**** Official Aaron Rodgers injury thread ***** (1 Viewer)

It's clear that he wants to play and the medical staff is just being overly cautious - it's like putting your 9 year old in tackle football - is there a chance he gets hurt sure but its risk/reward.

Anything you do in life is a risk. Jordy Nelson could get concussed on every play doesn't mean you don't play him. There is no higher level of risk playing Rodgers now than there will be playing him in september.

Bottom line get him out there.

They've already said the rehab if he does reinjure the collarbone is 3 mths - would easily be ready in time for spring trainning.

The risk/reward is worth it.

This is 100% false. By September the bone will be fully joined and back to its previous strength. That's not true for at least six months from the original breakage.

The people whose job it is to evaluate the players' health and to assess the risk (and who have taken the oath to "first, do no harm") may decide the risk is unacceptable this week. That may annoy fantasy football players who know absolutely nothing about the medical facts of the situation, but I think fantasy football players are even worse at second-guessing doctors' decisions than they are at second-guessing coaches' decisions (and they're pretty bad at that).

I'll defer to the people who pay his salary and assume both that risk and reward to make that judgement

I think it is obvious that Rodgers is likely more hurt than they are letting on, but they want their opponents to have to spend time preparing for the possibility that he might play. My gut tells me that he won't play again this season, and then word will eventually get out in the offseason that he was more hurt than they let on.

I listened to the podcast of Rodgers' radio show on Tuesday. The reporting of it was not very good and made the whole scan issue very confusing. I made a transcript of the radio show and here is exactly what was said:

Host: You’ve made it clear to us that there’s, you know, a reluctance, for health reasons, among all of you, to scan you too much. I think A.J. Hawk was the one who said you could end up, from all radiation…

Rodgers: I think that was a joke.

Host: I’m sure it was.

Rodgers: You don’t have a camera in here yet, so you can’t see us laughing.

Host: The room is bugged but it doesn’t have a camera. Do you… That’s seems a little significant to me. Why wouldn’t you need that? Are we at a point now where it’s more how you feel? They know how it looks?

Rodgers: No, but, I think you can probably guess. They have an idea what it’s going to look like based on the previous one, the amount of days that we have between scans, project that forward a similar amount of days, and have a pretty good idea, to avoid, you know, over-radiation.

When the media reported this they left out key parts of the conversation that give you the full context of what was being discussed. You can draw your own conclusions, but I think this totally supports what I've been speculating about in here since last night. That Rodgers got a scan last week, and due to concerns about over-radiation they do not plan to scan him again this week. My guess (that one's for you drummer boy) is that they have compared the prior two scans and there is a fair degree of healing left to do before he is cleared.

Fire away trolls.

You post basically the same information we already know...whine about the reporting of it all...call out others...beg for attention and affirmation of what you posted. Then call others trolls?

Interesting.

Look...nobody knows or cares when exactly the guy gets scanned.

At least, most sane people don't care.

They care...when will he play again.

And the Packers simply are not going to tip any hand on that.

Come Friday...McCarthy will give the go or no go and thats that. Til then, Im sure you will post about 20 more times complaining about how this was reported or how the team is handling things...and call everyone else trolls for rightfully calling out your schtick.

BTW...your chicken sucks.

Yo, IDIOT, the scans have everything to do with when he gets clearance. Your stupidity in this area is astounding.

Funny how you have complained about insults and such...yet you have no problem slinging them.

Care to point out in my post where I claim the scans have nothing to do with when he gets clearance?

As I said...nobody knows when and how often he gets scanned. Meaning, nobody in here.

Nor is GB really giving much of that information out.

So to continue going on about it for pages now is pretty foolish IMO...or take that time to learn some reading comprehension before you start slinging insults about someone else's supposed "stupidity".

But have at it chief.

No, you said, "Nobody knows or cares when and how often he gets scanned". If you had half a brain you would know that understanding when he gets scanned is the key in determining when he gets medical clearance from Dr. McKenzie. We know he is not getting cleared without a scan. If we can determine he is not getting scanned this week, then we know he is not getting cleared this week. You follow me so far? If not, hit pause and rewind.

After Rodgers had his radio show on Tuesday the information released regarding his status was clouded by many writers' misinterpretation or taking out of context certain quotes in his show. That's not me whining, it's a statement of fact and is one of the main reasons there is so much confusion on this issue. Some people actually concluded that Rodgers would be getting a scan on Wednesday. So I did the good footballguys thing and spent 15 minutes transcribing his radio show word for word - you know, providing actual REAL content - and in my opinion the end result of that analysis is pretty compelling evidence (you be the judge) that Rodgers is NOT getting scanned this week due to radiation concerns, and therefore NOT getting cleared. Not to toot my own horn, but I have not seen this analysis and conclusion drawn anywhere else - not on any news site, fan forum, or fantasy football site. It is truly original material and could provide valuable, timely information to people in here as they approach the championship game. Isn't that what this place is supposed to be about? I know what it's not supposed to be about, and that is the incessant trolling and worthless analysis that you and others have brought to this debate.

So I say once again, in all seriousness, tune down your tool meter and bring something of substance to this place. You're like a seagull. You fly in, crap all over the place, then leave.

So you really care when he gets the scan? Why? What does it matter to you to know when it happens?

See...to me, and actual Packers fan. I don't give a tiny rat's behind when he gets scanned.

I care when Mike McCarthy or Rodgers steps to the mic to say he will be active.

When the scan takes place is irrelevant.

And its funny that you have called people trolls and now tell me to tune down the tool factor given how you have acted through this entire thread.

Acting as if you are providing substance. At this point...there is no actual substance until the moment he is declared out or in. Hasn't been for a while.

And you think your provided real content by posting what you did just so you can complain more about other people and worry about when he may get scanned.

Guess what...the Packers are not going to tell us when he will...so again...he may get one this week...if he does, we won't likely know a thing about it til after MM gives the go or no go.

But you can keep speculating and making posts like these if it makes you feel better.

The rest of us will realize who in this topic has been the troll who needs to tune down his troll factor.

Peace...

I just want Rodgers to come back so we can lock this thread.

Trolls need to go away

I heard Rodgers ordered three foot longs from subway today. Total those and that equals a yard. So perhaps Rodgers is trying to tell us he will be gaining a lot of yards on Sunday. Seems quite telling to me.

Thank you for your excellent opinion good General. I'm not sure what I would do without your fantasy football championship saving information. Do you have a blog I can subscribe to? I'd pay upwards of say $4 for this information throughout the season.

This has evolved into one of the most asinine, juvenile #### fests this board has ever seen. You guys do realize you're acting like 12 year olds, right?

If they scanned TsOH!s dome, you might find my couch in there.
That's funny because if you did a scan on Vernon Davis, a pic of Chancellor's couch would be there. :D
I really feel bad for ItS. At least he shows up in a game thread.

And he didn't start the pre-game thread

Hucks just stop with the nonsense. Go use another alias and bomb the FFA with how great the Pac10 is. We don't care about hia scans.

My guess ... is that they have compared the prior two scans and there is a fair degree of healing left to do before he is cleared.
I tend to agree with you. The only thing I don't understand is why they wouldn't want to give Flynn the full complement of starter's reps in practice if they already know that they're not going to clear Rodgers. If they really don't think that Rodgers will be cleared to play, wouldn't it be in their best interest to get Flynn as many reps as possible??

If he does play, who feels safe starting him?
Again, it depends upon your options. Im in a two QB league - you don't think Im going Rodgers over Matt Cassel? If it were Rivers or Romo you go with them. If its someone with upside like Cousins I can see some good debate. If it's Cassel or McGloin, how do you not take a shot with Rodgers? They obviously are not going to put him out there unless they feel he's ready and he's been throwing, progressively more and more, for a few weeks now.

If he does play, who feels safe starting him?
With the Packers' new found running game, I can't see them risking as many Rodgers dropbacks as they normally would. Granted, he's good enough to be productive on a small number of attempts but you're just banking on faith at that point. I'm likely sticking with a higher volume option (Tannehill).

Flynn took all 1st team reps in team drills today, Tolzien took 2nd team reps. Rodgers did not participate in team drills.

Safe to assume Flynn is going to go in this one.

It was either worse initially then they let us believe or they are being overcautious, regardless AR will not be in anyone's week 16 lineup.

On another note, at least I never have to visit this thread ever again :)

My guess is that the Packers feel making an opponent prepare for the possibility of Rodgers playing is more valuable than extra reps for Flynn. Flynn has many years in this offense so the reps are probably less valuable than for a young guy still learning the offense.

Amen. Even as an AROD owner, I'm over it. Next man up.

While it probably ended the same way in the closed portion of practice...this is like the first 15 minutes while the press was in there.

That said...this was, reportedly, more like what he did last Friday.

Unless they are trying to smokescreen of having Rodgers do this in the media session and then having Rodgers take the 1st team reps once the press is out.

Looks like another week of Flynn.

Rotoworld:

Speaking after Thursday's practice, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Aaron Rodgers looked "very good," and that the team will announce its Week 16 starter on Friday.

McCarthy said Rodgers appeared "sharp" and "ready to play," but that he's yet to be medically cleared. It's by far the most positive McCarthy has sounded on his quarterback's status since he resumed practiced, but as was the case last week, everything is contingent on the results of his Friday CT scan. The fact that Matt Flynn took the first-team reps in Thursday's practice is a sign the Pack aren't expecting Rodgers to get cleared. Either way, there's at least a chance Rodgers and his fantasy owners will finally get the news they've been waiting for on Friday. Plan for the worst, but hope for the best.

The funniest scenario would be if the Packers win out with Flynn and this drama continued out through the NFL playoffs with the same routine we've seen the past couple weeks.

Could you imagine the Friday before the superbowl?

Trainder Dude: "Play A - questionable, Player B - questionable, A. Rodgers......................."

Whole media holds their breath - lol.

It's not realistic but tell me you wouldn't want to see the $hit storm if every week they declared Rodgers Out on the friday before. If I was a packer fan I'd be going crazy lol.

Rotoworld:

Speaking after Thursday's practice, Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) said he has a "pretty good sense" of whether he's going to gain medical clearance on Friday.

That would suggest Rodgers doesn't expect to get cleared, as Matt Flynn took the first-team reps in Thursday's practice. However, Rodgers added that he's "made a lot of strides," and "completed about every pass in practice." It appears there's some internal wrangling over whether or not Rodgers should suit up against the Steelers. We'll know the team's decision after Friday's scan.
