***Official - 2025 Major League Baseball Thread - The Royals Will Win The World Series This Year*** (3 Viewers)

Yeah, the deal freed up like $90M. They’ll give Brito and Manzardo a shot, and then trade Brito to make room for Bazzana, or move on from Rocchio if they need to.

It's a salary dump by Cleveland. Gimenez is a useful player even if he doesn't hit but they gave him a long-term deal based on what looks like a career year.

Hopefully the Guardians will re-invest the future capital instead of the Dolans raking it off the table. They could really use some pitching.
The guardians traded the player they got for Gimenez for 3 pitchers

Pitcher Luis Ortiz is a better fit w/ the Clevelands' needs than Horwitz was.

Brewers trade Devin Williams to NYY for Nestor Cortes , Caleb Durbin and cash

Oh well, so much for my Luke Weaver dynasty shares. We'll always have September.

Both Williams and Cortes are in their final year before free agency. Durbin is a unique prospect; a little guy who doesn't hit the ball hard at all but has been successful at all minor league stops. If he can maintain his BB/K percentages in the majors, he'll be a fan favorite in Milwaukee.

Yankees now have an infield of Volpe at SS, Jazz at either 3B or 2B with Oswaldo Cabrera or Oswald Peraza at the other one, and a platoon of Ben Rice and the ghost of DJ LeMahieu at 1B.

I suspect they won't go into the season like that.

Kyle Tucker to the Cubs for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and Cam Smith.

With the trades of Smith and Braden Montgomery, two of the top fourteen picks of the 2024 draft have already been moved with a total of 134 professional PAs between them. I guess everybody said it was a weak draft class.

This seemingly marks the end of the Astros' championship window--for whom the trash can tolls.

Ishbia brothers in play to make a bid on the Twins. This is huge news for Twins fans if this comes to pass.

They already own the Phoenix Suns. Deep pockets for those guys.

They haven't exactly been doing a bang up job in Phoenix
Their problem in Phoenix is that they've thrown money around too liberally, which is less of a problem in baseball.
I will dare to say anyone would be better than the Pohlads.

Yeah, just because you have money, doesn't mean you're a good owner. Honestly, I wouldn't want anything to do with Mat Ishbia
He was the fan favorite walk-on for the MSU basketball team while I was there. I still feel inclined to root for him, although being worth $10 billion kinda ruins that underdog vibe.

Big spenders in Minnesota would shake up the AL Central which has been the poverty row of divisions for a while (in spite of their 2024 playoff success).

Cody Bellinger and his bad contract (2/$52.5M) didn't have much value on the trade market. In a rare Cody for Cody exchange, the Cubs only get bullpen JAG Cody Poteet in return and still had to send money to the Bronx to make it work.

Belli is overpaid but he's a good fit with the Yankees where he can fill a hole either in the OF or at 1B. The right field porch should help his HR totals.

The Mets have basically swapped Manaea and Severino for Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes. It seems like a lateral move at best but pitchers are unpredictable.

Holmes hasn't started a game since his rookie year but they plan to stretch him out. It could work but if it doesn't, he's still a reliable bullpen arm.

The Bellinger trade drops the Cubs 2025 payroll by 20+ million. They have had their sights set on Luis Castillo and might offer a similar deal that the Yankees offered for Bellinger--a prospect in exchange for taking on the bulk of the contract.

Castillo carries 24 million for the next three years, and then a performance based clause for 25 million in year four.

Saw something yesterday saying that Belli's wife is Stanton's ex girlfriend, which could make the locker room a bit awkward.

Gavin Lux to the Reds.

He had a pretty good 2nd half, and has success at Great American Ballpark.
I assume the Reds are going to play him at third alongside Elly and McLain. They have a whole passel of infielders.

The Dodgers moved Lux off short because he had trouble making the throws.

The Dodgers are pretty good at deciding when to cut bait with a player when he has nowhere to play defensively.

Last year they traded Michael Busch to the Cubs even though he had raked at AAA because he was blocked by Freeman at 1B and couldn't hack it at 2B.

They should be cutting bait with CT3 but not sure they will just yet.

Dodgers had a logjam all of a sudden in the middle infield (after signing Kim from KBO) so someone had to go and Lux always appeared to be the odd man out.

Trading Busch wasn't a great move IMO. Sure Freeman had him blocked at 1B but he should could have been used at 3rd. Solid rookie season for him at Chicago.

Zyhir Hope has the potential to make this trade look like a crime scene in a few years
"they" say Jackson Ferris is a better version of Blake Snell when Snell was Ferris' age. If they both pan out it will indeed be a steal. Still wish Busch was a Dodger though but you gotta give to get.

The media used to do that all the time when the Royals would sign a bat:

"So and so would be a great fit for Kauffman Stadium. He's hit .343 there with 10 homers and 29 ribbies"

YEAH BECAUSE HE WAS FACING THOSE ****TY ROYALS PITCHERS ALL THOSE YEARS YOU MORONS!!!!!!

Are you saying that they won't be facing the Blue Pitchers?
