***Official 2025 Pro Cycling Thread*** - This year a Grand Prize!!! (1 Viewer)

Looks like a straight sweep on the M&M boys with the being unanimous. It will be Da Raiders and me with Kooji vs. everyone's Phillipson. Raiders massively upgrarded his 4th rider to a stud, I upgraded my 5th rider from pack fodder to a prayer.

with so many sprinters, and a pancake flat finish, there is going to be carnage in the last km, right?

Martinez down at Catalunya. Collided with teammate in feed zone on the climb. less than a k to the top so he should be able to catch up.

Big descent then a GC battle up a Cat1 at Catalunya. Race leader at the back putting on a jacket, suspect he's not going to attempted to defend.

Brugge....

3km to go, De Vries is still 6 seconds ahead.

Another crash now - three Intermarche riders are down, incuding their sprinter Gerben Thijssen.

As a result of that crash, there's been a split in the peloton.

One of Philipsen's lead-out men, Juri Hollmann, is among them. But none of the sprinters were spotted.

CRASH

There's a crash in the peloton, with a few riders down.

I had a weird day where I was on the company dime waiting for a ship to arrive in Antwerp, but it was delayed, so we had nothing to do... so we took a train up to Bruges for the day. What a charming town, it was pretty perfect.

I don't know how to solve it, but cycling is relying on riders to diagnose themselves for possible concussions in each crash. Not a great setup. Maybe a helmet sensor, where if it gets whacked this hard, they can't jump right back on the bike?

Catalunya was a lot of fun - breakaways, uphill sprint finish.
I was hoping for more on the HC or the final climb. I thought the 3 that broke away at the end were going to go for it, but they seemed to sit up after playing a bit of cat and mouse. Odd stage

Only seeing the top 10 at Brugge posted. One site had everyone else listed at 11th.
I think they had to wait to see who the UCI was relegating after that cluster#####. I am shocked that Milan appeared to get away with only a yellow card...

Man, Bruges is just carnage everywhere.
Too many teams jockeying for limited space on a road. Someone made the comment that if you are going to have a flat sprint stage these days, the ending road better be very, very wide. Even then the biggest issue is what happens when the leadoff guys drop back. Everyone is going so hard and they are all spread across the entire width of the road, that there's no place for them to go safely. At least in a Grand Tour some percentage of the teams have some of their riders more or less disengage with 3km to go, that doesn't happen in these one day races where every team brings their spring lead out trains.

Spring Classics progress after Classic Brugge-De Panne

Philipsen 0 pts
Girmay 0 pts
Milan 230 pts
Kooij 0 pts
Van Poppel 70 pts
Mullen 0 pts
Wright 0 pts
Rex 130 pts
Pithie 0 pts
Canal 0 pts
Aular 40 pts
Gradek 0 pts

Total 470 points

Used 3 of my 23 remaining trasfers to replace:

Mads Peterson in for Jasper Philipsen
Michael Matthews in for Olav Kooij
Arnaud De Lie in for Johnathan Milan

Total score through 2 rounds: 1068 (#1869 of 2703). Not that great. Hoping trying to conserve transfer for later races will help me create better lineups.

I think a third of my team dropped out today. I guess when you weigh a buck nothing you turn into a big kitty. Something must be making its way thru the peloton

Should get points in E3 Saxo from everyone but Tarling. He didn’t have good legs today, fell back from group 2 with 30-35 km left. Picked the two Alpecin 4 point riders so 120 assist points. 135 breakaway points, 1059 for 1-2-9

1314 1194 points (I think?)
