Crazy stat/info I just saw. Dodgers are the first NL team in the newer 12-team playoff format to advance to the NLCS after having a bye in the first round. No other top 2 seed has advanced out of the NLDS in this current format.

Well, Minnesotans finally, after 30 years, shamed the Pohlads into selling a team they had no interest, duty, or care in. Good riddance you pathetic schmucks.
Unfortunately, unless something gets done fairly quick, this doesn't say much for next year. They weren't going to spend any money this offseason anyway because of where the roster is at financially, but I highly doubt they spend anything now.

I a not saying they have to spend to NY or LA levels, but an average or slightly above would be great especially in the winning window and hopefully the new owner agrees with that.

I actually think a deal could be done pretty quickly. The next owner(s) will ride in with a wave of good will from fans that is a no-brainer win if they have MN ties. Any added roster spending will give them a few years of leeway to find their chops as owners. Seems like an ideal place for a first time owner with a passion for the game or the state or sports in general.

As for next season, I agree. Unless something magical happens and this is done by yesterday, the 2025 roster more or less is what it is (recycled garbage with some shiny things that break with frequency). The Pohlads won't do anything when free agency starts, as usual, and the sale/negotiation will impact players wanting to come as well. Not a lot can be done there.

But fresh air is fresh air and the Pohlads are about as fresh as a fart in a jar. So I cling to this little sliver of hope for the team while I wear out my '91 championship tapes this winter. Can I borrow a VCR?

Yep. The bye is not helping the division winners.

Speaking for the Brewers, we'll take a bye - having been knocked out in the best-of-three wild card round as a division winner the past two seasons.

Once again I'm sure the mlb marketing geniuses have rock solid analytics behind a 1 pm pacific start time on Monday for game 2 of the lcs. Do they know stadiums have outdoor lighting these days? Idiots.

Pretty sure they're thinking player travel schedules as much as whether "johnny on the internet" will be watching (he will). So this game at 4pm Eastern followed by the Yankees at 730pm Eastern works tremendously for them.

plus it’s columbus day so all of us federal workers have the day off :banned:
Made my court day light today as well. Lined up some low hanging fruit tasks today so I can watch the game!

We're not gonna talk about yesterday's game...
