Brewers trade Devin Williams to NYY for Nestor Cortes , Caleb Durbin and cash
The guardians traded the player they got for Gimenez for 3 pitchersYeah, the deal freed up like $90M. They’ll give Brito and Manzardo a shot, and then trade Brito to make room for Bazzana, or move on from Rocchio if they need to.
It's a salary dump by Cleveland. Gimenez is a useful player even if he doesn't hit but they gave him a long-term deal based on what looks like a career year.
Hopefully the Guardians will re-invest the future capital instead of the Dolans raking it off the table. They could really use some pitching.

Ishbia brothers in play to make a bid on the Twins. This is huge news for Twins fans if this comes to pass.
They already own the Phoenix Suns. Deep pockets for those guys.
Kyle Tucker to the Cubs for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and Cam Smith.
Yeah, just because you have money, doesn't mean you're a good owner. Honestly, I wouldn't want anything to do with Mat IshbiaIshbia brothers in play to make a bid on the Twins. This is huge news for Twins fans if this comes to pass.

They haven't exactly been doing a bang up job in Phoenix
Their problem in Phoenix is that they've thrown money around too liberally, which is less of a problem in baseball.Ishbia brothers in play to make a bid on the Twins. This is huge news for Twins fans if this comes to pass.

I will dare to say anyone would be better than the Pohlads.Their problem in Phoenix is that they've thrown money around too liberally, which is less of a problem in baseball.Ishbia brothers in play to make a bid on the Twins. This is huge news for Twins fans if this comes to pass.

He was the fan favorite walk-on for the MSU basketball team while I was there. I still feel inclined to root for him, although being worth $10 billion kinda ruins that underdog vibe.Yeah, just because you have money, doesn't mean you're a good owner. Honestly, I wouldn't want anything to do with Mat Ishbia
They don't even need to be big spenders. Just get up to slightly above average would be great.Big spenders in Minnesota would shake up the AL Central which has been the poverty row of divisions for a while (in spite of their 2024 playoff success).
I read that he has been told that he is the CF with Judge moving to RF.Belli is overpaid but he's a good fit with the Yankees where he can fill a hole in the OF or at 1B
Yep. That porch will be good to him.I read that he has been told that he is the CF with Judge moving to RF.Belli is overpaid but he's a good fit with the Yankees where he can fill a hole in the OF or at 1B
I think Ben Rice will get every opportunity this upcoming spring to win the 1B job.
That is exactly it. The sample size was simply too small.I think Ben Rice will get every opportunity this upcoming spring to win the 1B job.
Small sample size but Rice did nothing after a hot start. He needs to make some adjustments or else it's going to be DJLM time again.
Please tell me his nickname is Uncle.I think Ben Rice will get every opportunity this upcoming spring to win the 1B job.
Well, they're still paying Bobby Bonilla, so they're a little gunshy about deferring any more $$0 deferred as well. wildhttps://x.com/JeffPassan/status/1865957256824750297
BREAKING: Superstar outfielder Juan Soto and the New York Mets are in agreement on a 15-year, $765 million contract, sources tell ESPN. It is the largest deal in professional sports history.
Saw something yesterday saying that Belli's wife is Stanton's ex girlfriend, which could make the locker room a bit awkward.Cody Bellinger and his bad contract (2/$52.5M) didn't have much value on the trade market. In a rare Cody for Cody exchange, the Cubs only get bullpen JAG Cody Poteet in return and still had to send money to the Bronx to make it work.
Belli is overpaid but he's a good fit with the Yankees where he can fill a hole either in the OF or at 1B. The right field porch should help his HR totals.
P Walker Beuhler to the Red Sox 1yr/$21m
I assume the Reds are going to play him at third alongside Elly and McLain. They have a whole passel of infielders.Gavin Lux to the Reds.
He had a pretty good 2nd half, and has success at Great American Ballpark.
but but but, Gomes just said he would be the Dodgers 2B!!Gavin Lux to the Reds.
He had a pretty good 2nd half, and has had success at Great American Ballpark.
Didn't the Reds move India because they had too many infielders?Gavin Lux to the Reds.
The Dodgers are pretty good at deciding when to cut bait with a player when he has nowhere to play defensively. The Dodgers moved Lux off short because he had trouble making the throws
They should be cutting bait with CT3 but not sure they will just yet.The Dodgers are pretty good at deciding when to cut bait with a player when he has nowhere to play defensively. The Dodgers moved Lux off short because he had trouble making the throws
Last year they traded Michael Busch to the Cubs even though he had raked at AAA because he was blocked by Freeman at 1B and couldn't hack it at 2B.
Trading Busch wasn't a great move IMO. Sure Freeman had him blocked at 1B but he should could have been used at 3rd. Solid rookie season for him at Chicago.
"they" say Jackson Ferris is a better version of Blake Snell when Snell was Ferris' age. If they both pan out it will indeed be a steal. Still wish Busch was a Dodger though but you gotta give to get.Trading Busch wasn't a great move IMO. Sure Freeman had him blocked at 1B but he should could have been used at 3rd. Zyhir Hope has the potential to make this trade look like a crime scene in a few years

I like the trade but I also have this question.
Who hasn't?Gavin Lux to the Reds.
He had a pretty good 2nd half, and has had success at Great American Ballpark.
I’ve always hated this stat when media people say this.and has had success at Great American Ballpark.
Is this some kind of racial profiling thing? He’s not going to be facing Red pitchers
The preferred term is Ginger pitchers. Is this some kind of racial profiling thing? He’s not going to be facing Red pitchers
I mean the original comment came from "ChiefD" sooooooo.........The preferred term is Ginger pitchers. Is this some kind of racial profiling thing? He’s not going to be facing Red pitchers
Are you saying that they won't be facing the Blue Pitchers? The media used to do that all the time when the Royals would sign a bat:
"So and so would be a great fit for Kauffman Stadium. He's hit .343 there with 10 homers and 29 ribbies"
YEAH BECAUSE HE WAS FACING THOSE ****TY ROYALS PITCHERS ALL THOSE YEARS YOU MORONS!!!!!!
I’m more interested in going to see Verlander pitch than Mason Black, so I get it.Justin Verlander to SF for 1/$15M. It's not my money but he seemed pretty washed last year.
I wouldn't ever want to stop playing so I get it. But man, my initial reaction is just let the HoF clock start and enjoy life.Justin Verlander to SF for 1/$15M. It's not my money but he seemed pretty washed last year.
