionary and he'll be fine for the season opener. We might be seeing a combination of the unusual off-season and the overhaul of the medical staff, with how they are handling these Sanders, Barnett, Hargrave, etc. situations.

He was decent with NJ.com but since joining WIP he's gone for the hot takes they love instead of being a journalist. I met him randomly at my local Manhattan Bagel maybe 5-6 yrs ago. Don't remember why he was in the area (Maybe hanging out with Tim McManus who lives 10 mins from me went golfing) but he seemed nice and was pretty friendly. Didn't really get the feel he was big in to this schtick he is on now. Must be a WIP thing

Was coming in here to mention maybe Signing Freeman might be better idea now then it was before

Eskin is the Sideline reporter for the radio broadcast but Eskin is way more reliable and not horrible like Mikey Miss who tries to be Eskin when he's not. If Eskin was still doing afternoons Mikey boy wouldn't be around. Mike is a clown. He's the guy who made the tweet about Victor Cruz hurting his ACL on the MNF game and when called out tried to backtrack it. NY Daily News had some fun with that at Mike's expense. A friend of mine wrote for a defunct blog and Mike was writing for the Inky. He was talking about Jimmy Rollins contract extension. My Buddy nicely told him he had a few numbers  wrong on details as he checked with COTS (Who does baseball contract website of amount, bonus $$$ options etc even has manager contracts). Mikey got all Pissy with him. So my buddy also called him out on saying Hamels agent Casey Close had talked to him. Casey ended up talking to my buddy for an interview on Hamels extension and said the last person I'd give any breaking news to is a that Two faced Jack### MotherFer (Referring to Mikey Miss). I never told him anything and if I did say anything to anyone it'd have been to WIP to Eskin or someone. After awhile Mike probably typing drunk spewed some homophoic and racial endueendos (SP) at my friend. He sent me the emails from their back and fourth. He sent the emails to Mike's work who basically blew my buddy off. Tony Bruno also had some stuff on Mike too he went after when he defended Josh Innes after Innes was let go.

Overall Talk sports radio here is so bad I'd take Howard back in a heartbeat. The only time it's tolerable is when Big Daddy Graham was on or someone like Diddy or they get Jayson Stark or a writer on.

Not Eagles related in a sense other then it involved Andy's Chiefs. KC announced today changes to game day policies. Chiefs seem to be mulling over changes to Native American culture. Want to involve the Drum still and still have their Heritage KC gameday. The ironic part is Their Game day appreciation is called American Indian Appreciate Game for KC Tribes and the NFL.com article makes Mention of American Indians. Indians is the incorrect term. Columbus used the term as he thought he landed in India which he didn't. The Historical correct term is Native Americans. But besides the point KC has said headdress of Native Americans won't be allowed. Facepaint will be allowed but if it depicts any native culture the fans will be asked to take it off before entering the game. The War chant is also under discussions further. The Chiefs want to persevere the historical stuff of Native American Tribes in the KC area and already do a lot for it. I believe they work similar as FSU does with the Florida Seminole Tribes. My Friend who went to FSU all students take mandatory Native American History classes (Agreed to by the University as part of the tribes settlement to use name culture references etc). A seminole has also trained the Mascot Seminole Manners for correct depictions for gameday and the Costume is Seminole Approved and made by the tribe to fit the student representing the mascot. The student must also have a 3.0 GPA or higher and come off as Being Excellent.

All these things are very good for moving forward. I'm glad KC isn't rushing into rash decisions here and they are discussing things with local tribes from suggestions to help community and help people learn about their history to helping make gameday experience good for everyone without taking away the overall experience Arrowhead Stadium brings.

That will go over well with veterans after a couple of days.
Especially after losing the first few games. I don't mind a coach/manager in pro sports coming in and making guys held responsible and accountable for actions like veterans for being idiots or just not playing like they should but these things have to be done carefully. I feel like when Teams/Clubs say they need to change the character of the locker room or discipline of the players it's all talk as the owners/GM don't want to put in the actual work it takes. For example if I'm manager or coach and one of the issues I see coming in is 2 superstar being lazy, late to practice, staying out too late and not giving a good example of leadership they are getting fined, suspended etc. If the owner/GM comes to me and ask what the hell do they think I'm doing the response should be "Well you told me to get the team more discipline and held accountable. Well I've observed when you let your top stars do anything they bloody want without consequences, others are gonna follow them. If you want these guys playing the way they are capable of you get rid of the ring leaders to the bad habits or discipline them and show them for now on we do things differently here."

I think this is one of the spots Chip Kelly got all wrong on treatment towards players. Also if the guys are running laps and stuff under the guidelines of what the NFL and NFLPA put in place then there's no issue here and we can chalk it up as players being lazy and not being want to held accountable. Just want to cash that paycheck

So Earl Thomas got in a fight with his Safety partner Clark at camp on Friday. Baltimore told him to stay home today. Reports are suggesting Bal is figuring out what to do next with Thomas. This is his second altercation in 2 yrs with a teammate as last year during a game he got into a fight with DL Brandon Williams. If Thomas is suspended for Conduct Detrimental the team can release him and save $10M. Theory is if he's let go Dal might want him as he'd have a big price drop and its where he wanted to go anyway. Really glad the Eagles didn't draft this clown.

Goedert Suffered a Fractured thumb. He should be in a splint and back at practice sometime next week. Sounds like from what I've read and heard with no preseason games the team is be extra cautious on any type of injuries with big named players. Plus given no games with these guys out it gives guys on the possible roster bubble more reps to fight for a spot.

In other notable cuts like it was reported Earl Thomas was cut for conduct Detrimental to the Team by BAL yesterday following his altercation on FRI. Early reports aren't suggesting much but If I'm a betting man knowing Earl Thomas Infatuation with Dal he could go there possible on the cheap now.

Eagles resigned CB Trevor Williams who they cut earlier this summer to trim the roster for COVID-19 restrictions. Williams is a former PSU DB and last played with the Chargers.

the stuff i'm reading about Josh Sweat is pumping me up. The whole "if he can stay healthy" thing of course, but like the progress he made from Year 1 --->Year 2.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up in Dallas.  Sucks.

After the stuff I've been hearing about him I'm glad we never drafted him. Seems like an absolute cancer that wouldn't be a fit here. He's a good player but I think a lot of people overrate ET like they do most of SEA's D players.

Without the Injuries Sweat would've been mostly likely mid 1st/early 2nd rounder. At least from what I remember from his scouting report. A few reports I read from knee injuries were a concern and his rookie deal might be his only NFL deal do to wear and tear already

Lot of really good reports about Raegor too
The D-line is also getting a ton of praise from the beats; conversely, the O-line is getting dogged (for both their play and frequent injuries.) Our starting 5 has only had one practice together so far in camp and they ended the day giving up 3 sacks on the last 4 plays. Not a good sign.

My only concern about the season right now is Dillard. Dude seems like he might be a head case. Really hope he pulls it together here and has a good year.

(only as in long term. I'm not expecting a Super Bowl this year, we have to get a lot younger and theres gonna be some pains).

Giants may have an odd HC as well. Making people run laps for dropped passes and missed blocks. Also removed all the names off of their uniforms.
Yep, definitely

Joe Judge says #Giants have thought about taking Daniel Jones’ red jersey off, to “pop his pads a little bit” before the season opener, but aren’t going to “throw him into a ‘royal rumble’ or anything like that. Will be smart about getting him some hits, in absence of preseason.

He’s on my list but not a huge concern right now.

LBers have the potential to be god awful. Similarly our DB’s could still be a mess as well.

I like the faith they have in Dillard at LT and love that he added 20 pounds as well. Really wish we had a pre-season to see these guys but kind of happy (knocks wood) that guys haven’t suffered major injuries

—Doug Pederson on Carson Wentz: "All I know is he's come in stronger, in the right frame of mind. I can tell he's worked on his feet and getting his feet in great position to make strong, accurate throws."

—Doug on Dillard: "Been real impressed with Dillard, and his growth." Mentioned he added strength.

Doug on Mailata: "He's done some good things, has flashed from time to time." Reminds us that football is new to him. (Is it *still* new though?)

—The Eagles have increased Alshon Jeffery’s “on land running” and are “hoping to get him out there soon with the team,” per Doug Pederson.

—Eagles moves:  signed CB Trevor Williams and DT T.Y. McGill.

Waived LB Dante Olson and placed TE Josh Perkins on Reserve/Injured.

Genard Avery went down with a major knee injury. Wasn't having a good camp according to reports anyway, so not a big loss. But pretty much a waste of the 4th round pick we gave up to get him.

What happened to Perkins? Must be serious enough no other team will sign him. They really liked him too

In non Eagles news things got interesting tonight with the Washington Football team and owner MR Snyder. Roger Goodell said the team is investigating the owner now based on new allegations from a former team employee.

Just wanted to reiterate I'm so happy to have MR Lurie as our owner.
