***Official 2025 Pro Cycling Thread*** - This year a Grand Prize!!! (6 Viewers)

Greetings, cycling :nerd:s!

Last year the Velogames thing was pretty cool, with a surprise overall winner (Congrats sammy!). I thought that whole thing was pretty cool, so this year I'll pitch in a priceless (or, you know, definitely for sure will be one day) piece of cycling memorabilia to go to the winner. Three Grand Tours, one grand champion. Hopefully that will get some more folks to land in here for another season of cycling chaos. Prize to be announced at the proper time. :p

The season is starting up (though I mostly ignore the super early stuff) so I wanted to get this going. Looks like the Tour Down Under is close to starting. There are other smaller races for early season warmup - Tour of Oman being the best of them (that's in early Feb.). As always, it seems, the question is how to get this stuff on TV in the US. I found a couple good Google Sheets on that - here and here. Peacock coverage here. As with last year I personally carry Peacock for the year and will buy a month of Max to catch the Giro. The rest on tiz-cycling if I'm really jonesing for some race we don't get easily.

Early season it looks like all four big contenders will be at the TdF, which is awesome. We can just hope no crash like last year happens again. That leaves a hole at the Giro and there are rumors that Wout will go for the overall. He says hell no, but pffft who really believes that? That would be ridiculous, so am all for it. Of course, he has to recover still as that knee injury was nasty. And Remco is still recovering from getting doored.

So welcome all! Come on in. The chamois is just fine here.

Edit: Stage Race Championship Link for the Velogames 12 race contest. This isn't the big one (Grand Tours Championship) that has the special grand prize - I'll post that one closer to the Giro. Still fun, so if you want in pop into the thread!

I'd celebrate, but I don't want to get fined because one of my teammates just won.
It's like they got Goodell to consult on 2025 rules.
What’s this now?
The UCI has outlawed teammates celebrating their teammate's win.

How preposterously stupid.

Tour of Alula stage 3 crash - made me catch my breath. Luckily only a broken jaw. Look starting at 2 minutes in.

Giro de Italia is on Sports on HBO Max. $99.99 w/ ads for 1 year, or just get a month for $9.99.

Tour de France & the Vuelta will be on Peacock. They're running a special right now - 12 months for $29.99.

Anybody have Flo Bikes? Seems like a lot of the classics are on that in 2025.

Squeaky Wheels checking in. Created a team for the UAE Tour. Is there enough interest to create a mini league in Velogames?

Make sure you crosscheck your team against the Start List at PCS

Romo is listed in VeloGames but he is not riding next week

I chose my team. There were no categories. It’s a wonky team. Go pog
In Velogames the categories (all around, climber, sprinter, etc.) are only used in the Grand Tours.

hmmm

I thought when we did Tour of Poland we had categories.

The UAE Tour only has GC & Youth because of the terrain. Four sprint stages, a time trial, one puncher's stage and only one that could be considered a hilly climbing stage.

Dang, Max runs out May 27 for me - right before the end of Giro. Oh well, not going to extend for that.

Sprinting out of the peloton where everyone gets the same times is not what I want from a stage. I want unexpectedly successful breakaways.

Watch this mess - only 8 riders took the correct path on the final sprint.

30 mph winds, echelons, bunch sprint!

Now we wait for 5 hours for Velogames to post

never have i seen such a thing

Ganna is right. He knew the course and won on the course. No way they should take the win away from him.
